Color Questions

Hi Everyone! I'm having issues with my colors. I really want bright purple (like violet, b/c Plum is too dark and Lavendar/Lilac is too light) and Bright Pink with maybe a champagne or silver accent. Do you think that will look terrible or too bright? Does anyone have any pics of a pink and purple wedding? Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm really nervous but these are my favorite colors and DF said I could use them! I just don't know what to do. any suggestions and/or pics would greatly be appreciated! TIA!

I definitely think you could do violet and hot pink together but I would soften it up with a creme color or champagne color. Actually I wouldn't even go as dark as a champagne I would stick with a creme or ivory/off white color to mix in. If your girls wore violet dresses a bouquet of ivory and pink flowers would be beautiful. I think white mixed in wouldn't work becuase white would still be a shocking color. The ivory color would soften the look but I say go for the violet and hot pink.

I know this sounds weird but with those colors blue and red go really nice. Laura Kidd showed me those color combos and they looked amazing. Depending on which way you want to send it, soften or darken, you could use silver or gold. I know I am not any help! It may help to know if you want to use a lighter gold or a darker gold. I think if you go with the blue and red I would wrap with a purple ribblen with silver accents. If you go more to lighten it up I would wrap in purple with a gold accent.

I agree with Toni. If you decide you want both violet and hot pink go with something like ivory to soften everything. But I think those colors would go nicely together. You just have to becareful because you don't want it looking too Lisa Frank!

Toni ~ thanks for the ivory suggestion. I knew I needed to lighten it up and tone down the brightness I just didn't know how! I think cream or ivory will work well!

Jonette ~ i never thought of blue and red but it does make sense seeing as pink is technically a tint of red and blue is adjacent to purple on the color wheel... thanks for the idea!

IndyBride ~ Thanks for the input! I was definitely afraid of the Lisa Frank look which is why I posted. I was worried it would look terrible!

MyMelody ~ We are doing a spring wedding (hopefully April 19, 2010) I've always wanted a spring wedding with bright colors! It's just now that i'm actually planning I got nervous it would look terrible.

At one point I was going to do the same color scheme because pink nd purple are my favorite colors...it will totally work!!!!!!!!!!

We did bright pink and silver.... I really loved the color combo and it didn't look tooo bright! We thought the silver toned it down and added a touch of classiness.
