Contemporary Suites Permits

Have no idea on the time frame, but my guess is AKV which has been confirmed, then CA, then Contemporary. I don't think Contemporary is out and this paperwork, which for some reason, I can't access; is just not going to happen as soon as orginially planned.

Ok, what are yall able to find here? All I can find when I search under Disney and Contemporary Suites is a permit for water something. Nothing about a building or anything.

what am I doing wrong. I did find some SSR premits and they all were issued to Jim Lewis. Don't you think if DVC was going in at Contemporary his name would be on them. :confused3

If I could see what the rest of you are seeing I might could give an opinion.

I don't know why, but I can't get any of the links to this site to work. Go to the site http://my.sfwmd.gov/ePermitting/PopulateLOVs.do?flag=1 .

Search by company name only- Disney. Change the date perameters to limit the entries. Contemporary Suites should be the second listing.

Go to http://my.sfwmd.gov/ePermitting/PopulateLOVs.do?flag=1

In the "Application #:" field, type 061106-23

Do not bother filling in any other fields.

Press the "Run Report" button.

You should get one result (for project Disney's Contemporary Suites).

Click on the blue text "Appl No#:"

You should get a page which includes three folders with a total of six PDF files.

Open the PDF files (some of which are quite large), and read all about it!

For those of us with enough Disney Pixie Dust to KNOW that the CRV are only a matter of when not if, have no trouble getting the links and site to work.

As for all you DIS-belivers and nay sayers out there.......:confused3

P.S. I vote with Sammie, *HE* is right about AKL, CAL, then CRV by 2012.

Geez...just when we think we can put a rumor to rest...

:rotfl2:

It will be fun to see how this plays out. I agree with others:

AKV
DVC in California
Contemp. DVC

Geez. I'm still able to do it. Maybe this link directly to the biggest file will work for you:

http://my.sfwmd.gov/cmsdk/content/i...pplications/061106-23file2_ApplDocs_78670.pdf

Nope, now I just get a blank page. I do think there is something untold about what is going on at CR, but if it's DVC or not, remains to be seen. I agree about the order of how things will be added. The only thing unknown is what about the River Country site, should that be determined to be turned into a DVC resort.

I was thinking the same thing.

Several "rumors" has Disney actively marketing the Contemporary as a convention hotel for groups that are looking for accomodations superior to CSR. The success of those efforts may determine if DVC at the Contemporary re-surfaces.

DVC likes to use existing infra-struture. Construction near River Country would fit that model. They could use part of FW or just start with RC and possibly some land between RC and VWL.

I don't buy into the line of speculation that WDW might be building these Contemporary Suites as an addition to the Contemporary Resort.

I'd bet that the distinctions noted on the permit apps (VAKL vs. Contemporary Suites) simply are a byproduct of who within the Disney organization already owns what. Afterall, in the end it's the same company and I don't see them transferring ownership of property just so they can list things one way versus another on a permit app.

I also don't see Disney taking the investment risk on a new 16 story all suites hotel at this time. That is an awful lot of money to lay out when they could just rehab the North Garden Wing. I'm not sure Disney would risk the capital on the assumption that hotel occupancy rates and demand for all suites accomodations will rise that much. Compare that to the DVC model where Disney sells the ownership up front and maintains the property with somebody else's money...........well, that is a much less risky proposition. Disney these days seems much more interested in taking the up front easy money (the DVC model) as opposed to investing serious capital at their own risk to improve the property any more than they have to.

As for the room layout that was posted......looks a lot like a DVC 2 BR unit to me. The MBR with the king bed and the whirlpool bath/laundry off that........just the way it is now. The studio on the other side with two queen beds and a small galley kitchen..........very familiar to existing dedicated 2 BR set ups. The center area looks very familiar as well. Walk in past a entry table/closet, the full kitchen is next with a seating surface, that leading into the open living room with a pull out. How is that not like the current setup?

Have to agree the timing on all the documents is interesting, so perhaps CRV is alive. I think that is smore likely than Disney just building a new suites hotel attached to the Contemporary.

Wanna bet it's a name picked out of a hat by the person drawing up the plans?

I totally agree. I could possibly see a portion of the new tower being held for cash, but not the whole thing. Also, I agree that there is no issue with the differing ownership of VAKL and the Contemporary Suites. On the permits and tax appraisal information, BCV is owned by WDW Co. whereas SSR is owned by WDW Hospitality. It's just a matter of which entity already owned the land, IMHO.

It may not be that far off the mark for the permits to go through now. There is already a notice of commencement for the VAKL annex to get started- it expires April 2009. Now there's the speculation that DVC will be announced at DLR later this month. That could be built at the same time as VAKL. If it is only 50 units, I'd think it would sell out quickly and also boost sales at VAKL. Building the CRV as proposed- 16 stories and the foundation to support it- would have to take a significant amount of time. Also, I would think the tower would have to be pretty far along or maybe close to completion before they could sell points, right?

Sammie...My dear old Sammie....how I love ya...my dear old Sammie!!

I thought you Knew!!! -- don't you have a direct line to Iger's private office?!??? ;)

Boy I am puzzled on this one. My source told me a couple weeks ago this was not so...yet the paperwork...hmmmm...never confuse a good story with the facts :rotfl2:

I tried calling her, but wasn't able to get through (maybe she saw my number on caller Id).

For those of you really wanting CRV, I hope this pans out.

Actually, the SSR land and the OKW land are both owned by Lake Buena Vista Communities, Inc. Then SSR is leased by WDW Hospitality and OKW is leased to Disney Vacation Development.
