Considering using a travel agent next trip--how do I decide which one

I know we aren't allowed to discuss specific travel agents as Disboards is sponsored by Dreams Unlimited, but how do you go about finding a reputable travel agent who offers discounts? Do you just google it and hope for the best? I'm planning to stay at a Value Resort, so do any TA offer discounts on these resorts other than whatever special Disney is offering at the moment? I greatly appreciate the advice/information!

I just looked at an email from my TA and although most of the offers are for various mod and deluxe categories, there was one offer for All Star Sports and a lot of offers for POP.

Depending on which TA you use, they will have various agency exclusive offers going on that you can google.

Yeah. Not allowed to discuss certain TAs on the disboards. You may have to look on other boards that do not have a TA sponsoring them in order to find one that discounts above and beyond the usual Disney discounts. Or else google. I can't even give you keywords to use in your search. Got jumped on by a webmaster for even doing that.

Otherwise, Orbitz often has discount codes that can be applied to Disney Resorts that are already discounted. There are quirks associated with booking thru Orbitz, so you might want to familiarize yourself with them before you book.

I prefer a local TA. Ask your friends if they use a TA, and if they like them. A good TA is worth their weight in gold.
