 Good morning!

Thank you so much. Your comments mean a lot to me considering they come from the queen of all things WL/CL:thumbsup2. BTW, why do you think they were unable to relocate the lounge?

I just realized that Mousemommy1, who is on vacation in MD with her kids right now, is booked CL around the same time as Cshel. I'm certain many others are affected, but I can only recall that Candace was also going at the same time as Cshel.

Has anyone else gotten the call about the closure?

After reading MM1's post, I think your dates don't overlap with the lounge closure or you would have heard from WL by now.

Hey, neighbor! Actually, I wonder if the rehab might be ahead of schedule since the South Wing's 7th floor was due to be rehabbed from July 7 - 27 which is during your stay, but you haven't been contacted about a closure, but Cshel, who is arriving a couple of days before you has:scratchin. I think the last rehab updates I noted from guests indicated that the rehab was actually slightly ahead of schedule.

Yes, they're just replacing all the carpeting near the elevators/hallways/lounge seating area - no lounge rehab as this was done fairly recently.

We were w/o power only for 5 hours and consider ourselves very lucky and have no damage to our property. I hope you are having a fun time and keeping cool!

I knew the queen of the OFC would know:goodvibes. I didn't know they had backordered items and couldn't complete some rooms.

Yes! We are neighbors right now! :goodvibes

I am really looking forward to this stay, and I would be extremely sad if we were moved...I am trying to keep a good attitude about it, and know if we can't stay there, than we just can't...and I'm sure it will be fine...but everything I have planned revolves around our WL stay....and I honestly don't want to stay at the Poly or CR...I would have booked it if I did. Even the best laid plans.....

Now if you could be upgraded to GF RPC that would be nice

Yes, but you would be getting upgraded to better resorts for the price of Wl that would be some major pixie dust. Wl will always be there.

Right now, the only pixie dust I want is for my reservation to stay exactly as it stands ....my trip is currently built around the WL, and I'd really like to not have to change my plans. :wizard:

I get that. Just trying to find a silver lining. I would love if this ever happened to me. I have been to Disney enough times that I can be flexible with my plans. I would jump on the chance to try something I couldn't normally afford. I would negotiate the heck out the situation, and get the best offer I could. I hope everything works out for you.

Thanks. I know that Disney really tries to take care of their customers in a tough situation...and I think that they did make a great offer to cshel. If it comes to be that we will have to change our plans, we'll do it and just be happy that we get to go, but overall, I like our plans the way they are. :goodvibes

Using the WDW booking site, it appears that CL rooms have only been pulled out of inventory starting July 7 (which is when the 7th floor SW rehab was to begin) through July 13. CL rooms appear in the inventory again starting July 14 and beyond.

Thank you for all the feedback..we have decided on the two connecting rooms CL/CR with MK Fireworks view, I just calleld WL CL back now. Andrew said there were no rooms on CL available so he is requesting for us to have a higher floor than CL and that we will have access to CL. We let the boys make the decision and they loved the thought of having their own room along with Monorail access and this is probably something we could never do without this happening. Our stay at WL CL was July 13th through 22nd and they said CL will be completely shutdown

I hope we are happy with CR, the modern look isn't really my thing, but the two rooms sound great

I think that was a great choice. I am also not a fan of the modern look but I think the two rooms would be great. It would still be frustrating since my entire vacation has been planned around staying at the WL.

Regarding the 25 Deluxe rooms at WL - has anyone booked (or even just seen) that category come up with an AP discount? I travel with a group of ladies (that met right here on The DIS!) so we need accomodations with at least 3 beds, so our options at WL (as far as I know) are limited to 2 rooms, a Deluxe room (correct me if I'm wrong but that's 2Q and a sleeper sofa) or a 2BR villa (again correct me if I'm wrong but a 1BR would only give us a king and a sleeper sofa, right?)

Great thread WDWKook! I was able to gather all of the info I needed from the very first page.

I wonder if they just pulled them for a week and plan on doing the carpet outside the lounge and partially down the hall during that week. Then reopen CL and just have the South Wing rooms blocked off and being worked on?

I can tell you when we were there they were still painting the halls. Caulking in the halls, and they were in and out of the room next to us working for two days.

The contruction people we ran into were all so polite and nice. Just thought I would say that :goodvibes

I'm so glad you found the first page helpful and welcome to the thread! You are correct about the 3 bed situation - Deluxe or 2-bedroom villa are your options at WL. I have never been able to get a discounted Deluxe room at WL or CR (or a suite for that matter) with our military or AP rate. The only Deluxe rooms I've found with a discount are BC, GF and BWI. (The FW cabins do have AP discounts and 4 beds.) But, that's not to say you shouldn't keep trying. You can check AP availability easily online. Good luck and let us know if you ever have any other questions:)

I think that's exactly what is happening, Rebecca. Cshel just hit it the week it's closed, but she is getting an amazing upgrade that more than makes up for any disappointment.

I'm not surprised the construction workers were nice - WL makes everyone happier:goodvibes

I don't think you could have made a better choice :goodvibes Just imagine laying in bed watching the castle change colors :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

This :thumbsup2 Exactly how I feel a bit of peace in a crazy world can't wait for October when I get to this share this with my guys

I am not complaining about my upgrade, but isn't it kind of strange that Disney would offer us such a great upgrade for our entire stay the 13th through the 22nd, if inventory for CL WL opens up again on the 14th?

Thanks for the info. Sorry to hear you haven't seen the WL Deluxe rooms with a discount. But I'll keep checking once they release the discount for October. I was lucky enough once to snag a BC Deluxe room with an AP discount, and there are only 6 Deluxe rooms at BC, so keeping my fingers crossed that with 25 Deluxe rooms at WL, just maybe one will show up sometime!

Just got back from our 4 night stay at WL. I was traveling with my two 14 year old nephews who really loved it. We were in deluxe room 5000 with club access. The lodge is beautiful. Staff was wonderful and super friendly. The staff in the club was so nice and it felt like they really cared. OFC is so big with plenty of seating. Prior to our stay at WL we stayed at the Boardwalk 3 times and I have to say that there is a much warmer and friendly feel at the WL. The boys said they liked WL so much more because of the staff.

Our room was newly renovated with new carpet, white comforters on beds and new bathroom tile. Some people say they didn't like the enclosed balcony but I'm under 5 foot tall and didn't mind it at all. I asked for a courtyard view but ended up with a Bay Lake view. The view was beautiful but it was pretty noisy because it was right by the boat dock and the geyser that goes off every hour and it's loud. It was also really far from the OFC. We weren't really bothered by the noise but for someone who wants to take a nap in the middle of the day, it could be a problem. The good thing was that we had a great view of the Electric Water Pageant and a partial view of Wishes.

I don't know if there was any rehad going on while we were there because we didn't see any signs of it. I took some pictures and if someone could tell me how to load them I'd be happy to share.

I imagine, as a courtesy, they didn't want you to have to interrupt your vacation by having a split stay. Disney has had to do this for guests many times in the past when guests' bookings overlap or coincide with an unexpected partial resort closure. Disney almost always upgrades these guests (like you) to help ameliorate any negative impact being "displaced" may have caused the guest (you). Though it doesn't happen to every guest, everyday, Disney does have a track record of going above and beyond to make guests happy. That's why we all love WDW so much!

You're welcome and don't give up!
