Is there a plan of the room numbers etc with interconnecting rooms
As there is for Pop Century which was very helpful last year
Many thanks in advance
Mandy:thumbsup2

I would be interested in this information too. I'm also wondering if info about the type of beds in the connecting rooms is available. Thank you!

Well, it's official. We have booked our 2011 trip.

We will stay at the AKL with a Savannah view for two nights -- September 23 and 24. On September 25, we will come "home" to the CSR for four nights before driving to Marco Island for a week. I can't wait!

Oh! Congratulations Kathy! You guys have a great trip! I know you've been considering AKL for a quite awhile.

I just booked another trip for late Sept/early Oct yesterday, but decided to stay at POFQ. With the new preferred room category, I'm afraid my chances for getting in my preferred Cabanas just got too low, plus the only CSR rooms available for my stay under the new TSU discount code are waterview rooms. I'd hate to pay for a waterview and then be stuck out in the Ranchos.:rotfl: Although when the AP discounts come out for those dates, I may still switch and take my chances if a standard room is available.

What are your dates in September? Maybe we can meet up for coffee or something? Let me know (although we have a lot of time to plan).

Before posting my questions I must say how awe-inspiring the work you put in on this thread is, KatMark (as well as the info from all the other regulars). It made deciding on CSR easy :) (although my husband doesn't understand all of the time I've spent :surfweb:).

However, now I'm thinking of changing my room request from the Cabanas to Casitas, and was wondering if anyone could tell me approximately how long it takes the bus to get all the way around the resort from bus stop 2 at the Casitas to bus stop 1 at El Centro. I know this can vary depending on the crown level but a rough guess would really help me make this decision!

Also, we have never visited WDW (other than a trip I took at nine that I need to look at pics to remember :confused3) and I wanted to see about tipping "Mousekeeping" at CSR. I know there were a few posts about it earlier in the thread, but I feel a little uncomfortable tipping the first day (sight unseen as it were). Can any CSR peeps speak to this? Do the maids seem to take the tips for granted or do they seem to do a great job even though they get the tip upfront? I'm really hoping for some towel animals to surprise my DH (he's a big kid at heart).

Thanks again for this awesome thread and info! I can't wait until our May trip (I just bought the plane tix so I'm a little :yay:)!

Thanks for the kind words.

I can't comment on the buses because we rent a car and drive everywhere. The one bus we took from CSR we took from the last stop (at the main building) to the MK (the trip was 10 minutes from that last stop).

DH and I usually leave $5.00 a night starting with the first night. Now, we just started doing this three years ago as never used to leave a "mousekeeping" tip. I've never noticed a difference in the quality of the cleaning of my room with or without the tip.

As for the towel animals, they are hit or miss at any resort. What I would do if I were you is sneak away from DH and go to the registration area and talk to one of the CM's and ask them to place a call to Mousekeeping and request a towel animal or leave a note for your mousekeeper. I did this for DH's 50th birthday because he is a REALLY big kid at heart (you can tell by all the "hat" pictures in my TR) and I wanted him to have a towel animal. Therefore, I left a note as we left one morning and we came back to the cutest little dog wearing Mark's hat...it made his day.

It seemed to take us about 5-10 minutes to get from bus stop #2 all the way around to bus stop #1, unless someone was loading an ECV.

We are at 10 days for the trip countdown....can't wait to get to the Coronado. I made a Coronado Scavenger Hunt for my high school kids to do while I am checking everyone into their rooms. The kids will earn a prize when they are done - a Refillable Coronado mug. :) Then if the weather cooperates we'll get a swim in the pool or a dip in the hot tub before going to Downtown Disney for our 5 PM Rainforest dinner.

Has anyone tried out the new room service at CSR? I am thinking of ordering it our first morning to surprise my kids with Mickey Waffles in bed.

Also does anyone remember if the gift shop sells quarts or 1/2 gallons of milk? I'd rather not buy individual servings and my kids drink a lot. However I don't want to order from garden Grocer because I do not have $40 woth of stuff to get.

Really in final countdown mode here. :rotfl:

The scavenger hunt sounds like fun. Can I play too? :rotfl::rotfl:

I don't know about the room service...we've never used it (I do remember reading a review a couple of months ago and they really liked the breakfast).

As for the gift shop, yes, they do have the 1/2 gallons of milk (if I'm not mistaken, that is milk next to the orange juice in this picture):

Sounds great! My dates are Sept 24th-Oct 2nd. I wanted to be there for the beginning of the Food & Wine Festival, but still wanted to be able to take advantage of the TSU code that's out right now, just in case AP discounts don't come out.

We just returned, and I bought the 1/2 gallon of skim milk. I brought a box of cereal from home and paper bowls and plastic spoons. We ate in the room a couple of days and also had breakfast at the Pepper Market twice (very good!). Have a great trip!

Hi! I was just wondering if you had a hard time eating in the room with no table. Did you use the desk? What about a second chair? We usually eat in shifts of 2 and 2. Even then, it seems crowded and unorganized. We almost always have breakfast in the room...cereal or DH brings food from the food court to our room.

TIA! Having such a hard time choosing a resort this time around. I know I am obsessing. Went from WL, to Pop, now seriously considering CSR...or ASMu...or offsite! And I'd change any plans I make if I could get a great last minute deal renting DVC points....:rotfl:

My DH and I had breakfast in our room once or twice over our last two visits. He sat at the desk and I set my food on the ottoman and sat on the floor. With two little ones, they could use the ottomans (there are two of them) and eat there. Just a thought. :)

I was thinking the same thing. :confused3
I was disappointed to see there is no more table w/2 chairs.

also... a question for those that have visited there most recently.....
are there benches/seating throughout the walkways? Specifically I mean in the Ranchos area.
I know there are some places to sit in Casitas, near the fountains, etc.
but our last visit we stayed in Ranchos and there was no place to just sit outside and enjoy the scenery/resort unless you went to the pool.

thanks...

Just booked my trip for june 1-8..staying at Coronado. Haven't stayed since I was 16...so looking forward to it!

How much trouble is it getting from CSR to an early Character Breakfast at either Poly or GF?

I'm wondering if I should skip resort dining and choose theme park character breakfast instead?

Thanks

It shouldn't be too dificult to do. We had early breakfast at GF one morning, and Poly another monring (Christmas). We took the CSR bus to Magic Kingdom, then took the monorail to both resorts. Plan on approx 45-60 minutes each way depending on the crowds.

KatMark you have done such a wonderful job with this thread!!! Thank you!!
My husband and I are going to be celebrating our ten year anniversary and we will be booking the CSR this week!! It will be our first time, we have done the Polly and the Contemporary in the past. I am feeling a bit guilty that we are not bringing our kids but not enough to keep us away!!! I have seen your suggestions about the Castias but I have to say I really like the look of the cabanas. I am a beach girl:) We are in our mid thirties what would you suggest? Thanks a ton!!!

Hi, Heather. Although Mark and I really love Casitas 4 and 5, I would highly recommend Cabanas 8A if you can get it. It is super close to the main pool, pool bar (gotta have an anniversary cocktail), hot tub and a short walk to the hammocks which are closer to Cabanas 9A and 9B. We stayed in 8A in September and absolutely loved the location.

Happy Anniversary. And don't feel guilty about the kids. We did a little the first time we went without them (my DH's 50th birthday) and the boys were 14 and 16; but by the time we got there and stepped into the resort we forgot all about them. :rotfl::rotfl:

Oh I am not sure if it matters but we will be there from Dec 11 till the 15th. Thanks!!!!:thumbsup2
