Dad at 13

The irony is, if this turned into a TV show like Jon and Kate, it would be the new water cooler conversation.

Didn't read the entire thread. I saw this on tv and it just made me sad. They asked him how well was he off financially and he replied "what does financiallly mean?".

All I could think of was my 13 year old son and I had the urge to go over the sex talk one more time.

I still cannot believe that kid is 13. I developed later in life as well, but I looked like a teenager until I hit puberty. That kid though? He really looks younger than 10.

This has to be a publicity stunt for a show. It just can't be true.

Another case of parents dropping the ball big time. Poor kids...all 3 of them. :sad2:

Is anyone else curious as to what in the world a 15 year old girl was doing with a 12 year old boy?!!!

She was 14 when he was 12.

Only two years difference. I don't think that is too uncommon.

But the boy looks like he ought to be in DD's 3rd grade class and the girl looks like she ought to be babysitting him. My DD is only in the 40%-50%tile and she is taller than 48 inches! Yet she's 9 to his 13. The girl looks MUCH older and more physically mature than the boy.

My DD just turned 7 is about 51 inches. She's in first grade. Above average but my DD is not a giant. There are kids in Kindergarten that are the about the same size as her. Now they are tall boys but still.

That kid really looks a lot younger than 13. Does he have a growth issue? The only kids I knew that were that small at that age did have growth problems. Although the boys that were small were well liked by the girls.

I don't get this, physiologically. How at 13 is this possible?

Rich::

It is entirely possible. Just because his voice hasn't changed does not mean he is incapable. It's not common, but it's possible. The youngest mother on record is a 5 year old Peruvian girl who gave birth in the 1930's.

Snopes has the full story and her age was verified by independent doctors. There is even a picture of her during the pregnancy, but it is not Dis friendly. The family raised the boy as her brother.

That's what I meant. What is a mature 14-year old girl doing with a tiny, prepubescent 12-year old boy?! It's common fact that girls mature faster than boys, so at that age even a 2-year difference is a huge difference. The whole thing is very, very odd to me. I went to high school in the middle of New York City and I remember there were 3 or 4 pregnant girls, so it's not something new. But the fact that there's such age difference, and that the parents of a 12-year old boy would let him sleep over his 14-year old girlfriend's house, and that he hasn't even hit puberty yet, that his voice hasn't even changed... it's crazy.

This is turning into Days of Our Lives! The whole things crazy, who knows if any of it's even true now?!

Isn't The Sun, the UK's equivalent to the US's The Enquirer? I don't know, I find that hard to believe.

Its all over the papers and the news channels over here :guilty:
I found it quite shocking, just because he does look about 8 years old.

After reading the papers today I think this one might run on for a while - a 15 year old is demanding a DNA test because the baby could be his, and a 14 year old boy is saying he could be the father even though he doesn't want to be. Its quite scary really. If the papers are to be believed (which im not sure they are) the father could be one of a few boys.

And it really, really sucks that this kind of thing is becoming less and less uncommon.

Um, its doubtful that it's less uncommon than before, it's just that the media jumps all over it now.

From the last thing I've heard, at least in the U.S., teen pregnancy rates have been falling, not increasing

I read this a few days ago.. and its really, really disturbing...:sad2:
