Ok how is the coffee situation on the ship? I MUST have my coffee in the morning.. And down in the south its Community brand.. Should I bring my own pot and coffee?? Im not a late sleeper, so I like to wake and enjoy my mornings, I cant think of a better way than a good cup of coffee while looking out to the ocean, while the wife sleeps lol (she is not a morning person at all)!:surfweb:
Forgot, we are on the Magic if that makes a difference

You can easily order room service when you wake and they'll deliver coffee. If you have to have it right as you roll out of bed, you can order a carafe the night before and it should still be warm in the morning.

I doubt they will allow a coffee pot in your room, they don't even allow irons. If Community Brand is a must you may be able to bring it online and have room service brew it for you.

You will not be allowed to use your coffee pot onboard. You can call room service in the morning for coffee. Some people have ordered coffee the night before in a carafe, and it's still hot the next morning. There's also a room service breakfast card you can leave out the night before for coffee delivery in the morning. Or, if you're up, you can run up to the drink station and get coffee.

As to brewing your own, I don't think so.

I need good coffee in the morning, so I packed a press pot and my coffee. In the AM one of us ran up to the drink station and filled up our refillable Disney mugs with hot water and used it in the press pot. You can also have room service bring a carafe of hot water, but I found it hotter at the drink station.

Personally, I found the coffee on the Dream to be terrible. They serve Nescafe at Cabanas, which is where we ate breakfast every morning. My understanding is that Nescafe is what is served in all of the MDRs as well. I found the espresso bar at Cabanas our second morning on the ship and went there the remaining mornings. I had to pay (around $3-4), but it was worth it to me for a really good cappucino!

I will be bringing on individual flavored creamers to doctor up my coffee.

The French Press pot is a GREAT idea, and an excellent way to brew your own coffee without using an appliance in your stateroom!! I am definitely doing that the next time we sail. MUCH more cost effective than paying a bundle for good coffee in the Cafe!

I also bring my own flavored creamers when I travel, so I can have exactly what I want. I purchase pre-packaged powdered creamers sometimes, sometimes just bring a small container (double bagged of course - that powder can get into everything!).

Excellent suggestions for coffee lovers!

Ok guys educate me on the coffee press.. I get the press, some coffee filters, coffee of choice, and hot water from the ship?? Or am I not understanding..

No need for filters with a press! They even sell hard plastic presses which would be great for travel. You add coffee to the bottom of the press container, fill with water, let the coffee steep and then press the built-in, mesh "filter" to clear the grounds from the water. Very good, strong coffee!

They also have a great travel French Press at World Market, if you have one of those near you. Love my French Press - plus, I don't have to pay extra at the coffee bar!

I have a Bodum French Press and it works great. Just follow these instructions and your coffee turns out great. Much better than that Nescafe crap. Why do they insist on serving such poor coffee on Disney?

1. Use water that is slightly cooler than boiling.
2. Grind your own coffee beans.
3. Use a coarse grind.
4. Use 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 1 cup of water.
5. Pour, stir, cover.
6. Steep for 4 minutes.
7. Press down on the plunger evenly and slowly.

We are leaving on the Fantasy this Saturday and I swear my husband says "I hope the coffee on Disney got better" every other day. I keep reminding him that the coffee has been TERRIBLE on every cruise line we've been on.

He's got every coffee brewing gadget in the known world but for some reason doesn't want to take his French Press. I think he's going to discover it in his suitcase after we check in. I hate bad coffee. :(

I have a feeling im gonna miss my coffee alot when we are gone...:(

Maybe we will run into each other at Cove Cafe. ;) Our oldest DD and I love our coffee (good coffee) in the morning too.

Another option is the individual Starbucks Via packets. All you need is hot water. I also take them into the parks.

I bring the VIA packets from Starbucks to the park as well and plan on getting them for the ship as well. At WDW I get a lot of jealous stares when I'm making my coffee :)
