Good morning everyone,

We are planning a trip to Dysneyland this summer with my 2 older daughters who need there own space.
This will be our first time at Dysneyland, we usually go to Dysneyworld since it is easier to go to from Montreal, Canada.
My question to you is ; have you rented a condo that is close to walk to Dysneyland? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thank you

Someone will probably be along with the complete info, but there have been some changes in the rules regarding short-term rentals in Anaheim. I believe that there will be a total ban beginning in 2018, but that things are 'in flux' for 2017 with some OK and some not. So just be diligent when you rent your condo to be sure the owner or rental company is aware of the changes and that they are sure their condos are still 'ok' for 2017.

I do know there has been a big 'dump' of condos for sale in the DLR area on real estate websites.

The up side, many Limited Service Hotels that have large spaces, multiple room, and kitchens/kitchenettes have been built in the area.

Some of the newer ones to look at, Country Inn and Suites, Hyatt House, Springhill Suites and Residence Inn's. Many of these options have multiple locations in the area, and sometimes different styles. For example, the new Residence Inn near the corner of Harbor and Katella is a new tower style property, while the older Residence Inn on Clementine is a group of 2 story condo like buildings.

So when you do your searching, make sure which location it is, many are within walking distance, but some are not, such as one of the new Springhill Suites. (on Ball).

Also, you can check Time Share properties, such as WorldMark and Dolphin Cove.

Thank you for the great advise. We were looking into the Hyatt convention center.
We want to go for 10 days but plan on doing Dysneyland for 4 days. We also want to see Universal studios. Anything else that would be worth wild to see.

I saw that Airbnb is suing the city of Anaheim over this. Honestly, a total ban just seems to reek of hotels being in bed with the city.

AirBNB has dropped its lawsuit.

The issue is, people running a full time business without someone on property in a "Residental" Zoned area.

The city will allow it in Commercial and Mixed Use area, so long as they follow the required safety codes, including egress, sprinkler systems and ADA compliance.

Do you want to live next to 7-11 or maybe a bank next to your house? How about a Pizza Delivery Company....

Sorry, but I live across the street from an STR, which creates lots of parking and noise issues, and ruins the community feel of my block.

The city is working on standards for someone who wants to rent out part of the house, requiring the owner to be on property, and limited to about half the year.

One big issue, many folks that wanted long term housing (aka a rental home to live in year round) have been forced out of the market by the STR's.

I can tell you one thing that the city didn't like, and that was the avoidance of Tax revenue, especially the TOT taxes. Many "VRBO"'s never did the required paper work with the city, and basically operated tax free, and not just the TOT tax, and is something every Hotel/Motel does, so yes, the city prefers Hotels/Motels, as they meet rules such as required parking spaces, a manager on duty and planned for traffic issues with the business.
