we got a part of that feeder band here too...the wind picked up a bunch with it. We needed the rain though.

Right now I'm glad that Texas is so big. Imagine all of the evacuees from Louisiana and the Texas coast hudded into an area the size of northern Rhode Island.

We should be OK up here. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

I'm really worried about the Galveston seawall and the Houston shipping channel, this isn't going to be pretty at all.

I have an uncle who lives in Beaumont - glad he & his wife got out. That's a big relief - he's had a recent bypass (at 72) and she is 17 years older than he is. My uncle has lived in Beaumont my whole life & this is the first time he has ever evacuated.

My cousin & her husband have decided to stick it out in Houston. Hope they know what they are doing! I think they live in the northern area of town, but still - yikes this thing looks scary!
