Hi, what kind of DSA's are at the Pop??

Hi I was there in Feb.There is a great DSA close to Classic Hall , as you are facing the entrance to the lobby it is on your left!! Also a few tables near Petals bar and close to pool! All along the path by the lake are several DSA's So if you request a room near the path you can reach one easily especially on first floor ! I had no problems at Pop!!

Thank you both VERY much for the info. I'll spend some time looking into Fort Wilderness and CBR.

Any smokers been to CSR lately? That was the one I was leaning towards.

question for the smokers. We usually spend 2-3 weeks at Disney World and i love to smoke cigars. When i am in DTD i am usually in Westside area if smoking. Can i walk around out side smoking. Do i need to only do it in DSA. If i've bought a cigar at Sosa's that would be silly to not be able to walk outside and smoke but run to area. Normally i'll go to blues club but last years just stay at the Sosa bar.

Can anyone tell me for sure if there is still a DSA on the ramp between roratonga and Niue at the poly?

I've been a slug, I'll admit! Have you ever noticed that if you're gone for just a few days it takes to a week to catch up on everything? :rolleyes1

Anyhow, some DSA info.

1. SSR. SSR is definitely smoker friendly. All entrances to all buildings have a bench with an ashtray. Now, if they were only in a shaded area....but what the hey. At least they are plentiful!

2. Magic Kingdom. All DSAs are still there. We spent 2 days there and had ample opportunity to check them all out. Has anyone else noticed that you meet the absolute nicest people at the DSAs? I think if I ever quit smoking I'll still go hang out at DSAs just to meet all the great people! Hey Chip from SCA, if you're reading this, thanks for the pin! :wave2:

3. Epcot. Sadly, we didn't get to go around the world. We were there just a few hours. I know that a CM I spoke with there said that they were eliminating some DSAs. I don't know which ones are gone. I'm scanning in the latest map we received and I'll point out the DSAs we know are still there. Didn't get to England though...sorry!

Update with actual Epcot locations will be posted soon, promise.....

Here are what we remember from the Epcot DSAs. Like I said before, we were only here for a few hours so didn't get to a lot of places. We spent all of our time in Future World, except for a brief trip to get margaritas from Mexico, a disappointing trip to China to see what we had thought were going to be full size tomb warriors (cute little reproductions, but not what we were expecting), and our first and last time riding Maelstrom!

The DSAs below are ones we know for a fact were there July 6 2008.

Using the map from http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/epcot.htm

I'm going by the numbers on the map. Makes it easier to point everything out.

Beside #2 - still there
Beside #6 - the one showing directly beside is not there, the one further to the left on the monorail line is still there
Beside #5 - to the right is still there - didn't see the one to the left?
Beside #11 - Norway beside the viking both is still there
Between #8 and #9 - the DSA has moved closer to the monorail line
Between #8 and #7 - gone
Beside #7 - still there

We'll be back in August. Hopefully we'll get more details then!

We were at WDW from May 24-June 4, 2008 and as far as DTD goes there were still ash trays everywhere just like there has always been basically on top of every trash can so as far as I could tell there aren't really any smoking restrictions there. HTH.

The one between Test Track & Mission:Space was still there in May. I hope it still is, since it's a very pleasant one and off the main walkway. I really hate that the one between The Land and The Seas is gone. That's another one that wasn't on the main walkway and was very pleasant. I don't understand why they'd get rid of the ones that are the least obtrusive.

ITA about meeting great people in the DSA's!

Thank you for the report, DoOverDreams! I hope your trip went very well. :goodvibes

Hi there~ My DH is a smoker... trying to quit, but I am sure he will still be smoking, at least a few times a day, when we are in Disney in August.

I know that there is no smoking on balconies, so you guys request rooms "near a DSA"? I am not sure how to word my room request, I am kind of thinking I want a first floor room with a patio near the pool, where there is a DSA. That way he could go right out the sliders in our room and walk over to the DSA instead of taking and elevator/stairs and having to trek through the whole building.... Any thoughts/experience with this?

Thanks!

J

You could request first floor, inner courtyard to get what you want.

We requested "near Bay Lake" since we didn't mind doing the stairs, and got a great room all the way at the end.

But honestly, it's not too bad to get around the Lodge at all, in my experience. There are stairs at the Bay Lake ends of the wings, then elevators in the middle of the wings. So the worst case scenario might be walking a quarter wing, going down an elevator, then walking about another quarter of a wing to get to the nearest exit.

I guess what I'm saying is, do put in your request, but don't stress too much about it. I did last year, because I wanted to be both near the DSA and Roaring Fork (I go down and get breakfast and bring it back to the room for DW and I every morning). I wanted to be at the end of the north wing, but we got the end of the south wing.

So there we are, at the farthest point you could possibly be from Roaring Fork, and you know what? It was no big deal. I went down the stairs, out the door, then diagonally across the courtyard, opened the doors, and I was there. Coming back, I walked across the lobby, went up the elevator, and walked down the hall. It was a piece of cake, even balancing a tray with coffee mugs and whatnot on it all the way back.

I couldn't agree more, and they keep trying to tell us that smoking is anti-social :confused3 :)

We finally found the new map we got July 4th weekend from Epcot. It does show the new DSAs on it. I hope this helps with planning!

I apologize in advance for the quality of the scan....

Thanks for posting the new map :goodvibes

Very sad that they removed my favorite DSA behind the UK near the labryinth :sad2:

I hope the other DSA's are back though. When we were there in June the one behind Innoventions West near the restrooms wasn't there and neither was the one near Living Seas/Nemo, same for the one near TT.

I hope Disney will reconsider removing so many DSA's. We always use them, always following the rules, the least they could do would be to keep as many of them around for our convenience.

I don't see any near Soarin'or the Land!! My all time fav.in the Parks is at MK near the Speeway!! I agree it is a great place to meet and chat!!

Is the one behind/beside Mouse Gear gone, too? That was a pretty convenient one for us.

It also looks like the one in France was moved back. Is there nowhere to sit now? I enjoyed sitting on those benches.

Ugh. :sad2:
