Coffee packs?

I am so confused :)

If we bring a grinder, beans and filters, will we be able to make coffee at VGF, or will we need keurig style pods? If not keurig style, what kind? I am not sure what to pack but I AM sure the coffee did not do it for us in September.

You should just need basket style coffee filters.

Well glad I saw this... we always bring our own coffee and filters and always have to use bottled water (can't drink the water there). Now I see that they have changed to pods (thanks for the heads up!). I just happened to get a small Keurig (thank you Kohls for Kohls cash and 30% off) so it is all packed and ready to go with us and be stored in our Owners Locker.

Don't you just love Kohl's cash and the coupons! Two years ago I picked up a shiny red Keurig mini for about $55! You would think that airport security would be used to seeing them going through the belt but they still stop me now and then to check out my Keurig bag lol. Don't have an Owners Locker so it's a bit of a pain to bring it through the airport but good coffee is worth it isn't it?

.

Thanks for this thread, Bobbi!
We found that bottled or filtered water is a MUST. WDW tap water just doesn't cut it.
What kind of coffee is in the Aulani rooms? And what ratio? I will bring filters and buy some Kona coffee also.

Kona coffee! :thumbsup2

Bring your grinder, beans and filters. They are regular Mr. Coffee type drip brewers - not Keurigs or anything like that. The "pods" mentioned are just prepackaged coffee grounds in a filter material so you don't need a separate coffee ground filter.

I just cut the filter bags open and measure the coffee. I take a few filters with me, just smash them flat to pack. I measure the coffee with a little plastic medicine cup (like on the top of a Nyquil bottle). That way I don't care if I lose it. Measured it against a coffee scoop at home, and it was the exact same size. Once I know exactly how many coffee scoops are in that filter pack, I then know how much water to use, based on our liking. Then the next time I don't have to cut it open and measure.

Ok so probably a silly question. I usually use my aireo press here at home with some really good coffee. I am not used to using a coffee pot lol. I was told for coffee at the grocery store the Chock Full of Nuts was not bad so I bought two cans from our grocery store for our upcoming trip.
My SIL and I are the only ones who will be drinking coffee and I typically drink 2-3 cups. I did order bottled water and I will be bringing filters.....so how much coffee should I measure out for a pot? My guess is a full pot and we would like it along the stronger side.
Thanks a ton!

I've never liked drip coffee makers. They all vary and if there is one thing I hate, it's screwing up a whole pot of coffee. Someone 2 years ago posted a link to staples or office depot or something and they were selling a travel keurig for $50 after a coupon code and free shipping so I bought it. It's small enough to fit in my carry on (even my "personal item" bag when flying spirit). We use that now on ALL trips....not just Disney. It has no water container, you just put one cup of water at time when ready to brew. I'm a dunkin donuts freak so I bring DD coffee and one of those reuseable filters like Ekobrew. I've become such a keurig coffee snob, I even take the thing when I go camping in our pop up.
