D23 Expo 2011! Who's attending?

I will be at the D23 Expo with just the regular tickets next month. My DA & I will be staying at BW Stovalls. I can't believe it is almost time for the 2nd annual D23 Expo.

I'll add you to the list and update it in a couple of days, as soon as a few more people chime in.

In general, other than the Legends and the Wizards cast, I seem to recall that most of the other celebrities were surprises during the feature film presentation. I heard there were also many other Disney legends in attendance if you had good seats, but we were in the cheap seats and can't say from direct experience. -- Suzanne

I was in the cheap seats (we started hanging around until the floor filled up because the balcony was a really great place to sit!) and sat right by Tony Baxter during John Lasseter's presentation. A little bummed to see that Pixar is rolled into the studio presentation this time and doesn't have it's own time.
Looking back at the 09 schedule, it doesn't look like the Arena was all that heavily used. Thursday, 10-12 Legends Ceemony, and 3-4 ABCs of Disney. Friday 11:00-12:30, the studios, Saturday 11:00-12, Imagineering the future of Disney parks, 2-3 the Disney store (wow they really need a TINY venue for that..very low attendance) and 6:30-9 the Auction. Sunday the arena had: 11-12, Pixar and 2-4 Disney channel. I think it seemed like so much more stuff there since we were in the line there sooooo looooong. The heavily used venues were WD Studios Theater, Stage 23 and Storytellers Theater. Looks like ABC is on the show floor this time and hope I can see some previews of shows that look interesting this time around.

From the OP on this thread:

I thought I would compile a list and keep updating it as more people join in because I'm curious to see who all is going. If you indicated where you are staying, I'll put that info too. I'm sure as the Expo gets closer more people will be looking for information.

I'm gleaning this information from the posts in this thread, if you didn't specifically mention you purchased one of the special packages, I've put you down as a General Ticket Holder, if that's a mistake, let me know.

Good ol' Tommy Boy has a Premier ticket!

I am still a little worried that there is no WD Studios Theater this time. That was the second largest venue (after the Arena) on the 3rd floor. Even though it was a big room, we were couldn't get into the Muppets presentation held there (arrived only about 1/2 hour prior cuz we went to the Animation presentation in the Arena) and I sure others were turned away from the P&F presentation.

On the other hand, with only 3 days, just the Arena schedule already feels like our days will be full.

I am also a little disappointed that Bob Iger won't be there to open the Expo. -- Suzanne

wow..just noticed that was missing..hmm...no evening movie showings??? Hope they have those.
And I still wonder if Mr. Iger will open the Legend ceremony like last year, just not be the 'host' (he's pretty handsome)

We are going with the regular tickets. we are staying at VGC and going to the parks Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, and planning to go the Expo on Friday. Since our vacation time is limited I am not sure if we should go to the Expo for a second day. Anyone has any advise?

I will be there with my Premiere ticket! Can't wait for more details and more of the schedule to be announced!

I was wondering if Bob Iger would be there too. Judging by the start time of the Legends ceremony I'm guessing someone is going to do an intro first, maybe they just have to clear his schedule? I think it would look kind of bad to have an event showcasing the entire Disney brand and the CEO didn't show up.

My sister and I (wendybirdn) will be going as sorcerers and staying for a week after, at the Grand Villas

They might not have a movie theater this time because they've been doing the 50 & Fabulous movies at the Studios in Burbank throughout the year?

I'm 99.99999999999999% sure I'm going this year. I wasn't at the last one, so I have no idea what I'll be in for. I am just such a huge Disney nerd that it seems like something I'd regret missing! Besides, I'll take any excuse to go to Disneyland! Unfortunately, I will be missing most of Friday's events though.

Looks like we're doing Friday and Sunday. The kids weren't interested in Lion King. I'm not interested in Marvel, but will survive :) I've got 2 extra Guest tickets in hand already for Friday, which I need to get up on ebay here soon.

I wouldn't miss a day at the Expo..every day is different and was jammed packed.

So like I said above, I don't care about this Marvel thing. I'll still be good on Sunday? I still think we'll skip Saturday, just seems like too much.

Question---- where do people park? I'm wondering if we should do the M&F parking structure even though it's so far.

The Expo website says that the Anaheim Convention Center will offer parking and to check back for prices.

At the first Expo I only attended one day. That was a mistake as each day held so many surprises. I would encourage you not to miss a day.
I parked at the Convention Center. This time I am staying within walking distance so parking will not be an issue. :tink:

Neither Marvel Comics nor Disney Channel hold any great appeal to me, so I'll have to see what other events are happening on the Sunday, or maybe spend a few hours over at the parks during the day? Friday and Saturday both look great though. Might skip the auction, everything will be well out of my price range anyway!

I'll also have to find where/when ABC are doing their preview screenings, as the pilot for "Once Upon a Time" and the new "Prep and Landing" (in August?!) might be worth a watch.

Oh, and for the list, I've just booked myself into the Candy Cane Inn from 16 to 21 August. It seems a good place to base myself for access to both the parks and the Expo, and I gather breakfast is included, which is good. I hope it's as pleasant as everyone says.

What "Marvel" are you referring to? :confused3 I don't see it on the schedule that is on the website, was there a blog or something that mentioned it?

Also that will not be the only thing going on at that time. There are two stages, plus 3-5 exhibits that are going on constantly. Plus Saturday is the day for the Disney Studios presentation which will probably be one of the better shows.
