So my mother-in-law booked a cruise for the whole family and today she gave us little information packets that Disney had mailed to our family. I tried to create a new account on the Disney Cruise website, but it said my email address was already in use (I know I have never created an account). But, when I asked it "Forgot Password" anyway just in case, it threw an error and told me I had to call the Help Line. Has anyone seen this issue before? Thanks!

I don't have accounts for any of those things. That's why I am so confused...and if somehow I did have an account that I didn't remember (in case I made it randomly at some point), I would have thought saying "forgot password" would then have let me pick a new password, since the account creation asks for security questions. It's okay, I can just call in the morning, but I was hoping to start looking at things tonight. The cruise isn't until Summer 2019.

Does your mother-in-law have an account? Possibly she used your email?

Do you have an account with ABC.com, ESPN.com, shop Disney Store online, or have made reservations at WDW at any time?

Hmm that's interesting. No Disney accounts at all? The websites have been acting silly this week so the error may have been on their end. If the email is already in use then you must've created an account at some point; whether it was purchasing merchandise on shopdisney or booking a previous vacation at WDW. Clear your cookies and browing history and type in your address again and use the forgot password option. It should send you reset instructions. If that doesn't work then give them a call. in the morning.

No, my MIL has her own account - she forwarded us an email they sent her to her email. No accounts with ABC.com or any of those other places either. I tried two different browsers, too. I'll call in the morning and then update with an explanation.

That is really weird...the Disney company is so vast with so many branches that somewhere along the line you might have used the email address with one of them and that is the one that they have on file for you.
If you have another email address you could create a brand new account and that would take care of it.

Good luck and I hope they can figure out what is going on. :)

So, I called Disney this morning. I have an account from *something* that was last used in...2007. The person on the phone tried to send me a link to my account to re-activate it...and when I did, it said, "That link has expired." Anyway, he has to escalate the issue and I have to wait until next Monday to try to log in again. If it still isn't working at that point, I'm supposed to call them back. /sigh

Disney’s first internet accounts started with VMK(Virtual Magic Kingdom) and then went on to become Disney Blast which branched off from the MK to create a pixie fairy website and pirate website and later the Club Penguins and Toon Town websites. So I would ask your child if they ever ended up playing any of those games which I’m guessing you probably helped them sign up for since Disney asked permission from the parents before they allowed the account to activate. I’m going to guess it’s Toon Town
or Penguin Club. Because that’s about the time they started.
Then they merged all those clubs into one sign-on website to combine with travel and shopping the problem comes in when you have more than one kid playing the games. There was also a special sales group created back then where you could get discounts that were not available to others. It had great stuff for babies that included books, outfits and plush items and so many other things.
