D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

Oh Leisa, I'm happy you are back on US soil! Have a wonderful time with family. I'm sorry you're dealing with stuff with your son, too. The comments I had for Camille are probably true for yours, too. Plus he's been kind of on his own for awhile, so doesn't want to be "mothered" again, even though he still needs it! Just make him respect you and it will all work out! :hug:

Being it's 4:30, and I can't sleep anymore if I tried, I thought I'd try to catchup a little. My 5K is in about 3 hours, and my iPod needs charging anyway.

First of all--- a HUGE THANKS to Magdalene and Katharina for a WONDERFUL day and evening! Dinner at her parent's home was truly one of the highlights of the whole trip for us!! I absolutely cannot wait to show you the pictures of dinner and our fabulous company!! An enormous amount of work went into hosting us, and we can't express how much we appreciated it- it definitely made for some magical moments in Germany.

Secondly, I really appreciate your kind words in welcoming us "home". I can tell already it's going to take quite a while for my kids to be "re-assimilated" back into American culture. My older daughter is very snarky about the "waste" she see in the extravagance of American living, and is constantly asking "WHY?!" in everything she sees. Meanwhile, she's very excited about tubing at the lake.

Also, I want to be able to respond to each one of you individually, but it will be very hard with the limited time I have. I am reading each one of your posts and treasure them greatly, though, and at some point hope to be able to just sit and quote them all!

I WILL be back at 10:00 or so to let you know how we did in our first ever 5K. I am nervous, have no clue what to expect, but know I can complete it, even if I have to walk the entire thing. :cheer2:

Yes, my personal achievement I 'll be celebrating at Disney in 2 WEEKS!!!!!!!!

So excited to hear about your first race! :cool1:

I understand your daughter's feelings about the waste in this country. I feel the same way many, many times. :sad2:

Liesa, I hope the 5K went well! I'm sure you did a great job and gave it your all!:thumbsup2 Can't wait to hear all about it.

:banana::banana: :woohoo::woohoo: Liesa Welcome Home!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo: :banana::banana:

(well not really home but at least to the USA!!!!)

I hope you do great in your 5K... you are probably running as we speak....errr as I type? Well whatever... GOOD LUCK!!!!

Good heavens, woman! Don't even try to catch up on responding to all of this. I think you have enough to do. We're just glad you guys made it back, and you can start doing responses again when you are more settled.

Two weeks until Disney World! :tigger:

Congratulations!
I could easily come in second, too....
if there were only two people in the race. :goodvibes

I think a year of not doing the special extra's I normally do for him might help him to see what I've always done over the years, it will kill me not to do them, but I think a necassary measure right now. I'll pray about it first, but I think this is the way it's gonna have to go.
I'll need you guys to keep me strong.

Best of luck to you in this. I am going through the same thing. And I am also doing as little as possible for mine....but it backfired. Last spring when college was out and it was time for him to move out of the dorm and come home....he moved in with my parents....where there are no rules :headache: We had a big knock-down drag out over where he would be living this fall - he wanted to move to an apartment, we (his parents) wanted to be able to see and approve of the choice. He decided to sign a lease for one that he did not show us, and from the area it was in (behind a convenience store) I think he knew we wouldn't like it as much as some of the others. This kid (yes, he's 21 and technically not a kid....but he acts like one - so he can be 30 and if he acts this way he will be called a kid) does not have a job, he had a student loan lined up - but when he told his grandmother (my mother) how much the interest on it was she told him it would be better for her to loan him them money. So when this apartment fiasco came up I called her and asked her to please respect our decision as his parents and to not loan him money for this apartment. She told me it was the same as a student loan and it was up to him to make mistakes and learn from them :sad2: Ok well, that's all well and good - but he is not learning from his mistakes when whenever he makes one he goes to her and she takes care of it. :rolleyes1 This all happened right after Easter. My husband has not neem to their house since Easter. I have only been over there once.....well, twice, but the 2nd time I was just in the garage looking to see what they had set out for a yard sale (didn't trust 'em......they had my brothers Army boot camp yearbook out there for sale - my brother who died almost 2 years ago)

So sorry for the ramble and the hijack......but know that I am hanging strong with you on this battle to adult-hood.....and I sincerely hope you don'thave somebody in your life throwing down unneccesary roadblocks!

Hi Liesa,

Welcome home!!!!!! :yay::yay:

I'm so sorry that I have been MIA. The "black cloud" followed me to Cape Cod - we were there for a week and my step-father was in the Cape Cod hospital for 5 of the days. He had acute bronchitis and his heart went into A-flutter. His heart beat hasn't normalized yet and they are not sure why he went into A-flutter, but they are thinking it's a combination between the stress of the bronchitis combined with the stress of my mom's death on his heart. So, since I've been back I've been going to doctor appts. with him, keeping on top of his medication, and at night we've been putting a puzzle together (I'm trying to spend time with him and keep his mind off of things.)

But... I've been thinking about you during this time and hoping that you had a lovely time in Germany and got to the States safely. I haven't read your report yet, but hopefully I'll gather some time in the next few days.

However, I need a vacation from my vacation :rotfl: and am so excited to get togehter next week! It's going to be so much fun and a joy to meet everyone!!

Wow - I just read that you ran the 5k and came in 2nd in your class!!! That is AWESOME!!!!! :worship::worship:

Mine got a crash course tonight in how it's going to be from now on. I told him when I called and made him come back from College Station (so he can help his father load the van with all his things...yes, yes he expected us to load his things-WHO'S CHILD IS THIS?!?), that I couldn't help his dad lift the heavy things since my back went out (did I tell you in all of this my back went out? :rolleyes: and I won't even tell you what time of the :headache: ....OH NEVER MIND) and his dad had no business doing it by himself either...upon arriving and upon hearing the first hint of attitude from him, out came...."Listen here Son! Here's how this is gonna go down...Now that you have a place to go to I'm not putting up with your attitude any more, your butts gonna get thrown out of this house! If you don't stop with the rude behavior and disrespect your not welcome in my home, that's right this is MY HOME, and I decide if someone is allowed in it or not, including you. I love you but I'm not putting up with you treating me like you have over the last six months, you've been a real horses patoot and I've about had enough of it! Do you understand?!?" :eek:<---Him---> "Yes, Ma'am." If he only knew all I've gone through to help him get his place together, not to mention the other 17 years of his life! :rolleyes: But I guess he won't until he has kids of his own, will he? Oh well, such is life and I'm done being a big baby about it.

Good for You !!!!:thumbsup2 Sometimes you have to lay it down and let it simmer. he will come around. Little bit of separation anxiety and hopefully this too shall pass.

Great job on the run Liesa.:cheer2::cheer2:
