Conservative Thread: U.S. Steele - Back In Business

Hi! Welcome to the thread if I haven't welcomed you before!

I actually like Beckel. He's not a nutcase. I don't agree with anything he says, but at least he doesn't scream it.

All of that being said, I just saw him a few days ago on some channel (probably FOX) stating that the Republican party will be extinct within a few years and is no longer relevant. Guess that ain't true, huh Bob?

I listen to Bill Bennett in the morning when I take the kids to school and the last hour Michael Steele is on, so I get to hear him for a few minutes on the ride back home. I really like this guy. I had no idea that he was in the seminary.

He's someone I'd love to sit down and just talk. He seems to be a genuinely nice guy.

I really like Steele, too. And Beckel's piece cracked me up because I'm sure he thought his warning that "Steele's no moderate" would make people gasp, and I was like, "Yes! That's what I wanna hear!" I was getting a little worried that he really was a moderate — and we don't need a bunch of panty-waists right now trying to make nice with the most far-left administration in this nation's history. This is nooooo time for moderates, though I'm glad the media thinks he's one — that's even better: a conservative in moderate's clothing!

Morning All. Charles Krauthammer has a piece in today's Washington Post that is well worth a read. I LOVE his title. After Obama's "warning" that the porkulus bill must be passed NOW or catastrophe will follow, Krauthammer titled his piece "The Fierce Urgency of Pork." What a great — and apt — title.

I love Krauthammer's perspective on current events.

Military Drops Cole Bombing Charges ... For Now and Possibly Forever

I think this is a reaaaaaaaaaaally bad idea for all of us, as it signals to our enemies that we are weak.

I feel just terrible for the families of those who died on the USS Cole.

I am thinking the "Bush Lied" crowd will view this as a victory.

Funny, that.

The survivors and families of those who died must be so angry right now.

Did you see that Obama has named General Electric Co. CEO Jeffrey R. Immelt to his economic advisory team.

This is the guy that has sent GE stock in a hopeless downward spiral. He runs NBC and MSNBC. They are involved in health care. He is also pushing all of the solar panel and wind turbine crap since his company would be the biggest beneficiary from it, is now an advisor to the President.

This man is the biggest lobbyist of them all and he has the President's ear. I am pretty sure that the left will think that there is nothing wrong with this at all, but it really ticks me off.

Isn't Immelt the guy that BOR goes nuts over because of his dealings with Iran?

What makes it even worse is how the left cried BIG OIL! BIG OIL! or HALIBURTON! HALIBURTON every five minutes the last eight years but are blind to this.

Not stirring the pot here, but I'm asking honestly because I don't know. Was it disrespectful for the President to shake the hand of the Marine? Or is it because he caught the Marine off guard? Should he have waited to shake the Marine's hand once they were both on the helicopter? (Does that Marine actually go on the helicopter with him?)

Question 2 - WHY were these people who bombed the Cole - why were the charges dropped? What is the President's reasoning for this?

Yeah, you're right. I'm just tired of being labeled as "disrespectful" by libs (who have no right to say so) and thought I'd at least give them this one.

goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.
2008 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail
and never sees his truck or gun again. Counsellors called in
for traumatized students and teachers

Scenario:
Johnny and Mark get into a fistfight after school.

1958 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins.
Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.
2008 - Police called, SWAT team arrives, arrests Johnny and Mark.
Charge them with assault, both expelled even though Johnny started it.

Scenario:
Jeffrey won't be still in class, disrupts other students.

1958 - Jeffrey sent to office and given a good paddling by the Principal.
Returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.
2008 - Jeffrey given huge doses of Ritalin. Becomes a zombie.
Tested for ADD. School gets extra money from state
because Jeffrey has a disability.

Scenario:
Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car
and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt.

1958 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal,
goes to college, and becomes a successful businessman.
2008 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse.
Billy removed to foster care and joins a gang.
State psychologist tells Billy's sister that she remembers
being abused herself and their dad goes to prison.
Billy's mom has affair with psychologist.

Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.

1958 - Mark shares aspirin with Principal out on the smoking dock.
2008 - Police called, Mark expelled from school for drug violations.
Car searched for drugs and weapons.

Scenario:
Pedro fails high school English.

1958 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.
2008 - Pedro's cause is taken up by state.
Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that knowing
English as a requirement for graduation is racist.
ACLU files class action lawsuit against state school system
and Pedro's English teacher. English banned from core curriculum.
Pedro given diploma anyway but ends up
mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.

Scenario:
Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from 4th of July,
puts them in a model airplane paint bottle, blows up a red ant bed.

1958 - Ants die.
2008- BATF, Homeland Security, FBI called.
Johnny charged with domestic terrorism, FBI investigates parents,
siblings removed from home, computers confiscated,
Johnny's Dad goes on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

Scenario:
Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee.
He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.

2008 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job.
She faces 3 years in State Prison.

1. military personnel, while on duty especially, are not "buddies" with the president. he is their commander and the protocol requires a salute. the salute says, "i respect you as my commander", and the president's salute says, "thanks, i respect you too". a dude-ish handshake does not translate as respect to trained military personnel. the commander doesn't initiate the salute, with the exception a solder having earned the medal of honor. also, an injured soldier isn't required to return a salute. out of courtesy, the inferior rank salutes first.


2. i'm happy to stoop. i don't care. if there's a stupe in the white house, i'll stoop for ya'll. you're much nicer than i am.

i had a post session with a lib...she didn't like that some of us used his initials, bo, 'cause they thought it was insulting...'cause in, like, second grade, it meant body odor (shows their level of sophistication that body odor is the first thing they think of.) it was decided "bho" was better, even though at first using the "h" wasn't okay...now it is. that's how i refer to him...bho.
