Yep, a lot of us have been told that while there and have left tips. The problems is (for years now) is the fact that Pepper Market CM's telling us to pay the tip while on DDP is controversial. Different folks have been told (over the years) when contacting in writing or email or whatever, that Pepper Market has their required 10% tip covered by Disney...that the DDP guest doesn't have to pay a tip for any quick service meal. In other words, they may be getting paid twice--once by WDW for each DDP QS meal and then again by the customer they have told must pay. This is my understanding of the problem. Again, we, too, have always paid because we were unsure (erring on the side of caution). I would love to have the issue clarified.

Yeah, I know there's some discrepancy, but the $5 tip I leave on the table at PM isn't going to break me, so I don't worry about it. If I really cared, I'd get my food to go and avoid the issue entirely, but I don't. :thumbsup2 Just reporting what we were told the last time we ate at PM. :goodvibes
Bottom line, IMO (and I'm not on the Dining Plan) - if it's not included on the check, and they expect the guest to tip, then it's not mandatory and you can do as you choose.

When you dine with a group of 6 or more, the 18% is added to your check. When you use the TiW at a TS restaurant (Pepper Market doesn't count), the 18% is added to your check. That's mandatory.

Otherwise, it's up to you, DP or not.

We have also done the switch from Pop to Coronado and we couldn't be more excited. It is going to seem like forever to get here but the planning is going to be fun. The resort looks awesome and I think it is about time for us to try out a Moderate :goodvibes

It's our first trip and with the cost of a fridge for 8 nights, it ended up being about $400 more. I think it's money well spent!

I am saddened to say that we will NOT be staying at the CSR. This is the first trip since 2004 that we have not stayed at the CSR. However, an opportunity that we could NOT pass up, was presented to us. We are staying at AKL in a one bedroom villa for two nights and just hanging at the resort (this has been the case since our upcoming trip was planend) and for the last four nights of our trip, rather than be at the CSR, we are staying at Old Key West on points given to us by a friend.

I will need ALL of you who are going to the CSR in the near future to take pictures for me and, if possible, let me use some of them when I update this site the next time.

We're not going until December, but I promise we'll have a million of them to give you. I think our family would kill us if we came back without them. :rotfl:

Well, I am sorry that I won't get to say hello in September if we had crossed paths at the pool, but if you can't pass up a great opportunity. I will take lots of pictures in September. You have been very helpful to me in my trip planning! :)

Hi. I have a question about use of a "safe" for early arrival at CSR.

(My guess is the answer is somewhere in this thread, but my searching technique just didn't work.)

In theory we will arrive at CSR around 1pm. If the room is not yet ready, does the front desk have a hotel safe where I could place some items? (Not sure I want to carry a lot of cash into the parks, for example.)

TIA.

Yes they have a "safe boxes" room behind the front desk. It's very secure as you can only go in with a CM (the CM comes in the room first & opens the room for you from the inside). It's free. Just be careful not to lose the key :)
They are not huge but we were able to put 2 netbooks and a small purse in one of them.

KatMark don't feel bad ! Maybe you can swing by just to make sure everything's okay

Just wanted to say thank you for all the info on this board. We leave tomorrow for a week-long stay at CSR and this board couldn't have been more helpful! :goodvibes

I hope you have a magical trip and a wonderful stay at the CSR.

Is there a toaster we can use in the morning at Pepper Market or Cafe Rix? I like a very particular bagel I would like to bring from home. We go to the foodcourt each morning anyway for mickey waffles or chocolate chip pancakes for the kiddos. TIA

Wow - not sure what to say! :sad1: that you won't be at CSR (it's kind of a tradition), but :) you get to try two new resorts this trip. Each resort offers something different, and even though CSR is home for us, I enjoy staying at other resorts sometimes. Enjoy your trip, eat a meal at the Pepper Market, and hope you don't run into any CSR managers who want to know why you're cheating on CSR! :rotfl2:

I thought there was, but now I am second-guessing myself. Kathy will know when she pops back in. There is a microwave, which won't make very good bagels!

Mimiecp-when in Sept will you be there? We are going Sept 6-19! Maybe we will run across you at the pool, or food court or bar or bus stop...
Hope you have a wonderful trip!
Anyone else going to be at CSR around the same time? Wanna plan a quick meet and greet???

My wife informed me today that Coronado's refrigerators don't have freezers in them. We have a 24 month old who we were planning on doing ice packs to keep bottles of water cool for in the parks. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can do this?
Thanks!

None of the fridges as the moderates (and possibly even the deluxes) have freezers. One thing to do for sure if at all possible, keep the cabinet door OPEN that has the fridge behind it as it will keep the drinks, etc., colder.

Even though you won't be at CSR, it sounds like you have a great trip planned. You can still run over to CSR and have lunch at the Pepper Market and lie in your hammock with a nice cool beverage.

Congratulations on the DVC villas. You're right that's too good to pass up!
