Well that’s one way of looking at it. To me, it’s often passive-aggressive - here and there.I have used that emoji on the main community board, mostly out of fear of getting points/banned. Not having to do that over there....is kind of the point.
That is what I would expect. There is another Disney fan forum that had a board for political and world events and it eventually got shut down after the last election. The animosity also seemed to overflow into non-controversial threads. I expect the same will happen here.Hmm, let’s see.
Posters outright saying they’ll feel differently about some posters if their views don’t align with their own.
Bullying and personal attacks.
Laughing emojis.
It does appear to mostly be an echo chamber of left leaning posters high five’ing themselves for their clever and carefree right bashing.
What’s not to love about it?![]()

Believe me - that's not true. I'm currently there representing the "they walk among us" crowd and very few think my views are correct. I don't know Cory well enough to know where he comes down, but he didn't require any sort of litmus test to get in and nothing I've said has been altered in any way.Only special people with the "correct" view are allowed to post there is my guess. Like most things these days it's censored. They had a board like this on another fan site and it didn't end well.

I expect it will happen again here. This board won't stay polite and pleasant. When people have that much contempt for another, it's not going to just stay on the one board.
Good to know. I wish you good luck with the echo chamber. I’m not sure what’s behind needing permission to join. It’s fairly new though. I’m sure at some point the mods will have to step in and play referee.Believe me - that's not true. This is assuming that the contempt hasn't always been present.Yes, that happened when we had the Debate Board. Some people would post something here or make a comment and then someone (or a few) would go after that person, in a way you knew it was over the top to what they were commenting on. Like there was some definite history going on. I finally peeked in on the Debate Board and it was the same people going after each other.

I joined, but will likely rarely post there. I'd rather know what's being discussed than trying to guess. That's what I'm afraid of too, and I still haven't decided whether to join the new board. I'm not sure I want to invest much time in controversial topics, but I also don't want to struggle to figure out where things are coming from on the main boards.
Ooops - didn't get my actual post in - sorry.Good to know. I wish you good luck with the echo chamber. I’m not sure what’s behind needing permission to join. It’s fairly new though. I’m sure at some point the mods will have to step in and play referee.
Mainly right now there are a dozen or so very angry negative posters patting each other on the back. Very well could just end up staying that way with other posters mostly coming and going.Good to know. I wish you good luck with the echo chamber. While I'm sure that's part of it (and I actually like the idea of managing your media diet) I thought the main reason was to avoid attracting searches - to keep this primarily a Disney board. It's 100% to protect those who don't even want to have to be exposed to thread titles that might upset them, or tempt them into potentially upsetting interactions. Upthread we went over and over why it is or isn't necessary; to me, grown adults needing that degree of "safe spacing" seems ridiculous, yet here we are.
I don't plan to join but curious, are many of those thousand posts, "I'm glad to be here", "didn't expect to see you", etc. vs speaking on the topic posted?Oh, for those even semi-interested, the CT board is currently listed as having 1.5k posts. A couple of threads were moved over from the community board, but that probably only accounts for maybe 600 posts. So you're still looking at nearly a thousand posts in less than three days. How many posts does the CB usually get in the same time frame?
Hopefully it will get better for you, DC.I wouldn’t say I’m right leaning. I’m agnostic.. and fed up with all of it.
None of thatI don't plan to join but curious, are many of those thousand posts, "I'm glad to be here", "didn't expect to see you", etc. vs speaking on the topic posted?
Having to create a guarded section on a discussion Forum that requires one to be an adult to join in the first place is ludicrous.Ooops - didn't get my actual post in - sorry.

I haven't seen any very angry posters. The arguments have been pretty civil. I'll tall you what though. I wish more conservatives would join and engage.Mainly right now there are a dozen or so very angry negative posters patting each other on the back.
