Hello. We are staying at BLT next week :yay: and I was wondering if anyone can tell me approximately how long it takes to walk to the MK and taking the monorail. Obviously, it will be hot and I know we will take advantage of the monorail most times. I know the route is opposite going in and going out so I would really appreciate any info on about how long it takes both ways since we want to do some AM EMH. Thanks so much!

Walking takes between 5 - 10 mins depending upon how fast you walk. Monorail is probably about 20 mins.

Much quicker walking. Even at a slow pace you will be ahead of the game.

Plus we found that during certain times the monorail was so packed at CR that we couldn't get on. It leaves the MK pretty full and the 1st stop is CR. Not many get off so if there is a decent line you might have to wait for a few monorails before you can get on. We found this the case a lot.

My understanding is that walking TO the Magic Kingdom is faster than taking the Monorail. The train will make several stops before reaching MK.

Returning, however, is a toss-up. The monorail will stop at the Contemporary first, so it can be quicker (but at the end of a park day, that monorail will be packed). It may still be slower, however, if you just missed a train.

Walking can only take 6-10 minutes either way.

The resort monorail goes clockwise. With the MK at 12, the Contemporary would be at about 2, the TTC about 6, the Poly about 7 and the GF about 10. So, in order to go from the Contemporary to the MK on the monorail, you would first travel to the TTC, wait there to unload/load; on to the Poly, wait there to unload/load; then to the GF, wait there to unload/load; before finally getting to the MK. I'd expect this to take 20+ minutes as long as there aren't other delays on the track.

Of course, the trip back is just one stop to get from the MK to the Contemporary.

We have stayed at BLT and always walked to the MK, even on the way back to the resort. I found it easier to walk than climb up the monorail incline at the end of the day when you are tired!

When we stayed at BLT last June, we always walked to and from MK. I agree. By the time you trek up to the monorail you could be half way back to BLT. Besides, it's a nice walk. It sometimes takes us longer as we look at the bricks to see where people were from. Have a wonderful. :flower3:

Thank you so much everyone! I wanted to know too, if it was well lit as I am anticipating some late nights at the MK!

Stayed there in the past and walked to Magic Kingdom. It only took about 5 to 10 minutes. It is a nice short walk, easier than the monorail. :thumbsup2

It is such a nice walk! This is the reason we've booked the CR for our Mickeys Not So Scary Haloween Party night ... After the fun is over, we'll just have a short walk!

Yes its very well lit. You do have to cross the street though BUT there is a cross walk so just pay attention to when its your turn.

I agree that walking from the Contemporary to the Magic Kingdom is a lot faster which is about a 10 minute walk since the Resort Monorail will stop at the Transportation & Ticket Center, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian before it arrives at the Magic Kingdom.

Also here is an overhead picture of what the walkway from the Contemporary to the Magic Kingdom looks like.

Walking will make your life so much easier. I was so grateful I was staying at CR during my May trip because it was so crowded at the monorail and buses when my gramma and I were leaving MK so we walked to CR. Very easy to get to and a quick walk.
