Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- November 2009

We just booked a room for next August also, in the last half of the month. It must be a popular time with the free dining as I noticed others have booked for next year also. I enjoy reading this thread and I am sure will be well prepared for my kids first trip to WDW by the time we go next year!

Just called and requested Cabana's 9B! They didn't say anything regarding the Convention Club Level so hopefully we can get this great location (for us at least).

We will be in the air this time next week!

At least don't do online check at the Coronado Springs Resort.
I had completed the online check in forms as recommended by the reservation web site. It stated that it would expedite check in. When we arrived the regular check in counters had 5 to 6 agents assisting people. At the online check in there was only 1 ( ONE) agent. The regular check in agents were pulling people from the regular check in line so there were at least 6 to 8 parties that came in, saw an agent, completed their check in and left. Meanwhile we were still standing in line. When I was next, but the 1 online check in agent was busy, I finally "interrupted" an regular check in agent after she was finished with a customer. I explained the situation and she seemed a little putout. We also told the acting manager and he said they were working on the system. He stated the one other online check in agent was on break and that they try to cover the on break agent. ( ONLY 2 online check in agents??). When the on break agent returned the existing agent left, still leaving only 1 agent. Why not utilize some of the other 6 regular check in agents. I don't understand that I did as the Disney reservation site requested and was absolutely penalized for it. All those other parties came in after me and left long before I even talked to an agent. Unacceptable!! All the agents should have been pulling people from both lines.

We did on-line check-in in February at CSR and had no problems. We also got our room request. It worked well for us!

Congrats! Hope you enjoy CSR half as much as we do.

If there isn't a convention that has paid for the "Club Level" services, they will put regular guests in that building.

I am sooo happy for you Kathy! Have a wonderful time!!!! :wizard:

Thank you! :)

I am sorry this was your experience with check in. Unfortunately, this is not something that has only happened at the CSR. I've read of this happening at the POR and the WL very recently. You are right it is unacceptable. I hope the rest of your trip went well.

So it sounds like online check in is a hit or miss as far as if it's worth it.

I've read about 50% for it, 50% against it. We used it last year but we checked in at midnight so it was really pointless for us as there was no one else there anyway. I did it again for this trip, but we check in at 10:30 p.m. and probably still pointless...but we'll see.

I did it last night but we won't arrive until 6am, so made sure we paid for the night prior accomodation. This will mean our room should be ready when we arrive. I don't know if on-line check in will really of saved us time because I don't think anyone much will arrive at 6am!!!!! Only us stupid Aussies..........Fingers crossed for Cabanas area I had to call and request this as it doesn't let you do it on-line check in?? I couldn't wait to check in though it just made it all seem more real. I will send a fax request as well thanks to everyones advice here. Sounds strange to send a fax from Australia for a room request so far away but hey adds to all the excitement!

How difficult is it to get from CSR to another resort for breakfast in the mornings?

I was thinking about having a nice breakfast on our last day before we depart on ME, maybe Boma or Grand Floridian Cafe? Possibly even something like Kouzzina?

Is it more hassle than it's worth?

Would it be easier to have breakfast at Downtown Disney (if they even serve breakfast??).

and Lastly....IF DD does serve breakfast, what time would they start?

Sounds like I'm rambling, better cut back on the coffee this morning :surfweb:

:surfweb: Still drinking the coffee, so let me ask one more............

I read on another post about CSR and preffered rooms, which I'm sure most of you have read. My question is if I don't want to be in Ranchos, and I have a standard room booked, will that be my only option? If I try and change my reservation to preffered room, will I be guaranteed NOT to be in Ranchos?

Looks like I'm still rambling...

I can sort of answer your question. We rent a car so we drive to the other resorts when we have a meal or just want to stroll around. However, I do know that you can take a bus to one of the parks and then catch a bus to the resort of your choice. For Boma, you could take a cab from the CSR as it is not that far of a ride and probably wouldn't cost too much.

The preferred rooms go into effect January 1. There has been NO official announcement as to which rooms are going to be preferred and which are not. I am going to try to find out while I'm there if they can tell me, but they may not even know yet. The original thought was that it would be Cabanas 9B (and possibly 9A) and Casitas 1, 2 and 3. However, nothing has been written in stone as of yet that we are aware of.

Just did my online check-in this morning. Can't wait.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

If your flying on SW Air, can you use RAC on your check-out day? I read that RAC is available only at certain resorts so far. It would be sooooo nice to not have to lug our luggage through MCO and bypass line for SW Air!

Hi,
We stayed at CS from August 21-28. It was a bit overwhelming at first but we had it figured out by the second day. We were in Ranchos 7A (not my choice) but it ended up working out great for us, 2 adults, and 2 teenagers. We were very close to bus stop #3.

We had breakfast reservations for 5 of our mornings (Deluxe Dining). We were at the bus stop one hour prior to our ADRs and did not have any problems getting to the reservations on time, even when we had to go to the MK to take the monorail to the Poly. for the O'hana Best Friends breakfast.

Most days we came back to our room in mid afternoon, and then hit the bus stop one hour before our dinner reservations, and got to them in plenty of time.

On our last day we had breakfast ADRs for 9:15 at the Polynesian so that we would have time to bring our bags to the Magical Express checkin/luggage room. We caught the bus from the front of the hotel to MK by 8:15, got to the Poly early, ate, spent about an hour and a half on Main Street, then took the bus back to the CS to sit by the pool until our departure time, 2:15. It was a relaxing and wonderful way to end our Magical Vacation!

Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip.
