Closest hotel to DTD?

hilton on one side -

Grosvenor on the other side (pretty bad reviews).

Buena Vista Palace (Wyndham on the map) is across from SSR.

SSR is a Disney resort (DVC).

the others are owned and operated by others.

SSR is the closest - but it is not a hotel.

The Hilton's the closest hotel from DTD. The Grosvenor, on the opposite side, isn't much further. Walking to either property can require a lengthy wait at a traffic light. The main walkway into the Buena Vista Palace is directly across from the bus depot at Marketplace -- signs direct you to cross at the corner (by the Grosvenor), but traffic is usually light enough to easily cross*. If you do this, the BVP is probably closest -- especially if you're staying within the annex building.

Some accomodations (like those close to Marketplace...West Side is also within walking distance of other accomodations, but requires a lengthly walk up a golf cart path) are roughly equidistant is walking to the Hilton or BVP... but most accomodations will require a lengthy (although plesant) walk. Also note that Disney asks its guests not to utilize the walkways after dust... when the former Village Resort/Disney Institue occupied the property, the walkway was lighted and one use to be able to take a golf cart between the properties (SRS -> Marketplace or DTD). They even had a designated golf cart path to parking at Marketplace!

(note from above)
*=Yeah, you could be ticketed for jaywalking but I doubt that will happen... I, and many others, have crossed in front of Disney Security/Orange County police many times without even being stopped for a warning).

Not sure what you mean by SSR not being a hotel -- technically it's not (time share/vacation rental-whatever you want to call it), but one can rent rooms just as easily here as they could at the other properties. And all four properties tag themselves as resorts :).
