Cons about CBR

I have read all the Pro opinions for CBR, does anyone have any CONS about it compared to POR?

I just stayed there in November and although I may be the minority, I did not like this resort at all. I found it way too spread out for my taste. I also did not care for having to walk across a dimly lit parking lot at night to get back to my building. For the first time ever, I had an uneasy feeling about my safety. Never have I felt that way at any Disney resort. I found check-in to be very slow and the bell desk sent me to the wrong place to wait for a ride (told me to go out front, when I should have gone out the side). Found people avoiding the long check-in line and going to the dining/guest services & holiday happenings area to check-in, which I found extremely annoying. I also did not care for the separate areas in the foodcourt. You pay at each one, instead of paying for everything together. Also, found the bus transportation slow and makes numerous stops before you even leave the resort to head to where you are going. The room was nice and clean, which was my one plus for this resort. There were too many cons for me to stay there again. If I had to choose a moderate, it would be Port Orleans French Quarter in a heartbeat!!!

Are you sure about this? This was not the case when we were there. You went to each food station and then through a central checkout. Very fast and convenient.

The check in/registration area (Custom House) is not in the same building as the foodcourt, store, etc... So if you need to go to the front desk for some reason or want to catch a taxi you will have a fairly long walk unless you are in Barbados. POR has the registration and food services in the same building.

The foodcourt has a central checkout. The only station you can pay at is the grab and go market. All the others are centralised.

Yes the buses do make numerous stops before leaving and we found it took about 2 minutes extra out fo our journey. That was extremely inconvenient - NOT!

Check in can be busy and the lines can be long. I don't know how this compares to other resorts. We were lucky as we had an evening arrival the the custom house was empty.

It can be quite a walk to get to the custom house but we were only there at check in, then once to pick up CP info. The internal bus was handy for this.

Some of the villages are more 'isolated' in terms of proximity to food court etc so maybe requesting a specific one would be an option.

Personally we LOVED the resort and like the spread out feel. We found it very relaxing and we liked the fact that it never felt crowded at all. I have to counter the bus comment also as we found it to be very speedy and efficient, and this was at Christmas.

I agree about the Custom House being away from the food court, very inconvenient when I wanted to check on my room charges during our stay. I didn't like walking thru a gift area when entering the food court building. If my kids were little it would have been horrible - I'd have to use different entrances. Our room never got cleaned until after 3:00pm and too many birds scrounging for food at the pool/bar area.

You asked for the cons so these are mine but we really did have a nice vacation. These certainly didn't ruin our vacation but just some of the reasons why I'm a bigger fan of POR.

I didn not like this resort as much as CSR, but Dh and I have agreed to try it again. It had like 7 bus stops, which was annoying and the pool slide was short to say the least, but I don't think I was there long enough to really appreciate the theming. The rooms are really nice with tons of storage space.

The food court used to have separate paying stations prior to the renovation a few years ago.
My family is split down the middle on the this resort. DD and I like it slightly better than POR and DS and DH like POR better.
Maybe we just lucked out but the bus service was great! AND you don't share with another resort asyou do with POR.
You will have a great time!

The hot tub stinks. It's waaaayyy too small and it doesn't have any jets. After a long day in the parks, we like to relax in the hot tub at night. We really missed doing that last year at CBR.

We must have been unlucky with our timing as we thought the bus transportation was awful during our stay(beginning of March last year, weekend trip). We stayed in Jamaica and while it was great to be the first bus stop, there were times when it felt like it took forever just to get out of the resort. We didn't care for the main pool being so close to the food court bldg-just too much "passerby" traffic. I know, of course, that this is out of Disney's control, but during our stay you couldn't find a chair on the beach that wasn't covered with bird droppings.

We have stayed at CBR a few times and this past trip I did not care for it. Quite frankly I didn't think the rooms were overly clean. They appeared very run down and I don't recall that on any of our previous visits. The jury is still out on how I feel about the new food court, but I can tell you that I do miss having a nice restaurant to have breakfast at like we did at POR (aka Dixie Landings). I never gave it much thought about walking across the parking lot at night, but that is true...maybe not so safe these days. However, don't you walk across the parking lot at POR? I don't remember! Check-in was a mad house, but I've experienced that at other resorts with early check-in. Biggest complaint here: food court and rooms. Have a great trip!

I agree with BuzzMe, we were in Jamaica and the transportation was lousy. We were there in late May/early June and it was not very crowded yet. Regardless, sometimes we spent as much as a half hour waiting for a bus, and it took a good 10 minutes to make the rounds of the other stops. As far as the rest of the resort, the foodcourt was OK, we never swam in the main pool because it was always crowded (very small pool to be main themed pool), and the room was OK. We had stayed at CSR in 2000, and really was impressed with everything about that resort - CBR just didn't compare. And as big as CSR is, it felt like CBR was alot more spread out! We moved over to AKL for our last three days, and it took us less time to get to the MK from AKL, than from CBR, which was a real surprise.
