ok i have never sold stuff at one but i have a two pairs of shoes NIB and two other pairs that are almost new. I also have a handful of clothes NWT and accessories in great condition. so i thought i would try to sell instead of donating.

what is a fair price for them to sell say a pair of brand new sneakers for?

what is a fair percentage for them to take?

anything is better than nothing but i dont want to waste the time to sort the stuff out to find it wasnt worth the money i got back.

Most consignment shops will give you a certain percentage of the sale. I take my kids clothes to one and I get 50% of what they sell for. There is an adult one right next door to the children one and they only give you 40% of what it is sold for. I am happy with what ever I get because I no longer need them. And most consignment shop are pretty fussy about the condition and brands they except. The other thing I like about where I take my kids clothes is if it doesn't sell you can either pick it up or they will give it to a shelter.

I regularly use three different consignment shops to sell my kids clothes, toys, books, videos, etc. The store sets the price on the items and I get 50% of the price it sold for in store credit or 40% in cash. I think it's better than nothing because once my kids outgrow it, we really have no use for it. The stores are very selective on the brands they sell, so you are lucky that your clothes still have tags and the shoes are still in the box! If the items don't sell at the end of three months, then they are donated to a local charity and I pick up a printout/receipt of those items at the end of the year and deduct the value of the items from our taxes.

The consignment store we used to have here in town said they charged about 50% of the retail price, and you got half of that, so you would get 25% of the retail price. But they went out of business, so... :confused3

thanks for the information. some of the stuff i got on clearance so i figure since i maybe only pai 25% of the full value i wont do too bad then. also one of the pairs of shoes NIB was given to me so thats complete profit. ill have to look into some local places and pick one now that i know i wont be ripped off by being underpriced.

Personally I would sell them on ebay, and make more money than at a consignment. Thats just my opinion!:confused3
:thumbsup2
