The disney wonder was having a sea day when the crew member went missing some where near mexico i guess as the mexican authorities have taken control of the situation with help from california.

Hugs and prayers to all of you involved in this situation. CMs, friends and family of the missing crew member, as well as those on board.

:grouphug: My thoughts and prayers are with the missing girl, her family and all the castmembers on the Wonder.

Sending prayers out to the CM and her family. May she be found safe!

Like it or hate it, an event of this nature is absolutely going to end up in the news. I would actually think that the crew would appreciate the many DIS DCL fans here who seem to genuinely care, versus the masses of general public who will shortly begin posting their random comments on the news sites.
Sadly, if this indeed a story without a good ending, it will take a long time for everyone involved to heal. If reading about it in the press hurts the healing process, those involved absolutely must avoid reading the news/boards, etc at all costs. I speak from personal experience.

There is no need to speculate on what has happened. Yes, it's in the news now and there's still no more info than when this thread was started.
Let's all be respectful of each other.

This needs to stop! I asked nicely earlier but was completely ignored.

I do believe this should remain on the board as it is a concern and is regarding Disney Cruise Line but to continue to debate, make rude comments and personal attacks is not necessary.

Please feel free to post your concerns, prayers and best wishes as well as any facts but keep the bickering and rude comments to yourself.

After this post, any additional comments like this will be deleted.

CELEBRATION --
Disney Cruise Line is searching for a missing crew member from the Disney Wonder.

According to posts on the DISboards website, a crew member is believed to have gone missing Tuesday from the cruise ship.

The Wonder is in the middle of a 7-day cruise. On Tuesday, the ship was at sea.

People who said they are onboard the ship have posted that a female crew member from youth programs is missing.

Disney Cruise Line released this statement:

Given the circumstances we are very concerned about the crew member’s well-being and are doing everything possible to assist with the search effort and investigation.
The Disney Wonder is set to return to Los Angeles.

U.S. Coast Guard Public Affairs Officer Petty Officer Pamela Manns said the Mexican Navy has taken the lead in the search. The USCG out of Sacramento, Calif. provided air support with 2 C-130s aircraft, which provide long-range search and rescue support.

They were notified about the case on March 22 and responded by helping the Mexican Navy as requested with the C-130s, but as of now, Manns said “our involvement is over.”

I applaud the poster that contacted CNN.

This is news - not a private matter.

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to this girl and her family/friends.

In addition to that, I have booked a Disney Cruise and it is extremely concerning to me that someone can "go missing". I want to know how this happened, how quickly was it discovered, etc. More importantly, I want to know WHAT IS BEING DONE! The "secrecy" is hugely concerning to me (amid existing rumours of cover ups on cruise hips). The best way to stop the 'speculation' that seems to be causing people upset is to investigate and report on what is happening.

If this were my child, I would be screaming from the rooftops!!

This is all so sad. Not only is someone missing, but everyone is bickering about it. When most of us go on a Disney Cruise one of the very special things about it is the crew. Over the days we're vacationing these people are working hard to help us enjoy our trip. Our servers, our cabin crew, the people who take care of our kids. We start friendships, however short (or for some longterm). There are people we look forward to seeing everytime we're onboard. This makes a situation like this feel somewhat personal to us.
While the bickering isn't necessary, the good thoughts are. This crew member likely touched many of us personally (if only for a short cruise). Does it make it our business to get the details of her life? No. Does it make it a concern for us? Yes. I for one like to know there are kind, thoughtful people out there who care enough to take 5 minutes to look for an update or post a thought of prayor for someone who may or may not have been harmed.

May her friends and family find the answers they need and the strength to handle whatever the truth might bring. Hopefully it's all a misunderstanding.

I'm keeping the CM's on board every Disney ship in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

One thing I take from this is that it seems that DCL apparently notified the proper authorities on the 22nd when they realized something was amiss after she didn't report for her shift. They are not obligated to notify the media. I don't think there actually is any cover up or secrecy, other than just not releasing a bunch of speculative details. They made PA announcements and searched guest staterooms...if they are trying to cover something up...well, they suck at it.

I'm sorry if any comments here upset the CM's family, friends or coworkers. Mostly, I think we are just concerned about how something like this happens to anyone and want to know it is handled appropriately. It is not meant to diminish anything to do with the situation or cast aspersions on the young lady. Please focus on the comments that express sincere concern and caring, which, I believe, are the vast majority of comments here.

We were just on the Wonder last weeks cruise and I sure hope that everything somehow ends up ok. If missing the day a sea, that is odd? Just missing in general is very odd, it does not sound good. prayers for the missing person and their family and loved ones.

If she went missing in the middle of the night it could be hours before it is noticed i.e. until she doesn't turn up to her shift. It isn't unusually for someone for sleep over in someone elses cabin or for your roomie to be asleep when you come in for an evening and when you leave in the morning.

I for one am very sorry to hear that someone is missing and I am hoping and praying that the Mexican offiicials and navy are doing all they can to try and help the situation.
I am pretty sure that there is no covert or major coverup going on here. Disney made general announcements on the ship, and did make a statement. For the poster who ran to CNN, I hope you never have to deal with anything like this situation, because you just might want some privacy in this type of matter. My thinking is that Disney went public when they were sure they had something to say, before that they may have had concerns or issues that may never surface to the public.

I hope for the return of this young woman, my heart cries for her family and friends and for the poor lost sole wherever she may be at this time.

People please stop dehumanizing everything...the bottom line is that someone's child, sibling, or maybe best friend is missing and everyone on land is at the mercy of the Mexican Navy right now.

Well said. I don't get why everything that isn't reported to a news agency is a 'coverup'. Disney acted totally appropriately in this matter. I see no evidence that they tried to cover up anything.

Many prayers, positive thoughts and tons of Pixie dust to this young lady's family, her fellow crewmembers and the Disney family etal. :grouphug:
My heart is with you. I hope she's found safe.

If DCL was trying to cover this up, they would have been more covert about the oboard announcements, and the public internet service would be suddenly "broken." The priority in something like this is doing everything possible to find the lost person, not to bother with the media. I continue to pray for all involved. In the overall scheme of things, Disney has way fewer problems than other cruise lines (granted, their fleet is also much smaller), and the Wonder even prevented a tragedy by saving that person who jumped off the Carnival ship (I happened to be on that crusie). I just hope beyond hope that somehow this situation can have a similarly positive ending.

My family sails the Wonder this Sunday. I have two grand children who now will not be able to leave the clubs on their own. We will pick them up instead.

My heart aches for this young lady and her family. God bless her and lets all hope she turns up safe and sound.
