another version of that stroganoff, without the soy-based product, is to make the sauce with plain non-fat yogurt and one block of tofu. you put all of the stuff in a blender, then heat it up for about 15 minutes to rehydrate the seasonings. i add a little oil for consistency.

morning star farms makes some good vegetarian stuff (fake bacon [i call it fakon], grillers prime [prime ONLY, not vegan or regular], that ground beef lookin' stuff, but some of the stuff is heinous too. if you/daughter decide to give it a try, i'll gladly provide an opinion for you prior to purchasing.

i forgot to mention...their hot dogs (they come frozen) taste like hot dogs. nothing else does.

She is a senior in college and a committed vegetarian. She gives me a list of acceptable food items (like tofu and sweet potatoes) to have in the house, when she comes home.

How funny, though, "hot dogs"; I just found out I was given a reprieve from cooking because DH decided he wanted nachos and hot dogs, while he watched some game. Thank heavens for procrastination!

 Are you referring to the Panthers vs Cardinals as SOME game??:sad2: :lmao:

i'm addicted to welch's grape juice.

(felt like i should confess to somebody. )

I know it is because my mother used to give me this as a child as the ultimate treat, but I think it tastes like nectar from the gods. I have never acquired a taste for red wine because I always think, "What a waste of some good grape juice."

i'll take the antidote...it's fun to try the baked goods at least.

regarding decorating dust's radical christian suggestion: there were those abortion clinic bombings...
As for your secret comments, yup. There are some hateful idiots out there. :sad2:

My grandmother used to give it to me and I love welch's grape juice. Perhaps thats why I never drink wine or champagne.

HA! sounds like a fun-food night!

how funny! my brother always drank grape juice, preferred grape popsicles, etc., but not me. lately i'm all about the grape, but this JUICE!!! i agree..nectar from the gods...and it is supposed to be wonderfully healthful so i feel perfectly justified.

as for wine...half of my ancestry is french, and still most alcohol, including wine, tastes like lawn fertilizer mixed with poison to me. and about a teaspoon of any alcohol drink and i feel the need to sleep. i'd rather have grape juice too.

Lawn fertilizer mixed with poison, now that is a yummy thought!

I also like the cranberry-grape juice, but I worry it is not enough juice. And the white grape juice seems absolutely decadent.

PS Shouldn't you be in some sort of 12-step program, if you are French and don't like wine? Isn't that sacrilegious or something; marked on your passport? :rotfl:

I asked this before, so I apologize for boring you guys...but I just can't decide.

Here's the scoop:

I'm taking 3 of my 5 kids at the end of Jan. for 2 weeks. Older 2 kids are in college and high school sports...can't go. I was just going to get us 10-day hoppers, but my travel agent worked real hard to get me the AP rate for all 15 nights. So, I will have an AP.

My option is to get the other 3 kids AP's, or just get them the 10-day hoppers. The difference is about $200 each...or $600 total.

At this point, I don't have a scheduled trip in the works. But, my oldest says his college starts back later in Jan., so a mid-Jan. 2010 trip is a possibility (before these AP's would expire). I checked my miles, and we have enough miles for free tickets.

The clincher would be if there are seats available using those miles, and I can't find that out until March. So, I'd be taking gamble that we could get free miles. Then with the AP's already in hand, all we would need is hotel $$, which seems to be decent in Value season.

So...that's my dilemma. My heart tells me to get the AP's and go have a ball, and just hope things work out for 2010. But then again, I don't want to be financially foolish.

Argh! I hate making decisions.

If you go again within the year, will the tickets you get be below $200 or above and by how much? In otherwords, how much extra will you be spending if you go back and didn't get them?

When I made my decision, it was between a 10 day no expiration and an AP. To go with the AP since all my trips would be within a year was a no-brainer. In your situation, I'm not so sure I would buy everyone AP's. I would definitely get yourself one (uh duh) but if you're not sure if you're going back, that's $600 down the drain :scared:

yeah, i think it'd make me an outcast in france, but i'd just blame it on the other half which is english. why not.

Waste? No way! It's grape juice with an added bonus, I say. ;)

Good points...

10-day hoppers are $305.66. AP's are $499.49. So that is where I get the 'about' $200 extra per kid (3 kids). So, if I didn't get the AP's, and ended up going back in Jan. 2010, then it would cost me $900 for the 3 kids' 10-day hoppers again....or $600 extra this trip if I did get the AP's. So...a $300 difference.

Does that make sense?

Even if you can't get down for the 10 day trip and only a 5 day, the AP's would make sense. It's just a matter of being sure that it's in the same year. Maybe I'm stingy, but I have a hard time justifying $600 for "what if..."

That being said, I've found lots of excuses for going to Disney this year...

It helps when my parents live within an hour :goodvibes
