Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa - **Alice in Wonderland Garden View Tea Experience Opens March 19th**

Thanks so much!

If that person/company isn't available for your dates, try joining the Ear For Each Other facebook page. That page was started in 2020 by Disney cast members who were furloughed or let go. They offer a wide variety of services including room decorating, cakes and pastries, in-room prince/princess makeovers, airport transportation, etc.

Wow, thanks a lot, I'll check them out too

Not sure how I didn’t see this posted sooner, but just came across clearer pictures than the one I had posted a few posts ago…

Refurbished Garden View Tea Room Interior Visible Through Windows at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

Our reporter was able to get a good look at the refurbished interior through these windows.

There are new white chairs with leaf-patterned backs and green seat cushions around round white marble-patterned tables as well as additional light wood tabletops. The new carpet is green with a brown and blue pattern that looks like a mix of leaves and feathers, with hidden Mickeys throughout.

The bench seats feature blue seat cushions and pillows as well as neutral patterned back cushions. The green mid-century styled chairs have patterned fabric and wicker backs and light green cushions.

The Garden View Tea Room has not operated since 2020 and is the last major element of the Grand Floridian lobby refurbishment remaining. For comparison, here is a photo of the Garden View Tea Room from before it closed, showing the predominantly pink color scheme:

Looks like they didn’t do much other than furniture update. Took them 6 years for that?

This could have been opened ages ago lol!

Grand Floridian Alice in Wonderland Garden View Tea Experience Opens March 19th, First Look at Menu

The Garden View Lounge – Tea Experience will be opening its doors once again at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to bring guests on a whimsical afternoon tea extravaganza starting March 19, with reservations opening on February 19.

Walt Disney World has just announced that the Garden View Lounge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort will reopen in mid-March. The reimagined space will be themed to Alice in Wonderland, inviting guests on a whimsical afternoon tea extravaganza. Here are the details, including when you can make reservations, along with a first look at the menu!

Alice in Wonderland Garden View Tea Experience at Disney’s Grand Floridian

With new touches from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film Alice in Wonderland, you will have an unforgettable experience. From small bites, both sweet and savory, to a selection of teas, you’ll be on quite the journey with each sip and bite amongst the elegance of this beloved location, now with a whimsical touch. There are options for both adults and the little ones, making this an outing the whole family can enjoy together.

Disney’s beverage and culinary experts have gone down the rabbit hole and are ready for you to join them with this lineup of flavors. And we’ve got an exclusive first look at the menu for you.

Beverages

Let’s begin our adventure with the beverages, shall we? The first step of this experience, or should I say sip, includes the tea selection. We’ve worked with Twinings to hand-select premium tea blends that offer something for everyone.

Delight in the Twinings Loose Leaf Tea Selections, including special flavors and classics like London Strand Breakfastand Spicy Chai, as well as more unique flavor combinations like Orangery of Lady Grey, which is a unique black tea featuring bright, orange notes that is exclusive to the Walt Disney World Resort. The Nutty Chocolate Flavoured Assamblack tea is a must-try with smooth chocolate and roasted hazelnut flavors and if you are looking for something caffeine-free, enjoy the Blackcurrant and Lavender herbal tea.

After selecting your tea with the guidance of expertly trained cast members who serve as your own tea guide, you’ll be able to create a tea that is customized for you. Next, you’ll choose an aromatic designed to accompany the tea which is added during the steeping process. And feel free to add some extra sweetness. We don’t judge here.

And that’s not all. There are also two signature tea-based cocktails – the Mint Tulip featuring Old Forester 1870 Original Batch Kentucky Straight Whiskey, Twinings Refreshers Peach Mango Tea Instant Beverage, and mint, and the Mar-TEA-ni with Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, Twinings Earl Grey Tea, lemon, and honey.

Visitors can also enjoy non-alcoholic specialty teas – the Curiosi-TEA with Twinings Refreshers Strawberry Raspberry Herbal Tea Instant Beverage with a touch of shimmering magic, and the This Way, That Way with Twinings Refreshers Peach Mango Tea Herbal Tea Instant Beverage and mint.

Did I mention there’s also champagne and sparkling wines?

We’re late! We’re late! For a very important plate! The culinary creations bring to life the ultimate afternoon tea experience. Before getting to the tea tower of treats (yes – you read that right), your taste buds will be delighted with the Orange-Cranberry Scone with traditional accoutrements.

Now for the three-tiers of food. The savory selections include:

  • Curried Chicken Salad Playing Card Tart: Savory curried chicken salad filling topped with cherry gelée
  • Footman’s Feast: Wonderland Salmon Crisp with a salmon rillette on a miso brown butter crisp
  • Tweedledee Egg Salad Sandwich: A traditional egg salad on beet bread
  • Caterpillar Cucumber Roll: A delicious combination with butterfly pea-infused cream cheese and cucumbers on pumpernickel
Then, enjoy a sweet finish with the following:

  • The Matcha Mad Hatter: Sponge cake with apricot jam and yuzu buttercream
  • Tea Party Tart: Vanilla tart, coffee custard, and chantilly cream
  • Flamingo Croquet Choux filled with passion fruit cream and a raspberry crunch
  • Painting the Rose: Earl Grey-flavored teacake painted tableside
And for those looking for plant-based options, there’s also an afternoon tea selection for you too.

For some added delights, there are also enhancements you can indulge in – the Seasonal Cheese Selection or Royal Osetra Caviar with Mini Chive Biscuits and Traditional Accompaniments.

For the little ones, the Children’s Afternoon Tea features adorably delicious bites, including savory minis like the Queen of Hearts Cheese Toastie, a Fanciful Turkey Wrap, and a Sunflower Seed Butter and Jelly Bun. For dessert, we have the Cheshire Cat Raspberry Macaron, the Chocolate Brownie Branch, and don’t be late for the vanilla White Rabbit Cupcake.

Maintenance Work on Grand Floridian’s Perch Lobby Bar

On Wednesday morning, January 21, we saw crews performing maintenance work on The Perch lobby bar, which opened this past November, at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Two crew members were on a platform inside the birdcage structure, working on the ceiling. The counters were covered with plastic sheets to keep them protected.

They were adding new feathery criss-cross details to the ceiling tiles.

The bar is usually open from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Crew members said it would open on time today after they completed their work.

In addition to work on The Perch, we saw two new decorative mirrors in the lobby. One was on the first floor and one was on the second floor, behind a vintage Ferris wheel toy. There were previously scrims in these areas but they have come down as the lobby’s reimagining nears an end.

Garden View Lounge

The last area to be completed is the Garden View Lounge, which hasn’t operated since early 2020. Disney just revealed the lounge’s new tea menu and March reopening date. The entrance and interior have been completely refurbished.

Has anyone seen if there will be characters at the tea?

There was a children’s tea before closure, I don’t know if there were characters at that one. Or if they plan to bring a children’s tea back. This is the regular afternoon tea menu, which did not have characters before & I don’t expect it to now.

I just meant it shouldn’t taken 6 years lol!

For comparison, we waited 20 months after we signed the contract for our bathroom redo to be started, signed the contract June 2023, work started February 2025. This was just basic update of everything, no exotic special ordered materials lol. Just a really popular construction company, still having issues increasing crews that could do work to their standards. I guess that’s why 6 years for the tea room doesn’t seem so bad to me. :rotfl2:

The new Garden View Tea Lounge has been unveiled at Disney’s Grand Floridian

The refurbished Garden View Lounge in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort has been revealed. Construction walls and curtains have mostly blocked the tea room from view for the past several months, but they are now gone.

Construction walls and scrim were briefly removed in December, but curtains went up in front of the lounge soon after. This is the first time curtains have been removed from the entryways, revealing the interior. We’ve only been able to get a look at the updated interior through the exterior windows.

The interior windows looking into the lounge have a trio of windows featuring stained glass designs. Each stained glass has tree branches, leaves, and birds. The counter in front of the windows now has a pair of decorative candles and a birdcage house.

Photo from September 2023

In our above photo, you can see what the entrance of the tea room used to look like. The windows were more open, with glass continuing beyond the arched shapes. Those arches now have wall spacers between and above them. They also had decorative white frames on them instead of stained glass.

There are still red stanchions on the steps in front of the doorways but we can easily see inside. The interior has been completely refurbished with new carpeting, furniture, and lighting fixtures. However, most of the walls and windows appear the same.

Above is what the tea room’s interior used to look like. It had a red and pink color scheme with dark marble tabletops. The white high-backed chairs had pale pink cushioning. There were dark green floral-patterned sofas. The wall sconces had small lampshades. Large mirrors featured Everglades-inspired decals.

The new interior has a green and white color scheme. The tables have white marble tops and gold legs. Most of the chairs have lower, circular backs with leaf-patterned cushions and solid green seats. The old chairs had arms but these don't.

Other chairs have darker green rounded backs with a white pattern and dark brown legs. New couches have wicker sides and green pillows.

The carpet of the Tea Room is green with a beige and blue pattern featuring hidden Mickeys.

Built-in bench seats have brown wood backs and gold-patterned cushioning. There are new gold chandeliers with hanging crystals.

As we previously saw, there are two accent walls with green floral-patterned wallpaper. Gold-framed mirrors hang on these walls, along with new sconces. The lights are housed in green glass with hanging tassels. There are two counters against these walls for cast member use.

Now that the tea experience is themed to Alice, did they change out the marble floor characters in front of the tea room?. I believe one was Mrs. Potts from Beauty and the beast. I'm not sure of the other.
