Placeholder Discount Increased to 30% Off Select Sailings

I am currently watching a three year old video from Bright Sun Films on You Tube reviewing the Wish, and I can see why perhaps the discounts are heavy on it. I know without a doubt, that the choice of a much older ship, the Fantasy, was the right choice.

Another day, another DCL discount. Seems like it would be easier to just decrease prices across the board instead of keeping up with all the different promotions!
Because they don't want to encourage ppl to wait to sail by making the next release so much cheaper- so they discount here and there until the ships fill... It is concerning that the Treasure has summer discounts. I also cannot figure out why no Alaska sailings on the Wonder were included but the ones on the Magic were... Odd choice.

I will say I had a DCL survey earlier this week. 90% off the questions were about price, the economy, and my personal feeling on how our family's financial future felt. They also asked about adult only sailings (everyone knows I want this as a once a year special offering like a DVC member cruise but Im losing hope) and drink packages.

DCL is having a hard time pulling us back. We recently canceled our Treasure booking.

We opted to cancel the Treasure booking to go to the London and Paris for a similar spend (including a longer vacation, upscale hotels, Disneyland Hotel, Paris, for a couple of nights, good theater tickets in London, and a couple of pricey dinners). As much as I love DCL, when I weigh going to the same stale itineraries against seeing parts of Europe we haven't been to, in style, for a similar or less price, the choice is pretty easy.

And when it's time for a tropical vacation, Celebrity is too enticing with a very similar experience, but better food, for much less. We have two Celebrity cruises booked. One of them is an intinary DCL never does anymore (Bermuda from NYC).

We will be back to DCL, but it will either be on a classic ship or when I feel like the price-to-value ratio is better on the newer ones. I love it, but it's hard to peak my interest once I start comparing options for the same vacation spend.

Maybe Disney is seeing a price ceiling ahead? Maybe some of the newer ships are not well liked?
I think the price ceiling is very likely. They're just so expensive right now!

As to the newer ships not being well liked, people seem to love the Treasure. The 3 and 4 night cruises on the Wish are just too short. She's going to be consistently discounted until they offer her longer sailings.

I have not been on the DCL scene since like 2011 I think. And I know I am late to the game, but really seeing what they did with the Wish, and the other ships as well is just sad. We are booked in a 8C on the Fantasy and on the newer ships, they skipped out on the cushion in the huge porthole. That was just cheap!

A lot of people are pulling back on spending to compensate for the cost of living crisis. I find it shocking that Disney did not see this coming.
