Next in today was another update from DonaldDoleWhip. This one picks up after his dinner on Thursday at 'Ohana.

"A few hours after 'Ohana, we decided to try out the lounge in the Yacht Club for drinks."

"I love the interior details."

"We were all in the mood for something salty, so we decided to share the truffle fries. They really hit the spot."

"The next day [Friday], we participated in the lunch test for Be Our Guest. Lines were across the bridge, so I'm glad we were able to bypass that!"

"The tuna niçoise salad is my favorite lunch in MK."

"For dinner, we walked over to the Dolphin."

"I was excited to return here:"

Dinner menu

"A look at the restaurant..."

"I chose the dancing fish (which happened to be snapper). There it is!"

"Our server, Brandon, filleted it at the table."

"I loved this dish. The vegetables and truffled potatoes were absolutely delicious with the fish."

"For dessert, we walked over to the Boardwalk."

"We got the salted caramel ganache tart and split it once we got back to the room. It had an unexpected (almost citrusy) flavor - not sure if we'd get it again."

@DonaldDoleWhip

I love snapper and I even would say I have a strong stomach, but the head has to go before it is on the plate before my eyes. :rotfl2:

I agree about the salted caramel tart- it definitely had an orange taste to it. My sistr and I split it, and we still didn't finish it- not worth the calories!

Next we have Anne's (scanne) update from her "Lunch with an Imagineer" today at the...

"Our personalized menu..."

"I had the soup as listed on the menu but DH is lactose intolerant so he had chicken noodle soup."

Brentwood Sweet Corn Bisque with a Crab and Corn Beignet

Chicken Noodle Soup

"The corn chowder was delicious and the corn fritters were crispy and slightly sweet. Yum! Chicken noodle was fine."

"We both had the Cobb salad - DH had them hold the egg, cheese and chives and I asked them to hold the egg, tomato and avocado."

"I still wasn't crazy about the salad. I found it a bit salty...DH thought was ok."

"For our main courses, I chose the filet and DH had the cioponno."

Charred-glazed Filet of Beef with a Red Wine Reduction, topped with a Cabernet and Roasted Shallot Butter, over White Truffle Oil Wild Forest Mushroom Mashed Potato, and Sautéed Haricot Verts

"My dish was flavorful and the filet was overcooked slightly (I ordered it medium well and it came out well done) but it was still tender. The potatoes were good and green beans crispy."

Seafood Cioppino - Sautéed White Shrimp, Prince Edward Island Mussels, and a Pan-seared Fennel-dusted Black Grouper over Orzo Pasta with a Cioppino Broth

"DH said his dish was good. He enjoyed it but wasn't raving."

"For dessert, I chose the crème brulee..."

"Awesome but I could only eat 1/2."

"DH had the chocolate cake that isn't on this menu but is on the regular menu. There was no trouble subbing or omitting anything."

"The chocolate cake was amazing!!!"

"The meal lasted 3 hours so be prepared to take a very leisurely pace. Our imaginer was excellent. Knowledgeable, friendly, down to earth. My DH asked the most questions, as he would love to work in animation and has had that dream for as long as I've known him. My Disney dream job is directing shows and parades. So we talked about ways to get into the company as well. Someday we will move down here and make magic for others!"

"We each got these name tags, a commemorative plate that our imaginer signed and our menus and a group photograph at the table. Excellent experience. It was $63.99 per adult and they included gratuity which was $18.00 give or take some change."

"And a picture with our imagineer..."

That is so cool! Did he stay the entire time? How many were in your group? This would be the coolest gift for my family (they are adults). Wow, just wow.

Now we have some updates from Brenda (emmysmommy), starting with her dinner last night with DonaldDoleWhip and his mom at the Yacht Club's...

Captain's Grille

Brenda said, "It seems to always have availability for walk-ups. Sorry no menu or sign photos since I was far too excited and chatty!" ;)

"Sorry no bread photo either although I wouldn't be able to comment on that since no one touched it."

"I ordered the market salad with apples, bleu cheese, and mixed greens."

Farmers' Market Salad with Walnut Granola, Granny Smith Apples, Dried Cranberries, Mascarpone-Blue Cheese Cream, and Champagne Vinaigrette

"It was fresh and delicious with a light vinaigrette dressing."

"For my entrée, I had another appetizer, the potato gnocchi with julienned pears."

House-made Potato-Cheese Gnocchi with Toasted Walnuts, Julienne Pears, and Truffle Butter

"I must not be a gnocchi person but I liked the pears."

"Em's pan-seared chicken was served with pureed carrots..."

Pan-seared Chicken with Roasted Carrot Puree, Green Onion, Glazed Radish, Artichokes, and Lemon-Thyme Butter

"She liked it."

"After dinner we were booked for the Illuminations cruise with Vicki (GoofySon'sMom) & Andrew but due to weather it was cancelled. Our plan B was to enjoy drinks in the Ale & Compass Lounge."

5 August Game Points Earned + 10 Bonus Points (5 pts. per person) for DISmeet photo

Great updates everyone!
DS14 (who reads the thread along with me) have both vowed that we will make it to V & A's someday!::yes::

I laughed out loud at the Mickey shaped storm and the crazy, dancing fish! :rotfl2:

But no bread pudding at 'Ohana?:sad2: I almost fainted! I thought that was the main reason to go. LOL

Next is a two-part breakfast update from Brenda, with Part I being of the Breakfast Offerings this morning at AKL's CL Lounge...

Kilimanjaro Club

Cereals

Oatmeal & Pap

Fruit

Danish and muffins

Condiments

Bagels and Croissants

"I only had some nectarine slices so I can't say that I really partook of all they had to offer because..."

"We were eating a late breakfast at..."

to be continued in next post

5 August Game Points Earned

Then we have an update from Vicki (GoofySon'sMom).

"Andrew had the fettuccine and I tried something different - the tonnarelli."[/COLOR]

Fettuccine Vecchia Roma with Prosciutto and Parmesan cream
& Tonnarelli - Handmade egg pasta, zucchini, mint, and Burrata

And now I'm going to have to stalk Vicki's thread until she posts more details about this meal. I've been wanting to order the tonnarelli but wondered just how much mint flavor it had. It never occurred to me that the entire plate would be green!

Part II of Brenda's breakfast update is from Animal Kingdom's...

She said, "There are dozens of food choices but my favorites are at the kid station!"

"Buffet plaza!"

"I took a lot of photos with my camera but then a wave of people came through and I needed to yield to the hungry so I got out of their way." ;)

"Here's my choices:"

To start...Mickey waffles!!! Not one, not two but THREE! Yeah I couldn't help myself. Also scrambled eggs on another plate, plate three was fresh fruit, and plate four was a carb delight with a Krispy Kreme donut, bread pudding with vanilla sauce (I didn't eat more than a small bite since I didn't like it) and some mediocre fruit cobbler."

"The characters were great. We had a DISmeet when we first got there with KatMark! I have that photo from her on Facebook so I will share later, as well as the photos of Mickey, Daisy, and Goofy."

3 August Game Points Earned + 2 Bonus Points for sign and misc. pic

Next we have a couple more lunch updates, starting with one from Vicki (GoofySon'sMom). She and Andrew were at Epcot today and snacked around World Showcase for their lunch, starting in France at...

Boulangerie Patisserie

Ham & Cheese Croissant

Next stop was Morocco's...

Tangierine Cafe

Kefta Sandwich - Seasoned Ground Beef, Grilled and served with fresh Salsa and Fries

And an inside look...

"This wasn't great. Not a lot of flavor." :sad2:

Then on to Japan's...

Katsura Grill

Beef Teriyaki with steamed vegetables and rice

"Andrew had most of this and liked it."

Then next was Germany's...

Somerfest

Bratwurst

And last stop was at Norway's...

Kringla Bakeri Og Cafe

Roast beef sandwich and School Bread

DonaldDoleWhip also lunched around Epcot on Saturday.

He said, "Saturday was an Epcot day, which meant having lunch at Morocco's..."

Menu

"I love the vegetarian platter here!"

Falafel, Tangierine Couscous Salad, Hummus, Tabouleh, Lentil Salad and Marinated Olives

"After walking and shopping around World Showcase, I stopped for a snack in Japan."

Menu

"The temari sushi is a perfect snack size."

Temari Sushi - Curved "Bite Size" Nigiri topped with Tuna, Salmon, and Shrimp

"While in Japan, we stopped and admired the koi pond."

"We also stopped for a midday break at Italy's..."

Menu

"Food on display."

"I ordered an individual caprese salad (not on menu) - it was $9."

"Then we headed to a popular spot in Mexico."

"My choice was the pineapple margarita - it was refreshing, and I loved the chili salt rim."

"We also hit some rides in Future World and stopped at Club Cool. My old favorite was Japan's drink, but this time it tasted diluted to me."

"Instead, my favorite was..."

"Aside from the bitterness (which I didn't really mind), it tasted like bubblegum to me!"

"Before leaving World Showcase, I stopped at Les Halles to grab some food for my mom."

Menu

"I got her a tuna niçoise salad (not pictured) and a chocolate mousse."

"But while I was there, I couldn't resist trying some items that have been tempting me for a while. The pissaladière was basically pizza on thick bread - it was filling and tasty."

"The raspberry macaron with lime cream filling was better than most of the macarons in the collection, IMO. The cookie had a lighter texture, and I enjoyed the zesty cream with the tart berries."

And while we are at Epcot, let's take a look at Becky's (BlovesC) snack update from France's...

She said, "Our next stop on the ice cream train, our first trip to Artisans!"

"Looks like they changed the coco to coconut to stop confusing people!" ;)

"Oooh"

"Charlie chose the coconut..."

"He liked it, I did too."

"My coffee on the other hand was cold and creamy and flavorless."

"It looked like coffee but tasted like nothing. I won't be stopping here again anytime soon. Oh France, someday you'll win me over with something, someday!"

One more lunch update to post, this one from a new reporter who arrived today, Gin0818.

She said, "We made it and checked into the Yacht Club this morning. After dropping our bags off we headed out to the Magic Kingdom, where we had lunch at..."

"I know it doesn't get great reviews but we were starving and it was right there, so Jill had a kids Mac n' cheese served with grapes and strawberry yogurt."

"No complaints for her."

"I had the Italian flatbread sandwich with a Diet Coke..."

"It was Italian meats, mozzarella, lettuce, some kind of olive mixture and banana peppers with a balsamic glaze. I took the peppers off the sandwich but it was a decent meal and very filling."

New Disney goals all thanks to this thread:
1. Have lunch with an Imagineer someday.
2. Eat a meal by 'snacking' around the World Showcase this trip.
3. Eat at bluezoo someday. (Oh my gosh, those pictures of the dining room, DDW!! Gorgeous!)
4. Share a snack or ride with a fellow DISer. It just looks like fun!
5. Trick DSis into trying Beverly (She's already agreed to stop at Club Cool!! *devious*)

So sorry your cruise got rained out, but that Mickey-shaped storm does have me laughing! I wonder if the Kingdom Keeper writer knows about that? He could work last night's lightening bolt and the storm shape into the next book. (Not that I've read any.)

DonaldDoleWhip, a question. Was the caprese salad from the Wine Cellar, and were you able to walk in without a reservation? Please say no, because if so my mom could have achieved her dream of having a bite from the Italy Pavilion in February. I thought the food was all table service.

It's once again time to call it night, but check back tomorrow for dinner updates from Garden Grill, La Hacienda, Sassagoula Floatworks, Grand Floridian Café, Yachtsman Steakhouse, and Prime Time Café. Points awarded to members of our audience who can match up these dinner locations with the correct live reporter. ;)

Good night! :wave2:

DDW hope your mom gets to feeling better! I'm not sure how I feel about the GF villas, but from your pictures I do think it just sticks out, would have been nice if it blended in a bit more. I'm also not sure how I feel about the possible Poly DVC. Poly is my family and I's FAVORITE resort to stay at, with Tahiti being our favorite longhouse. Its a little farther from the great ceremonial house but we LOVE being able to walk to the TTC to get the monorails.
Thanks for the well wishes. The first few days were definitely rough for her, but fortunately things got better. As for the GF Villas, I'm sure they'll be nice to stay in, but I don't think I'll ever enjoy looking at the building.

@DonaldDoleWhip

I love snapper and I even would say I have a strong stomach, but the head has to go before it is on the plate before my eyes. :rotfl2:
A lot of people have made similar comments. I feel like the head should bother me, but it doesn't. :rotfl:

I agree about the salted caramel tart- it definitely had an orange taste to it. My sistr and I split it, and we still didn't finish it- not worth the calories!
How strange - you'd think they'd mention the orange in the description since it seems to be a prominent flavor. :confused3

Great updates everyone!

Nope, no bread pudding for us. ;) Years ago, pineapple with caramel sauce was actually the regular dessert at 'Ohana. I've always preferred the old dessert - it might be a nostalgia thing.

Yep, that was from the wine cellar, and no, you don't need a reservation to eat there. :worried: But don't feel bad, because the location is still new and isn't well-known.

I was afraid you would say that. :guilty: It only makes me feel bad because mom was diagnosed as a diabetic after we got home and now cringes at the thought of eating pasta. (We know she can have things in moderation but she's scared.) She's half-Italian and felt it was the closest she would ever get to the real Italy. Maybe with some good, low-carb pictures from here I can convince her she'll still be able to have something at the Wine Cellar one day!

Good morning everyone! :wave2:

Hmm...no guesses on the dinner updates yet? :sad2:

Let me simplify the game just a bit. We have six dinner updates in the queue to be posted. They are from the following locations:

Garden Grill
Grand Floridian Café
La Hacienda de San Angel
Prime Time Café
Sassagoula Floatworks
Yachtsman Steakhouse

Here are the six live reporters who submitted these updates:

Becky (BlovesC)
DonaldDoleWhip
Gin0818
Ginamarie
Vicki (GoofySon'sMom)
Anne (scanne)

Now for bonus points, test your matching skills and try to identify where each of our reporters dined. ;)
