Community Coffee?

The brand they serve is LAVAZZA and it is an Italian brand. Once we got home, I googled it and found it! I ordered (3) 2.2 bags of beans for around $60 including shipping. We got three different varieties, as we are still trying to figure out the blend. (We forgot to ask what blend!!) As far as we can tell, they serve Lavazza, Espresso, Gold Selection. I thought it tasted like it had a hint of chocolate in it. I hope all of you cruising soon will give it a shot! If you do, please find out what the blend is and post on the Dis boards!!

We normally drink a German coffee called Kronig that we can get from the local commissaries. We were happy to find another really good coffee to enjoy!

Let me know what you think when you get back!! Enjoy!

Lavazza brand is sold in the grocery stores here in suburban Philadelphia. You might check your local groceries and specialty food stores for a ready supply! Thanks for the detective work on the kind of coffee you had!:yay:

Just a little update for those following the "coffee ordeal". I got the new press in yesterday and just had to try it, and well it is perfect! It makes 2 of my cups that I drink which is what im used to, and I actually threw out my old plug in type pot.... Im loving the hole "grind your own fresh beans thing" it really makes for a smooth pot of Joe!! So thanks to the french press my cruise mornings should be real smooth!

I'm a coffee snob too! I have never tried the Starbucks VIA packets so I would be very interested to hear from fellow DISers about their impressions of these. I assume all you need is hot water and a VIA packet?

If people give these a thumbs up, I'll be hitting our local target this weekend to stock up before we leave next week.

It's very good (probably the best out there) instant coffee. However, still instant coffee. Is it better than brewing a fresh pot of coffee, no. Is it better than Nescafe, YES!

Taking it to the parks sounds brilliant. Free cup of hot water vs expensive Nescafe. Even with Starbucks opening in the park, I'm scared of Starbucks pricing with a Disney mark up.

Thanks for the info. I will keep a lookout for it!! We have really enjoyed it since we've been home.

They are putting Starbucks in California Adventure so maybe this is a start of a trend. Hopefully in a few years the Nescrap will be gone for good. Not sure why Disney can't spend a few more dollars and improve the coffee and food on board the cruises. They are working on it at Disneyland so maybe it will spread to the cruises as well.

We sailed on the Fantasy on 4/7. I love, love my coffee, just like everyone else! I ordered room service every morning and I thought it was very good.

Every night, after dinner, we ordered coffee in whatever dining room we were in. Our BFF and his family traveled with us. He is not a coffee drinker but we got him hooked. My DD's (18) and (15) got hooked as well. On Castaway Cay day, we were having breakfast in the Royal Court restaurant and we asked our server what coffee they served. He actually brought out the bag and I took a picture of it. (We realized that he brought us the decaf, so we weren't tempted to keep it!) The brand they serve is LAVAZZA and it is an Italian brand. Sounds yummy. That is what we thought we had been drinking all along (or similar) while on the Dream last month. When we asked our waiter to tell us the name of the delicious coffee we had the entire time (and we are HUGE coffee drinkers..we lived in Seattle for years so are big starbucks fans) and we couldn't believe our ears when he came back and said that it was not some imported European blend..but it was NESCAFE Columbian. LOL!! :rotfl2: Oh well, we really liked it! In fact, we spent the following week at Disney and ate at a lot of the character breakfasts and /dined at the resorts and the coffee sucked in comparison. So weak and bland!! We were missing our Cruise coff:goodvibeseee! LOL
