Contemporary Suites Permits

I downloading the whole proposal and page 12 lists the project as a proposed DVC to be built at the contemporary resort. Gives the details on what will be done and how they will do it. It is dated May 23, 2006 , but the plans are there. If they start taking down the existing buildings and a huge building goes up, then I expect it would be a DVC, according to this outline. Only time will tell.

Sammie...My dear old Sammie....how I love ya...my dear old Sammie!!

I thought you Knew!!! -- don't you have a direct line to Iger's private office?!??? ;)

Naw, only know one person in CA, my sources are at WDW.

I think that is a very accurate appraisal.

That is what I'm thinking! It clearly states on the proposal for DVC that the existing structure come down first. So, if the are just remodeling, then it probably isn't going to be DVC!????
popcorn:: popcorn::

I have to admit, I probably wouldn't buy there, but I sure would love to stay there at least once!

I was looking at pages 4 and 5 of the second document, and noticed something interesting... the original Disney document name is listed on the bottom of those pages.

...and part of the file name is DVC_at_the_Contemporary_Resort... seems promising!

Actually, the SSR land and the OKW land are both owned by Lake Buena Vista Communities, Inc. Then SSR is leased by WDW Hospitality and OKW is leased to Disney Vacation Development.

Honestly, I have no idea about leasing to DVD. :confused3

I was just trying to address the question about the owners on the SFWMD permits being different for VAKL (WDW Hospitality) and Contemporary Suites (WDW Co). I looked through some of the older records and while VAKL is WDW Hospitality, BCV is WDW Co. The data on SFWMD match the OC Property Appraisers site. It shows the owners for VAKL, SSR, and OKW as WDW Hospitality, but Contemporary and BCV are WDW CO.

Again, I have no idea about anything related to leasing. The point I was trying to make is that just because the document for the Contemporary Suites doesn't match the one for VAKL, it doesn't mean the Contemporary won't be DVC.

Well this was a fun read.... I look forward to how it all pans out. I dont think we would by there, but I wouldn't mind staying there once or twice, if we can book it at 7 months... ;)

Today two sources (neither very reliable) both said the Contemporary DVC is a go. One was totally unsolicited. Based on other reports of it being a 'no go', I'm not ready to believe it yet.

Did go by the Contemporary today, and from outward appearances it's not possible to tell if the work being done is the beginning of a rehab, or preparation for demolition.

Both the playground and tennis courts are within the fenced off area. The playground is still there, but the tennis courts are being demolished.

This is all very interesting! I can't wait to find out exactly what is going on with the north tower. When we were staying at the Contemporary in October, we were told by several CM's that DVC is going to happen there. We even talked with one of the Contemporary managers, and he said that they were gutting out the north tower and were going to sell off all the usable items, before the demolition begins. :confused3 I just don't know! But I love a good mystery! :surfweb:

Wear any of the windows covered? Someone reported that there were a lot of missing windows left open to the elements... wondered if that still holds true..

Now, this caught my eye. Do you know if they are demolishing all of the courts, or just the sections closest to the north wing? In the drawing included in the Contemporary Suites permits, it shows 2 courts side by side. I've never used the courts at the Contemporary, so I looked up the aerial view on the appraisers site. It shows 3 sections of 2 courts- 6 total. Is it just me, or does it look like maybe the Contemporary Suites will take out 4 courts and leave only 2? Again, I've never been to the tennis courts, so if I'm missing something, please let me know!

Also, does anyone have any info on the reasoning for demolishing the courts if it is just a standard rehab?

Here you go:

When I was there last week, the windows were wide open and the rooms were being gutted. Dumpsters full of HVAC ductwork and copper pipe were being torn out. I heard a piece of parking lot is being torn out this week.

In other news, the Fantasia store is boarded up and shut down. Concourse Gifts and Sundries is to remain open with the arcade moving to the Fantasia area. Merchandise has been moved out into the Concourse.

Yes, this is all well and good, but do any of the documents show the PeopleMover expansion from Tomorrowland directly to the new building? I'm not buying if we don't get our DVC exclusive entrance to the Magic Kingdom. ;)

Seriously though, nothing is official until an announcement is made...oh wait, even then nothing is official (Eagle Pines :rolleyes1 ). I thought I would give up on the waiting game for a few years after AKLV was announced and now everybody is getting my hopes up again. Thanks alot:mad: I guess I have to hold off on getting that root canal I was looking forward to so I can continue saving my pennies for a CRV contract again.

Regards,
Dan

p.s. how sad am I that Grim Grinning Ghosts just came up on my iPod?

My wife is reluctant about dvc, but this potential dvc has kind of grabbed her attention. The up front cost scares her on any dvc, not to mention what a dvc at the Contemporary would probably cost.

I hope that this is not off topic, but just for fun: What would you think the price per point would be for this dream dvc of ours? I figure add $3 a point (starting at $104) per year for about five years (approx. opening date of 2012) = $119. Then add a premium of $10 due to location, demand, and because they can and you get $129 a point. What do you think?

sounds about right too me.

the only problem could be if AKV were more popular and Disney had to upscale the price (like at SSR) to kept the sales more in line with the building going up.

I really, really want a DVC resort at the COnt... but at the rate they are going mother will be dead first...

It seems like the price per point on this hopeful DVC is the Hot topic with people I know. In fact, a Disney fan like Chip n Dale's Dad just last night was wondering the same thing! Another thread is saying that they have information that this is a dead project though. I guess we will just have to wait and see!

:yay:  princess: pirate: :cool2:

I will be down there from 1/21-1/26 and will make sure to come back with photos of what's currently going on. I am very interested in this as well.
