I knew that was coming. But it still hurts. Every time I hear it. BOO!

What a HUGE bummer!! We didnt make it to Disneyland during the 60th and were crossing our fingers that it would be extended or incorporated somehow into their stale holiday parade. :sad1:

I am surprised! This was the only entertainment they added for the 60th that I liked. Totally bummed. Glad we saw it once.

I honestly thought that both Paint the Night and Disneyland: Forever would stick around past the end of the 60th Anniversary Celebration. They invested so much in adding the new technology to the park for the fireworks show and built a new parade floats, so it seemed like they would want to use them for a long as possible. Maybe they had planned to run them past the end of the 60th, but budgetary cuts did curtail those plans. I still think there is a good chance that one or both will return to the parks at some point (perhaps next summer).

I'm shocked. Rumor mill thinks it is going to WDW. I agree with parkhopper 1. I think the only way they are ending this particular parade at DL is if they are shipping it somewhere else. They made too big of an investment into that parade. It is the best parade Disney has ever done and one of the only ones that DH and DD will watch multiple times without complaining. Of course, in Disney's current cost cutting mode if it is horribly expensive to run every night...

So glad I trusted my intuition and booked my trip for the end of August! I was considering the week after Labor Day, since it's supposed to be significantly lower crowds, but something told me to book before the 6th. I'll be there for 3 days and will be sure to see it all!!

Andrew – “Disneyland Forever,” “Paint the Night” and “World of Color – Celebrate!” were each created for the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, which concludes September 5. Any future plans for these shows have not been determined.

Deneice – “Paint the Night” was created for the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration and is scheduled to conclude its run with the close of the celebration on September 5.

Amanda – “Disneyland Forever” is a terrific show, but it was created specifically for the Diamond Celebration. When the celebration concludes on September 5, the show will end, but we may bring the technology to other shows in the future.

Well now I'm kicking myself that we didn't toughen it out and stay for the parade and fireworks during the 24 hour party. It was just so crowded that seeing the parade would have been difficult anyway. Bummed we didn't get to see this. Our APs didn't expire until a few weeks after the shows debuted, but we had already planned our trip for that week in May and didn't think it would be necessary to reschedule. We assumed the shows would stick around as past shows have. It sounds like the parade could still return for summer as rumored though since it says plans have not been determined. I can hope.

It hurts more every time I see this news. Isn't there still the chance it will come back seasonally though? Maybe?

Why do I feel like the next new parade we get is going to be Star Wars themed? Or Marvel? And that one will somehow stick around for the next 10+ years.

My thoughts in random order:
  1. This is SO DISAPPOINTING!
  2. That parade is the BEST PARADE EVER since the original Main Street Electrical Light Parade.
  3. Disney probably spent millions developing it.
  4. And... technically, officially, sure...it was created ONLY for the 60th anniversary.
  5. BUT....the 60th anniversary year ended almost 3 weeks ago.
  6. AND...Disney isn't going to just throw away a huge hit like that. They'll recycle it in another park.
  7. I bet it's going to WDW. Or to Shanghai Disneyland. But my bet is on WDW.
  8. AND....it'll be such a huge hit there that WDW will create some brand new premium dining packages that cost some insane amount like $100-150/person for preferred seating along the parade route.
  9. AND...everybody who doesn't have that or a FP+ for it will have someone in their group camp out from the time of rope drop in order to see it. Kind of like people do for the Candlelight Processional at Christmas time. Only this camping out will go on for months.

Just wanted to add that the Disney announcement isn't entirely correct in saying that Paint the Night was created especially for the 60th. It's Hong Kong Disneyland's night time parade that Anaheim cloned that runs nightly in Hong Kong.

Well, Hong Kong has gotten to keep its PTN so I think there's some hope DL gets to keep its PTN. I remember the rumors that HK was going to have to ship it's PTN off to DL for the 60th and then it turned out Disney built us a whole new parade... I think us DL lovers were seriously scarred when the electrical parade got shipped off to FL and now we see parades being shipped everywhere  . Admittedly I do see some wisdom in the idea of shipping the parade off to FL. Disney earnings are next week (so we should get an update on park attendance) and if the FL park is still seeing lagging visitor numbers, might PTN be more monetarily advantageous to the company to run in FL than in CA? Fingers crossed they're just taking it down temporarily and will bring it back next summer though!

:offtopic: You're ticker sounds like a dream of a trip! Have an amazing time!!

This right here. It's about the money. It's the same reason they don't do F! every night of the week. That show has no loud fireworks with the new air launchers. But it has lots of cast. So cut away. Same with PtN. Too many employees so cut back on costs. I often get excited about having an AP and doing Disney all year, but then I read stuff like this and get really frustrated. I hope it comes back after Halloween. And if there's a Christmas parade, maybe after Christmas so we can all see it again next year.

Silly me, for thinking I was actually going to get to see all of these wonderful nighttime spectaculars on my first trip to Disneyland next month. You know, the ones that keep showing up in the advertising?

Disappointed is an understatement.
