Just back from a 9 night stay and can't say enough good things about CSR!

We had room requests noted on our reservation (Ground floor, Casitas), did online check-in right at the 10 day mark and were happy to see we got our requests! We were in Casitas 5, ground floor, facing the parking lot (so the bus stop was really close too!) Our service on check-in was excellent, a concierge noticed I was limping (sprained ankles) and brought me out a wheelchair immedietely (that we kept for the duration of our stay, but I ended up not using a lot.. thank goodness!).

Mousekeeping was FABULOUS, every single day. The resort was even more gorgeous in person (landscaping is amazing), and not nearly as huge as I was expecting. It only took me 20 minutes to walk the entire way around the resort.. and I sprained BOTH ankles (one really badly) just 6 weeks ago. And I only walked the entire way around to time it. The quiet pool was just a few seconds away, El Centro just a few more beyond that.

Buses were EXCELLENT. Even after the fireworks at night we never waited more than 10 minutes and in the morning we usually only waited a minute or two! Even after going around to all the bus stops (were the first) we never experienced a full bus.

We ate multiple times at Pepper Market and Cafe Rix and both were great! We loved the buffet breakfast at PM and the chicken nachos, the pasta was a little.. meh...but everything from the grill was great. On our last night they had a special with rice pilaf, green beans and roasted chicken with a lemon & caper sauce that was super good. And it was a HALF chicken! SO much food! The burger and cuban sandwich at Cafe Rix were delicious (no fall-apart buns here, the bread was delish!) The desserts and pastries were great as well.

I really can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

I'm ten days out today, but am not doing online check in.:rotfl: I requested first floor Cabanas and want to be able to ask for a room change if I happened to get stuck out in the Ranchos.:rotfl: I like the Casitas, love the Cabanas, and absolutely hate, hate, hate the Ranchos. I am always terrified I'm going to get stuck out there.:rotfl: It's probably all in my head and wouldn't really be that bad, but still I'm hoping for some pixiedust to be placed somewhere in my beloved Cabanas. So far in nine trips, I've been in Casitas 1, Casitas 2, Cabanas 9B three times, Cabanas 9A twice, and Cabanas 8A twice, so have thus far avoided the dreaded Ranchos. In those nine trips I have also gotten my first floor request every time, except the two times I was in the Casitas where I had a top floor both times.:confused3

We always do online check in and have, on several occasions, asked and received a different room at check in when we didn't get our requested room/area. We happen to love the ranchos and have stayed in all 3 areas in the past. I love the less hectic atmosphere back there, away from the hustle and bustle after a busy day in the parks. The distance doesn't bother us since we walk all the time at DW anyway. Nice that there are different sections for different tastes..:)

are 9b cabanas ground floor , close to parking, need it for for handicap reasons,, also are club level rooms in this 9b also ?

I can hardly contain myself! Thanks to everyone giving their post trip reports!:banana:

Does anyone know where the sidewalk construction currently is, and in what direction they are moving with it? Last report I read on here it was between Ranchos and Cabanas.

Hi everyone :D

Random question - are all the rooms the same theming regardless of which section you end up in? I really want to be in the room with the dark wood and white bedding with the green accents - hopefully this is all of them!

Thanks xx

I too have done online check in, then politely asked if there was anything closer to my request when I didn't get in the Cabanas. The CM did switch me, but gave me a hard time, snorting, and telling me that if room location was important to me then I really should not have done online check in, as online check in is really for those people who just want to grab their stuff and go and don't really care where their room is. She said she would work with me that time, but in the future I really needed to check in in the regular line, so as no to hold up the online people. She was really pretty rude about it, even though I asked very politely. I haven't done online check in since.

As far as the Ranchos, I live in Texas and the look of the Ranchos really turns me off. Plus I just love the location of the Cabanas. Everthing I want is over there (close to main pool, quiet pool close, and not too far from the main building either. Oh well, I'm finally in single digits, so in less than ten days I'll see where I'm at. Really hoping for Cabanas though.

Yes, since the refurb a few years ago, all the regular rooms have that same dark wood with white bedding and blue green accents. Although I think I saw a picture somewhere of one of the suites that looked like it had a goldish brown accents. It still had the same white bedding and dark furniture though.

Wow, that was just plain rude! Luckily there aren't too many CMs like that. I totally understand not wanting an area so much like the area you live. I've heard some comment that they don't care for the WL since they're from the northwest. Have a great time! We only have a little while to wait, too...:goodvibes

Has anyone seen pictures of the Pepper Market set up as a buffet? Curious where it is located and what it looks like. Thanks!

EVERYthing that I read tells me that I should not do online checking for that reason.
When we do online check in its for express -grab your keys and make your way.

its a lot of work to make the changes that are already set and it does hold up the people who wanted the express stuff

We're checked in!

We are arriving at midnight so I thought we better do it so we could
Secure a room earlier in the day! I doubt very many people will be checking in at that time lol!

I've done online check-in ever since it started. Stayed at CSR three different times last year. Put in a request for a particular section when I originally made the reservation.

In March, I requested the Cabanas and first floor when I made the resie. Did online check in. Got Cabanas 8A 1st floor facing the Ranchos.

In August, I requested either the Cabanas or Casitas and 1st floor or near an elevator when I made the resie. Did online check in and got upgraded from standard to water view Casitas 5.

In October, I requested Ranchos 7B and 1st floor. I thought it would be pretty awesome to have stayed in each village in a year's time. I did online check in and got Ranchos 7A, 1st floor.

My requests are not on the online check in form, so we're going to forgo online check in and hope that there's not a big convention arriving when we are! :)

Ktharee - was reading that trip report and was wondering how it ended?

you would think in three years I would have finished it! it was an amazing trip with lots of pixie dust! I think I'll go back and finish it now that I know somebody cares. :)

This is just an outright lie by the cast member. On Disney's site at

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/online-hotel-check-in/

one of the faq's says 'What are the benefits of Online Check-In Service?' and the answer is:

"Guests who participate in Online Check-In Service may spend reduced time checking in upon arrival at the Disney Resort hotel, and Cast Members can focus on providing helpful information and answering your questions."

Note that they say the CM can focus on ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS! And one of those could very well be 'DO YOU HAVE ANOTHER ROOM???????'

If you read further in the FAQs, it says something interesting about the room assignment:

Are Guests' rooms assigned as a part of Online Check-In Service?

No, this service does not provide room selection or assignment. Please note, if you requested a Disability Accessible Room at the time of booking, then a specific room will be assigned.

I am so sorry you had a rude CM! It sounds like you didn't let it ruin the rest of your vacation though!
