G's maman- sorry auto spell!
Can you give me am example of your resorts you own at and how you borrowed or combined a reservation? Do you have same UY? How many are direct vs resale?
It does all get confusing! My husbands eyes just kinda glazes over when I go into my DVC planning mode and try to explain what Im trying to do.

For example, if the transferred in points were BWV points with a December 2013 use year, they remain that way after theyre transferred into your account even though BWV is not your home resort and your use year is June. You wont be able to combine the BWV points at the 11 month mark with your non-BWV points. You can make reservations starting 11 months out with those transferred in BWV points at BWV. However, at the 7 month mark all points are treated the same just like any other points. At the 7 month mark, youll be able to combine the transferred in BWV points with other points that you own at your home resort.
We used to own points at five resorts, but now we own at three: the Grand Floridian, BCV, and Aulani (all purchased direct and all with the same use year). We sold our VWL and Grand Californian points (both purchased resale) when we realized we werent actually staying at those resorts, but using the points as a way of upgrading our accommodations at the 7 month mark. The home resorts we own at guarantee that we have a room, but having extra points means we can upgrade the size of our room/view at the 7 month mark, subject to availability of course. For Thanksgiving this year, we will be staying at the Grand Floridian using banked, current and borrowed points from our account and then going on a cruise. When we return, well use transferred in BWV points for our stay post cruise. My brother and his family will likely join us, but they have also backed out on us before. By using transferred in points, we can cancel his reservation if we need to and with sufficient notice we wont lose any points. In the whole scheme of things, the transferred in points are really not costing us too much more than if we owned the points. If we owned, we would still have to pay maintenance fees so the transferred in points are actually costing us between $5-$7 a point, with no long term commitment or upfront costs. Depending on where we get our transferred in points from, we also get to try new resorts with the advantage of the home booking priority.
A few things you should note is that you are only allowed one transfer (either in or out) per use year. You can bank the transferred points, but not borrow them. The transferred in points wont appear in your online account and youll have to phone MS to make your reservations. Have I lost you yet?
