Has anyone here gone to a Curves? What did you think of it? Did you have any succes?

HI................ I began curves about 2 years ago! I did it for one year with LC eating and lost 60 pounds. After about a year, I found that I just wasnt really sweating anymore after I worked out there, so I quit and bought a treadmill. Since then I have gained back 20 pounds! I do continue to use my treadmill but realized that I am just not getting enough muscle exercise done. Let me just say that I am not saying I gained back weight, cause I left curves......... I did eat horribly in those months etc. BUt just last week, I thought it was time once again to get my muscles moving (besides the TM) so of all the gyms, I went back to curves. The reason, I retunred firstof all is I saw results the first time. Although, I know I could get those results in any other gym, I really really like MY curves. Ilove the people that work there and the members that go. Its people like all our local teachers, the supermarket girl etc. Cant exactly pin point it but theres something I really like about the place. I have come to realize that I will just always have to work at this so rather than think OKay my weight it where I want to so I can quit the gym, I know now that is not true.
good luck in whatever you decide. I guess its our own personal reason as to why we like one gym or another and each has their pros and cons. I guess for me feeling like I belong there is a biggie for me. I passed up the babysitting option at another gym ( I just rationalized that thinking its my time with OUT thek ids lol).
let us know what you did! good luck.

I go to Curves and love it! It is TOTALLY non threatening!! Its all women, and mostly women who aren't used to working out so you will never feel like "the beginner". There is NO pressure, and you can come and go as you please. If you want to leave after 10 or 15 minutes you can, no problem. If you want to stay 45 minutes that's fine too.

If you want to get into shape, but haven't really ever been into exercise, then Curves would be an ideal place to go! :wave2:

I have been a Curves member for a year and a half. At the beginning I lost some inches but little weight because I was not ready to change my eating habits. Since January I have been motivate and have done a complete diet makeover. I love Curves. It is what you make out of it. When I first started I used the recovery stations for recovery. Now I look at them as cardo. I have lost 37lbs since Jan. I do extra cardo on my off days as well but I think the muscle gain from Curves has helped my metabolism. I like that you do not have to think about what you are going to do next and that you do not wait in any lines. Also, mine is close and does not take long!!

I have been a member of Curves for 1 month now. It cost me $74.50 to sign up on my inital visit (if you do not sign up then it is almost $150. It is $29 a month if the fee is taken directly from your account for 12 months.

I have only lost 1 pound and 2 inches but it is a simple 30 minute program that I feel I can committ to.

I really enjoy going there, since my exercise routine was nothing before I figure that this is better than nothing.

My goal is to lose 20 pounds, so only 19 more to go.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll go check them out my next day off.

As PPs have said, you get out of it what you put into it. I have been a member for 2 yrs. now. At first, I was very faithful and motivated-lost 12 lbs and 18 inches that first summer. I've gone back and forth between that and being a slacker. In addition to the weight loss and clothes fitting better, I've been able to keep off bp meds. I figure the fee is about what I would spend on the pills, so it pays for itself! Plus it's good mommy-sanity time. Give it a try!

I am a personal trainer from ACE--
Curves is great way to get started . Maybe the first 6 months if you have never exercised. I would advise not signing a year contract. Maybe a 6 mo contract and then switch to a more challenging program . Curves is great to get started!.
