Three Things...Gratitude Thread

IMG_3497.jpeg
It's Maine's turn to have its own day, so if that's your state or where you like to vacation, please tell us what you love about it!! 🦞🫐

Otherwise, today's topic (Sun, 12/21) - 3 things you're grateful for that come from Maine or start with the letter M.

1. My Mother passed away from cancer during my first semester in college, and within months, my Father moved to Florida leaving me with the mortgage and all of the bills. While mourning her death, I was forced to put myself through college working full-time nights 4:30-11:30PM and Saturday mornings. I took in roommates to help me pay the bills. It took me six years and a lot of debt to do it, but I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education when all was said and done.

2. IVF. After three years of struggling with infertility due to endometriosis, I gave birth to my daughter. She is the BEST, most important person in my life.

3. I detached from a very close family member whose substance abuse caused me to suffer terribly. With the help of Al Anon and God, I was able to choose my own wellbeing. I still love her, but I can’t allow her to destroy me.

Maine is one of the remaining nine states that I have yet to visit, so just going with M things…

Madrigals- DD19 sang with them back in her high school days and the group has been caroling around our neighborhood in full costume this year. Great music, so much talent, and super festive.

Molds- I may decide in a few days that I’m not so grateful, but I’m thankful that they exist and are more reasonable than pans so that I can try a new approach with my holiday baking and decorating.

Mutts- I certainly have my favorite purebred dog breeds but as a person that’s done quite a bit of shelter work, I love mutts. Aside from their higher need for adoption and far cheaper price tags, they often win the genetic lottery compared to purebreds.

Maine - my birth state - the state where all my relatives live the state my parents were born and raised in I have visited several times once in the winter I think that’s where I develop my hatred of winter 🥶 but I did not grow up in the state of Maine

Lobsters 🦞 my father’s family lobsters for a living so I have been fortunate to be able to go out on the boat and collect lobsters 🦞 that was great fun and then of course we got to enjoy some lobsters that was even more fun it is and will always be my favorite seafood

Arcadia national Park Cadillac Mountain absolutely gorgeous

Stephen King I had a fortunate pleasure as a kid to get to go by and see Stephen King’s house ❤️ he is my favorite author

I enjoyed going to Maine in the summer it beat the weather we had here in my home state and I especially enjoyed my relatives coming to my state in the summer and watching them die from the heat and humidity since they made so much fun of me when I was up there in the winter🤣🤣🤣 it was really funny they were only here in May and it wasn’t even that hot I’m like try coming out here in July or August🥵🥵🥵 but I also found it just flabbergasting that they didn’t have air-conditioning I was so shocked when I was up there in the winter and it was snowing so hard that my uncle who is only two years older than me was not gonna get out of school for a snow day because where I lived we went to head school that day🤣🤣🤣

Maine is a beautiful state to go visit there are a lot of great things to go see I highly recommend it during the summer or fall to see the foliage I do not recommend the winter unless you love the cold and you love the snow

Good Sunday Morning

#1 - MONEY - As in cash money. I’m always grateful for the cash I carry to pay for items that are under $20 and to give servers tips at restaurants. I know carrying cash isn’t popular anymore, but I always try to carry about $50-$100 on me.

#2 - MY MOM - I’m grateful that after being diagnosed with a terminal lung disease last March, that she’s still here for another Christmas. Thanks be to God!

#3 - MICROWAVE - You don’t realize how grateful you are for it until it doesn’t work.

Good Sunday morning, friends from cool CA. I wish the weather inside this place were warmer right now. Too cold for me!

Grateful to God for each moment of life. My name starts with an M. I also do believe every day is a miracle. I pray to be thanking Him with faithful and kind witness.

M, the head maintenance man here does a wonderful job.

M, in the kitchen here is always feisty and friendly. I also every now and then have a therapist named M.

I agree with many of you!
1.MOM- greatful for another year with mine and being one to my kids
2. MIRACLES- thank you God for the many YOU perform everyday.
3. MONEY- to pay bills and bless others.
4. MEMORIES- To enjoy good times over and over.
5. MUSIC - to bring joy to a day, to trigger a memory, to make a new memory.

Evening all,

I've never been to Maine, but I would love to one day, so I'll go with the letter M but my final choice being Maine inspired:

1. Microwave - I second this one. I spend a lot of time batch cooking and freezing meals, so I wouldn't survive without a microwave! I also have a habit of leaving cups of hot drinks to go cold, so this helps me heat them back up.

2. MAC Makeup - I've never been a fan of heavy make up and found a lot of the foundations I've tried just didn't sit right and looked awful with my skin type, that was until I tried MAC's powder foundation and now I couldn't live without it. I use a few of their other products too now and wish I'd discovered them all sooner!

3. Stephen King - like WDWEPCOT, Stephen King is my favourite author so super grateful to Maine for him!

And I'm so jealous of this!

Maine things I am grateful for:

Cousin Debbie lives in Maine, and we visited her in September, in Portsmouth!
Maine Lobsters, the best!
Acadia NP in Bar Harbor Maine! Also, when we visited Bar Harbor, years ago, we had our first taste of vanilla yogurt with Maine Blueberries. Vanilla Yogurt with blueberries is a morning staple now 80% of our mornings!

Arcadia Park... phillpe Cousteau did a segment on the park and I can understand the draw.... you could see and participate...whereas Grand canyon... Crater lake,...look over the rim and you are done...
Joshua Tree national Park is also a place to participate....if you seek the solace it offers.... most folks just stay on the trails... but if you go off trail it is wonderful.

Oregon volcano Mt Hood in summer allows you to hike or take a chair lift on barren surface and you can see the southern volcanos

Mounds... Yuma has two and one I want to believe was the ancient refuge from the massive flooding of the Colorado River...now it houses reservation management... anyhow it's the place where the elders could point to the rising sun today and say that the sun is now moving back to growing season . using those distance peaks..on Christmas Day this parking lot will be full of spiritualists

Beautiful photo Curtis!

I love Maine! It’s been a long time since we’ve been there. I’m sure my DH would blame all the trips we’ve taken to WDW :)
3 Maine things I love:
Blueberries
Lobster
Acadia National Park
We also made a side trip to Bangor to see Stephen King’s house when we were there. He was inside recuperating from that terrible accident when a van hit him while he was out walking.
My DD had UofSM as one of her safe schools, but we decided it was just too far to go and visit her and see her in any of her theatrical productions.

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

#1 - Violet Crawley - From Downton Abbey. She reminds me so much of my grandma.

#2 - Dr. Mark Green - From E.R. The show was never the same after he died

#3 - Jack Bartlett - From Heartland. He’s such a beloved character on this show

Maine Coon Cats / how could I forget those I’ve only owned a few 🤣🤣🤣🤣 they are wonderful cats they think their dogs they are absolutely wonderful cats to own I would highly recommend them they’re hard to find and they are a bit pricey but they are absolutely great cats to have for a great starter cat if you’re not sure you’re into cats because seriously they think their dogs

TV character characters

Lucille Ball - I absolutely adore her I have liked her and her TV shows and movies I liked her and everything I have seen her in and I enjoyed her as a person in real life I absolutely adore her

The Middle - I will go with all the characters on this TV show the whole family I really enjoy this TV show because I think it represents to average American family I think they did an awesome job through the whole series of representing the average American family and the things that the average American family goes through I think they did a great job and I think it’s a really entertaining TV show

Once upon a Time - this is another TV show that I absolutely loved every single character in it and I can watch it over and over and never get tired of it Mr. Hook I think was absolutely great in the show
