can anyone tell me how many bottles of alcohol you can bring back with you that are duty free?

<table border=0><tr valign=top><td align=right width=125><b>3-day and 4-day</b>:</td><td> </td><td>One liter is the base exemption (either from the ship or Nassau/Freeport). The second liter is exempt, if purchased and produced in the Bahamas (Nassau Royal, Local Specialty Rums).</td></tr><tr valign=top><td align=right><b>7-day Western</b>:</td><td></td><td>1 liter, aquired in Grand Cayman, Cozumel, or on the ship is exempt.</td></tr><tr valign=top><td align=right><b>7-day Eastern</b>:</td><td></td><td>I've misplaced the "Welcome Home" document from this itinerary, but I <i>believe</i> it's 3 liters from St Thomas, 1 liter from St Maarten or on the ship, plus 1 liter if it was produced in St Maarten (such as Guavaberry).</td></tr></table>

From the Bahamas- 2 liters-1 of those must be produced in the bahamas.
From the Western- 1 liter
From the Eastern-5 liters- only one from St. Maarten, 4 from US Virgin Islands.

Did someone say Guavaberry???

that is per person right? So Dh and I could each bring back one liter duty free? (i take it DS who is nine can not) what would the duty be on additional bottles?

What would be the best way to bring home our duty free Guavaberry and our duty free rum. Should we pack them in bubble wrap and put them in our carry-on?:

We put our bottles last year wrapped in dirty clothes (well the clothes that we had worn the previous week, not like filthy or anything) in our carry on luggage, no problems with it with customs or airport security

for the Bottles. We bought 6 bottles at the St. Thomas Kmart. They gave us a packing box with handles to carry it. We carried it on the plane with us.
The only thing you can't carry on the plane is HIGH CONTENT ALCOHOLIC beverages like 151 rum.

most places in most ports will have nice little cardboard boxes with handles that make it easy to carry. At least this has been our past experience, and then we usually take them as a carry on.

That's correct. That is the duty-free exemption for every member of your party who is 21 or over. So that would multiply the number of liters that can be brought back duty-free.

It's pretty nominal. Something like 3% of the value of your purchases that exceed your exemption. And the Customs inspectors will <b><i>usually</i></b> waive the collection of duty if the amount owed is less than $10.

It may be worth your while. I bought a liter of Tanqueray gin at St Thomas for $7. That would cost me $23 back home. If I were a big drinker, it would be worth my while to stock up and pay the duty.

But keep in mind this remark from the U.S. Customs Service:

<b>While federal regulations do not specify a limit on the amount of alcohol you may bring back for personal use, unusual quantities are liable to raise suspicions that you are importing the alcohol for other purposes, such as for resale.</b>
