we are using magical express from the airport to Coronado. does the magical express bus stop at other resorts first or is Coronado the first stop when going from the airport to the resort?

We took it in June...and we stopped at two others first. I believe Pop and Caribbean.

We took it last Dec. And it went straight to Coronado.

In Dec the bus stopped first at Pop, then CSR, and then AKL was going to be the last stop.

It just depends on the arrivals for that day. When we took it, we went to Pop first, then AKL, then CSR.

We have only stayed at POP in the past but we decided to book a moderate this time around because we got a great PIN back in January. I brushed off CSR at first because I heard all the typical bad stuff...It's a convention hotel, it's soooo big, it's not kid-friendly, not Disney enough, etc. I booked POR for our trip and I was very excited at first, but the excitement started to wain. I started to read up on the other moderates again and I came across this thread. Yesterday, after a few days of off reading, looking at pictures and second guessing myself I switched our resort to CSR! :woohoo: I am so excited!! This resort really seems to suit our personalities more than POR. I am sure that we would have had a great time there but I think we will enjoy ourselves even more at CSR. Maybe this is a little lame, but the pictures on this thread and some of the others really warmed my heart and I knew we had to stay at CSR. So thank you for all of the great information on this thread. :thumbsup2 November can't come fast enough. :yay:

For Magical Express in May, the bus stopped at Coronado first, then went on to the All Stars Resort. Same with last September. I guess it just varies each time according to where people are going?

Welcome; we are delighted to have you here. :goodvibes

It truly upsets me when people say it is not kid friendly. The CSR has one of the best playgrounds of all the resorts, the pool is awesome and there is lots of turtles, an occasional alligator in the lake, fun games at the main pool, etc.
You don't mention how old your kids are, but I go back to this post when people are concerned whether or not it is kid friendly and I hope it will help ease any lingering doubts for you: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2490217

If you have any questions, feel free to post them here. There are lots of wonderful people in this thread willing to help besides me (and they are great at covering while I am away; I'll be at the CSR in less than two months and taking more pictures).

Thank you for the welcomes everyone. I've followed this thread long enough that I feel like I know some of you. Kathy, I have really enjoyed reading about you and Nikki's wacky adventures! You girls know how to have fun!!! I just read on another site (shame on me!!!):rotfl2: that there is a nca/nda convention at Coronado at the time of our visit. These are cheer and dance teams. Does anyone have experience with this group or know what ages attendees will be? I've read horror stories about pop warner so I was hoping it wouldnt be that kind of thing. Magic Kingdom will be filming the Christmas parade while we are there. Do we need to avoid that park on those days?

My family and our friends check into the CSR on August 28th (staying for 8 days) our group will have 3 rooms. We have stayed there before in Cabanas 9 and really liked that location, close to the Dig site and right next to a bus stop. I want to ask for that building again. I know there is a chance I will not get what I ask for but what is the best way and timeframe to get that request noted. Should I jut call now with the reservation numbers of all 3 rooms or should I do online check-in.

Can't wait to get back to the CSR, great pool, great food court and some of the nicest grounds at Disney.

Call and put in your request through Reservations - you can do this anytime, but I'd do it at least a week before you arrive so it will be in the system when the rooms are assigned. There is no place on the online form to ask for room locations.

You might consider requesting what is important to you (near Dig Site and bus stop) instead of a specific building in case that building is booked, but you can always ask at check-in to be moved if there is space available and you were put somewhere else. It is harder with three rooms, though. Cabana 8A is super close to the Dig Site and bus stop, but a bit further from El Centro than cabana 9.

I'd also call to be sure your reservations are linked so the room assigners know you are all together and want rooms near each other.

Call and get it noted on your reservation now. They are no longer looking at faxes and on-line check in does NOT allow you to request specific building, etc. (you can only ask for ground floor, near transportation).

I was sooooo excited when I opened the mailbox yesterday and found our ME packet!!!:yay::yay::yay: I tore it open, and saw the yellow tags with a green Mickey head that said "AK" on it, and then noted Coronado Springs below the Mickey head.

I can't believe we're 36 days away!!! I can't wait to get to CSR to explore the grounds and pool(s). My girls don't know it yet, but I added a day onto our park tickets, so instead of spending our arrival day @ DD and the resort, we're going to head to a park of their choice since we are getting in early in the day (although, I wouldn't mind a day of relaxation and swimming). I figure I'll let them choose which park to go to. Maybe we'll see which bus comes by first and head there, although AK is my least favorite park (so I think I get to overrule that one... my girls would agree). I'm sure we'll have plenty of opportunity to look around the resort that evening, as I don't plan on spending a long day in the parks, since we'll have 7 full days after our arrival day.

So excited to get to CSR for our first stay at this resort. Thanks to everyone for your updates, questions, and helpful hints. I've made a lot of notes (requested either Ranchos 7B or Cabanas 8A or 8B, so we'll see if we get one of those bldgs) and need to probably pour back over all of the great ideas I've gotten from this site!

Kelly, there is NOTHING like Mickey mail. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Suggestion...if you don't plan on spending a long day in the parks, why not get AK out of the way and then it is done with? Or do you not do it at all (see, we prefer AK over the Studios and spend more time at AK).

The girls will be so exicted. :goodvibes

I heard that CSR was now showing movies by the main pool in the evenings and was wondering if anyone can confirm this. Thanks for any info. My family and I are excited about our first stay at CSR in Sept.

Yes, they are. They start them around dusk on certain nights.

We'll be there in September too. :)

Hi, Tink. I've missed you. Hope you are doing well.

Missed you too!:goodvibes I am well, thank you!! Hope to go back to CSR soon. When you go three to four times a year as I do, unfortunately corners needed to be cut somewhere:sad2:. Hope you enjoy your upcoming stay! I will see you around the boards:thumbsup2
