It had great reviews, and I choose 2 day shipping so I can try it out and perfect it before the cruise!! Thanks every one for the advice and if you want some fresh coffee come on down to 7621!!! Now ill just have to get some of you Disney Pro's to tell me where to get some really hot water

Self serve drink station has a hot water dispenser.
You can also order hot water from room service or just order hot tea and not use the tea bags. That water may not be hot enough to your liking so you might want to tell them you want really hot water.

I'm a bit of a coffee snob myself (never tried this brand even though they sell it near me). So much so that I even bring my own to work instead of drinking the free stuff.
I travel with a one cup single brew contraption made by Melitta. It's basically a little plastic cone you use a number 2 filter in, put your grounds in it, put the cone over your cup (it has a round base to fit over a cup) and then pour the coffee in the filter and it brews. 2 min later, COFFEE!!

I believe Publix sells them but you can order them on line from Melitta.com
They aren't expesive either. They are called the Ready Set Joe Cone and are about $5.
Here is the link to their site to order.

The coffee on the Dream was terrible. I found the coffee in the dining rooms to be a little better than Cabanas or the drink stations. But overall, I missed my coffee A LOT. Looking into the french press myself for our next cruise.

I bought some Starbucks via to bring aboard. Haven't tried it yet, but surely it's better than Nescafé!

A little update for you guys, the press is gonna be here tomorrow so I have all weekend to perfect it.. I stopped and purchased a small coffee grinder and some "community morning blend" coffee beans. But for the cruise I will try to use regular ground coffee in the press (just to keep it simple) I really hope it works the way I am wanting it to.
Again thanks for all the input!!!!:thumbsup2

I like mine best with the fresh ground coffee beans, but the press works with any ground coffee, the better the bean the better the coffee! Enjoy your new toy!!

I'm a coffee snob too! I have never tried the Starbucks VIA packets so I would be very interested to hear from fellow DISers about their impressions of these. I assume all you need is hot water and a VIA packet?

If people give these a thumbs up, I'll be hitting our local target this weekend to stock up before we leave next week.

Thanks,
E :surfweb:

Yes. I like them a lot, they do not taste like instant coffee to me. It's a super fine powder that instantly dissolves in hot water. I drink my coffee black, but I believe they also have ones that are flavored and pre-sweetened.

I have brought them to the parks with me, as well -- anywhere that has hot beverages will give you a cup of hot water for free.

The only down side is that they are kinda pricey. I usually get them at Costco.

Great just remember the two most important tricks. Coarse grind and really hot water.

I have a press and love it. DH got it for me after I fell in love with Kona Coffee. He ordered a couple pounds of it directly from Hawaii for a Christmas gift a few years ago - and also a press pot. Sooooo good!

Hmm... digging through my paperwork.. Hanna's.... Hanna's... coffee with the Hanna's.. stateroom......

;)

Our youngest DD is the same way. She will drink it VERY occasionally if she hasn't slept well the night before and has a busy dance or class schedule that day. However I think she has more of a cup of fancy creamer with coffee than a cup of coffee with creamer.

She does love the way it smells though.

i've tryed the starbucks VIA packets they aren't too bad. they are a bit week but they better than the coffe on borad. I heard starting june starbucks will be selling thier coffee in the parks now if they would sell it on the ships

I just bring those Starbucks Via things with me and go up and get hot water in the mornings. It's not as good as what I brew at home, but it's better than what's on the ship.

I just had to giggle a bit about this thread.. it reminded me of the coffee we had (and liked) a few weeks ago on our first cruise (Dream). We are normally Starbucks people, and drink coffee daily. We were surprised to find out that we REALLY liked the coffee on board. On the final night when we had a cup with dessert, we had to ask our server to find out what brand it was. I was thinking some exotic roast/bean.. NOPE, it was NESCAFE'!!!?? Columbian style. I was shocked and kind of laughing on the inside. Yes I know we must be the only ones!!! LOL

Yeah, you must be the only ones! :lmao: My wife and I noticed right away on our last cruise on the Magic that the coffee was less than good. :rolleyes1

Seriously, we were surprised that for all the quality food, service, and overall Disney experience, the coffee was definitely lacking.

Starbucks or Caribou coffee onboard would be fantastic! One can hope... :)

We sailed on the Fantasy on 4/7. I love, love my coffee, just like everyone else! I ordered room service every morning and I thought it was very good.

Every night, after dinner, we ordered coffee in whatever dining room we were in. Our BFF and his family traveled with us. He is not a coffee drinker but we got him hooked. My DD's (18) and (15) got hooked as well. On Castaway Cay day, we were having breakfast in the Royal Court restaurant and we asked our server what coffee they served. He actually brought out the bag and I took a picture of it. (We realized that he brought us the decaf, so we weren't tempted to keep it!) The brand they serve is LAVAZZA and it is an Italian brand. Once we got home, I googled it and found it! I ordered (3) 2.2 bags of beans for around $60 including shipping. We got three different varieties, as we are still trying to figure out the blend. (We forgot to ask what blend!!) As far as we can tell, they serve Lavazza, Espresso, Gold Selection. I thought it tasted like it had a hint of chocolate in it. I hope all of you cruising soon will give it a shot! If you do, please find out what the blend is and post on the Dis boards!!

We normally drink a German coffee called Kronig that we can get from the local commissaries. We were happy to find another really good coffee to enjoy!

Let me know what you think when you get back!! Enjoy!
