Just popping in to say...I'm staying at CSR for one night next month, before moving over to the Poly. And after lurking on this thread for a while, I swear I'm more excited about CSR than about the Poly! It looks so gorgeous; I can't wait to see it for myself!

I just booked CSR, too! It will be our 4th stay and we can't wait. This will be our first trip with just DS and me, since Dad decided to stay home with the pets for this trip!!! :scared1: We've vacationed at DW 9 times in 8 years and DH says he needs a break..... Can't wait to get back to one of our favorite resorts!:goodvibes

Since you're only 5 days out, we'll let it slide-but be on it next time! :lmao:

You two are so funny. I promise, next time I'll be on board. :worship:

Welcome. Our two FAVORITE resorts. We love them both; we just prefer the price of CSR a little more (okay, a lot more) than Poly, and the fact it has a hot tub and a fitness center and where I can get a massage.

We've missed you around here. Thanks for stopping in. I can't wait to be "home." We're actually flying in and out of Ft. Myers as we are hanging with Nicki and Todd on Marco Island for awhile.

To whoever asked about the beer!!

My DH got a taxi back from MK via the gas station and picked up beer, water and bits and pieces. (Saved a fortune 24bottles water $5)
He got several comments on his way back from people who loved "his baby" in the stroller!!!

Kathy have a great trip!!

Hi everyone! We just got back yesterday from a 9 night stay at CSR. We loved this resort. I will admit that the first night we were there, we were sort of missing the Ft. Wilderness cabins (mainly because the kids had a separate room and beds to themselves). But the bus system was quicker, and the Pepper Market was FABULOUS! We were first assigned to the Ranchos section -3rd floor- but I asked if they had anything available in the Cabanas area... and they did! So we got building 9A, which is about an equal distance walk from bus stop #4 and #1. That was OK, but we found ourselves standing for the ride to the park if we used #1 (the last stop). (Just a note for anyone going during a busier time of year.) We were able to get a microwave (great because I have a kid with a food allergy and needed to prepare some of his meals). The 'fridge did not work well at all, and we were told it was more of a 'cooling box/cooler' than a refigerator. Umm, no...I didn't buy that excuse, but we didn't get a replacement either. I could have been more forceful on the issue, but we had a 7-day cooler that worked fine for what we needed. Housekeeping was OK, good about supplying extra towels but a little skimpy with the TP. The light fixture and TV/dresser were quite dusty also (but hey, so is mine at home). The bathroom was clean and that's what counts for me. The rest of the resort seemed clean and was very quiet!

The resort size was a little intimidating at first (that is one huge lake!), but since we were up towards the front, it was good. Our biggest surprise at CSR -- Maya Grille! On our last night we were just too darned tired and hot to travel over to Downtown Disney for our Raglan Road reservations, so DH looked at the menu at Maya Grille ("Hey, they've got prime rib!") and we decided to eat there. The prime rib there was one of my husband's favorite meals! (He is picky about his prime rib!) I had the grilled porkchop and thought it was fine. One son had the burger (too big for him so he only ate half but he liked it) and the other had the salmon (glaze seemed a little too sweet for me, but he liked it also). Desserts were OK - seemed like the same things at the other restaurants which isn't necessarily saying that it's a bad thing (a creme brulee, a couple of chocolate concotions, etc). My son did expect a little more to his churros though (looks like they took one long one from the Pepper Market, cut in in thirds, and placed it on a plate with a scoop of ice cream). Now I'm sure I have read bad reviews about Maya Grille before -- but our waiter did tell us that we had the new menu. I'm not sure how new it was actually, but I would feel confident in recommending this place.

I'm sure there's something else I should say but I'm on a Disney downer right now and can't remember it. Oh, did I mention the Pepper Market was FABULOUS! Check their chef's specials - DH had fresh grilled grouper one day for lunch there!

OUCH!!! That is steep.

Well, yeah . . . :rotfl2: And we had a great time! But I am kind of bummed that I don't have a trip planned. ;)

I'm sorry. Hopefully, you'll have one soon.

Smart idea; and thank you!

Thanks for the review, Pam. I'm so glad your family enjoyed CSR. One of these trips, we are going to get to Maya Grill for dinner (we've only done breakfast in our eight previous stays and won't have time this trip). I'm glad they were able to move you to a closer room (I liked Cabanas 9A when we were in that section last year, although I still prefer the Casitas).

Thanks again for reporting back. :)

I just looked at the menu posted on allearsnet.com for Maya Grill. That is NOT the menu we had on Saturday night, so it must have been new. The grilled pork chop I had came with black beans and rice (seasoned nicely) and a tomatilla salsa (yum!). My son's salmon had a tequilla glaze and some sort of side dish of quiona (did I spell that correctly?) with peppers and another vegetable (I can't remember - but it was all quite good). The prime rib had a baked potato and some veggies. I remember there was a pasta dish with shrimp I believe and a NY strip steak. Maybe there was a chicken dish also, but I certainly don't remember the other items that are listed on the menu on allears. I wish I had taken a picture of it now! Sorry!

Hi,
We're staying at CSR for the first time in October. We have reservations at Cali Grill and Jiko. Can anyone tell me the best way to get to each? For Cali Grill - I'm thinking bus to TTC or MK. For Jiko, bus to AK then bus to AKL? Or is there a Blizzard Beach bus? Also, how much time do you think each of these routes will take?

Thanks!

Had a great time!!!:thumbsup2

CSR...

Check in was semi-painless...it was around 2pm Satuday on Labor day weekend...but they were not all that busy...I had a mix-up with my Credit Card...but after a phone call to Chase I got that straightened out.

I booked the trip in June...at that time my Disney Visa expired in Aug 2010...so when they tried to make my KTTW card valid for charging it was declined. I called Chase and they told me what was happening...so I went back to the desk and got that all straightened out.

I had faxed in a request for Cabanas 8B...with alternates for 8A and Ranchos 7B. They were pretty booked up that day...so I got Casitas 3...Room 3291

When I first parked...not knowing the lay of the land I parked in the lot labeled for Casitas 3...mistake. Had a very long walk to the elevators with my Luggage. Later found that it was actually closer for me to Park in the lot labeled for Casitas 1 to get to the elevator and walk to my room.

Room was Clean...the same as my Cabanas room I had in July 2009...just harder to get to. Only complaint I would have is that the water pressure
seemed a little weak in this room???

The Quiet pool for the Casitas was great...never made it over to the Dig Site this time.

Panchitos...my family loves this gift shop. :lovestruc
I like it...except for the fact that my family loves it...they rarely left it without purchasing something.

Pepper Market...I believe we ate there 4 times. once for breakfast...the rest was with the lunch/dinner menus...which had changed since my last visit.

I had...
Chicken Fajitas were OK.
The New York Strip...OK +
Steak Burrito...OK++

The thing I missed was they used to have Salmon...and man was it good...when I could not find it at any of the stations...I was a very sad boy.

Only visited Rix for Beverage refills...did not goto Maya.

As a whole we loved the CSR just as much as we did before...I just wasn't thrilled with our location...we were driving everywhere I would have prefered a spot closer to the parking lot, laundry room and on the ground floor.

Are you going to do a trip report like last time? If so, please link here or send me a PM with the link so I can catch up with it after my trip.

I'm sorry you didn't get your location (I actually liked Casitas 3 when we were there in 2008), but I'm glad that you enjoyed your second stay at the CSR.
