My family of 5 (2 adults, 17 and 13 dd's and 5 yr. old ds) are considering staying at Ft. Wilderness for the first time. Our only real concern is that it might lack the Disney "magic". Please tell me about your stay and how magical it was. Thank you ! :)

You also might want to post this at the Camping at DW forum as well. You will really get the feedback there.

We have stayed at FW probably more than any other resort. It is tranquil and relaxing. There is so much to do there that I know many guest who stay there and never set food in the park.

Biking, Petting Zoo, a great campfire with chip and dale. We especially enjoy the boats to MK, CR & WL.

The Cabins are very nice and it is nice to have a LR and Kitchen. Not to mention the wonderful deck where you can sit and people watch.

Dont worry it is still a magical experience.

We're going back to the Fort soon, and we can't wait! If you love the peaceful outdoors, you will love FW. We love to rent a golf cart and scoot around the place, and use it to ride down to the boat launch also. There is a little table with 2 chairs in the living area, a TV with a VCR and a murphy bed. We loved to gather in the living area and sit at the table at the end of the day and talk about all of our adventures.

Your teenagers will love the Meadows pool as that seems to be the gathering place after the parks close. I think everyone is so friendly there, and the staff is friendly as well.

There is also a grill and a deck with a picnic table at the cabin. I think it really gives you lots of room to spread out. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator with an ice maker. We just really think it is one of the best values out there.

I wanted to try something different this year, just to compare, but my kids (16 y/o twins) voted me down! They love FW and don't want to go anywhere else.

Also, the beach at night is really nice to watch the fireworks and electrical water parade. My daughter can't wait to go back to the campfire movie program. I just really think there is a lot for your money at FW. I'm sorry. I meant the table and chairs are child'sized. There is a dining table with seating for 6 also.

We stayed in a cabin last year for the first time( 2 adults, 4kids and infant). I was really worried because I had always said that I was not going all the way to WDW to camp. Well we had a great time. I don't think you lose any of the "magic" at all. You can take a boat to MK which is very handy, watch the fireworks from the beach, go the the Chip & Dale sing-a-long campfire, and eat breakfast at Trail's End - full buffet including Mickey waffles! Hoop-de-Doo Musical Revue is right there.

While the pool isn't themed it is big and nice, plus we were too busy to spend much time at the pool. The cabins are really a good size, huge bathroom and lots of towels. The convience of the kitchen was really handy - DH could throw a waffle in the toaster and feed the kids while I took a shower in the morning. At night we could snack of popcorn or cookies.

We loved it and look forward to returning(fingers crossed)this summer. My biggest concern it that "people" will find out how nice it is(and cost effective) and then it will be hard to book a cabin.

Good luck.:D
