How much water do you add? I just can't get it right. We do bring our own with filters, but people seem to like this new brand, and I do not the way I make it, 4-5 cups of water as measured by the pot. I tried using more water, but that just tasted weak to me.:confused3

OMG! It took me forever to get this "right" by my standards. There's no instructions on the packet as far as I know. Lol

I use 1-16.9 oz bottle of water per 1 packet. It's about 4ish cups measured on the pot. Maybe a little less. I like my coffee on the strong side. This, to me, is a good ratio. I only get three actual drinkable cups from the pot with this using their coffee mugs.

Thank you for this tip! I've never been able to get this right, either. I always end up using too much water and getting weak coffee. Yuck!

I wonder if you can bring your own coffee and just use regular filters?

I would love some tips on how to get good coffee in WDW. This will be my first year at a DVC villa so I am wondering how the coffee pot works. Is it just pods?? Or like the PP asked, can we just use reg coffee & filters?? Being from the Northwest, coffee is a necessity for any morning functioning!! I need to know what I should bring with me (pods, filters, bottled water, etc..) to get a good cup of coffee to sip in the morning on my balcony. :goodvibes

:coffee: I filter the water in my Brita pitcher first and that helps too. I use about five cups of water on the pot per small packet of coffee, just above 8 if I have the 1/2 cup size packet of coffee. We also stock basket filters, and Dunkin' Donuts coffee in our Owner's Locker. I also have a Mickey coffee measure in there too.

Yes, we do that as well. The pods make 4 weak cups. They used to give us ground coffee packets - that made 6 cups. We bring our own coffee and filters as they don't give you enough for the stay.

What type of filters?

The coffee pots at the DVC resorts use the Mr. Coffee Style basket filters. I bought one of the gold mesh ones to keep in our Owner's locker and we usually bring a 1/2 pound of ground coffee. We rarely use the coffee that is provided. I do have some of Folger's pods in our OL as well for something quick.

Yeah, after tearing my hair out trying to make drinkable coffee from Disney's pre-packed, I just gave up and put a coffee grinder in my Owner's Locker, and I bring my own beans down with me. LOVE it now!:thumbsup2

Did you know they charge for extra pods? I was surprised.

I'll try just a little over 16 oz next time. I couldn't figure out the water to pod ratio either.

Thanks for this thread, Bobbi!
We found that bottled or filtered water is a MUST. WDW tap water just doesn't cut it.
What kind of coffee is in the Aulani rooms? And what ratio? I will bring filters and buy some Kona coffee also.

Well glad I saw this... we always bring our own coffee and filters and always have to use bottled water (can't drink the water there). Now I see that they have changed to pods (thanks for the heads up!). I just happened to get a small Keurig (thank you Kohls for Kohls cash and 30% off) so it is all packed and ready to go with us and be stored in our Owners Locker.

The coffee "pods" are the same they have always been, just now they are Joffrey's coffee. 4-6 cup prefiltered pack that is used in a Mr Coffee style basket coffee maker. The hotel rooms have the single cup pods (not K-cups either).

I am so confused :)

If we bring a grinder, beans and filters, will we be able to make coffee at VGF, or will we need keurig style pods? If not keurig style, what kind? I am not sure what to pack but I AM sure the coffee did not do it for us in September.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. DH keeps asking if we are bringing our Keurig so I suggested we just buy one of the small ones to use for travel :)
