Epcot has also lost the DSA behind England in the garden area. AK has lost two , one between Asia & Africa in a nice shaded area. The other outside of Flame Tree, next to some shop before the bridge. These were not relocated just removed. This is as of this week.

:worried: I sure hope they bring those DSAs back. Both the one in England and the one in AK were favorites of ours. The one in AK was so peaceful, and it was way off the beaten path. So it was considerate of both smokers and non-smokers. I can't fathom the logic of removing that one. :(

DH went off the wall over the one in AK. Went on rant about "I don't care to come back here anymore":lmao:. I must admit I was po'd too:smokin: :furious:

Are you sure you didn't just miss the one behind the UK? We just used it last month. The area is a lot smaller than it used to be (just 2 benches) and is tucked way back in the corner, but it was still there with the trash can/ash tray.

No, didn't miss it. We were there in April & all the ones I've mentioned were still there at that time. Not this time though. It seems to me, they are eliminating not relocating, JMO.

Any volunteers to check this stuff out and report back in the next month or two?

We won't be there again until November, but it'd be nice to know if this is a long-term change or something else. :)

We'll be there the weekend of July 4th. We'll definitely check it out and post back. Fingers crossed it was just one of those "cleaning" things and they will all be back!

Okay, here's my first post on this board, I've read through most, if not all, of the posts and surprisingly, despite all the awesome information I've gathered, I still have a question for the experts. I've been to Disney umpteen times but never stayed at Boardwalk, and I'm DYING to do so. However DH and I are smokers, not casual smokers either, sadly we smoke like its our job. I've seen the maps and the DSA, but let's face it... it's a small blue box on a sheet of paper. Can anyone tell me which is better? (i.e. closer to DSA) should I go BWI or BWV? I'd like to do the concierge level, but what I've read is that it can be quite a hike to an elevator to get out of hotel. Are there any 1st floor deluxe rooms I could request? I'm also looking at the garden villas because they seem so adorable, but again, if we have to walk a good distance it won't be worth the money. I truly want to play by the rules, but let's face it, Disney is not a cheap endeavour, if I spend big money and DH is inconvenieced by smoking rules, he may put the kybosh on any future visits, which may send us to divorce court...LOL. As all of us heathen smokers know, that first cigarette (or three) with coffee in the morning and the end of the day cigarette (or three, lol) with a cocktail are key to a successful vacation. If anyone can suggest a specific room to request or area of rooms or garden suites I would be forever beholden to you.

There is a DSA near the quiet pool, which would be close to the garden suites, but will be somewhat of a hike to the concierge louge. There are quite a few DSA's at BW but depending on where your room is you may consider it a hike to get to them. We've requested to be close to the DSA at BWV and lucky enough we were given a villa near the elevator.

Does anyone know the DSAs for Saratoga Springs?

Thank you.

There are DSA's in front of each building in the Grandstand. Nice ones with benches at one entrance and standing areas at the other entrances. There are DSA's near bell services & outside of AP, there's also one outside of community hall (not far from the main pool)

Thanks!! I did get a little nervous when I looked at the map because they were not all listed, but then I read the note stating at the entrance of each guest room building :) I don't smoke but my husband does and I like to keep him happy. I didn't tell him yet that the areas in the parks have been reduced :rolleyes1

Hi all,

Dh and I are both serious smokers. Tentatively planning first trip to WDW for spring 2009. Been reading through this thread, but it sounds like the DSAs keep changing? :confused3 And that maybe not all DSAs are marked on the maps, or that some maps have DSAs marked that no longer exist? So though I've looked at the maps, thought I'd post this question...

What, in your (smokers') opinions, are the most "smoker-friendly" resorts onsite?

What, in your opinions, are the least "smoker-friendly" resorts onsite?

And finally... do you think it is worth looking into offsite? Had my heart set on being onsite, but if we'll be stressed out the entire time running around to DSAs, will definitely consider offsite. We smoke a pack a day each. We both have mental health diagnoses (in recovery from them, but smoking is part of our recoveries... nicotine helps calm some of our biochemical imbalances. Dh can sometimes do a patch or gum--not me, all the stop-smoking aids make me get dizzy and vomit. I'm probably a more considerate smoker than dh is--it is going to make him very cranky to not be able to use a balcony. Sigh. Should we go off-site?)

(Sorry so long.)

I can comment on the smoking areas of CBR. I saw (and used) many there. Most of the courtyards I saw had very nice areas. Tables with umbrellas in a few and some just a bench with an ashtray. If you get a room with a courtyard view I think yall would be real happy. You would be able to see the DSA from your room. There was a great DSA area right next to the bar at the main pool. I would go get some coffee from OPR and sit there in the morning. I never felt like I had to go far. However I am used to going outside to smoke. DH is not a smoker..so I don't smoke in the house.
Now the parks are no problem for me. I know all the DSA's by heart. :rotfl: I have heard of some of them going away and that is a bit upsetting because the ones that I heard were gone were two of my favorite ones. :headache:
Hope that helps!

Hi NLD, both DH and i are heavy smokers too, and the ONLY onsite resort that we will consider is Fort Wilderness Cabins as you are allowed to smoke on your own deck here. This means that we can just step outside with our morning coffee or whatever. DSA'S are plentiful in the parks and we have never had any problem locating them.
