(CLOSED) Disney's BOARDWALK INN and VILLAS Information Thread ~2012~

To put it another way, there are no exits* to the Boardwalk except from the center lobby. There are exits to the internal grounds, which you could then use to navigate outward. On the Villa side there is an exit behind Jellyrolls which you can then walk around to get to the Boardwalk (and easy access to the Swan/Dolphin), but I don't think you can walk around ESPN in the same way (can anyone confirm?)

*- Also on the villa side there is a staircase that exits by the Wyland gallery, which is a nice shortcut on the way out, but that is an exit only. It's more accurate to say there are no ENTRANCES from the Boardwalk into the resort.

The obvious reason given for this is guest safety.

You are correct, on the Inn side, the only exit to the Boardwalk is next to Belluevue Lounge. We looked when we were there 2 weeks ago. There is definitely not one down by ESPN Club, it is right up next to a wooded area.

On the Villa side, we used the exit next to the Health Club.

I saw a staircase, but it was closed off the whole week, looked like they were doing some work on it, but not sure where it went to.

My memory is a little hazy here, but isn't there an exit to the Boardwalk at the end of the villas, toward Jellyrolls, either coming out around the DVC models or a little further down?

I think so, I never went over that far, but my husband said he came out close to that end somewhere.

Are there any exits on the sides (ends) of the BWI or are the only exits in the center lobby area?
In one section of the Club Level hallway past the Sonora Suite is an exit down a set of stairs that will take you out to the Quiet Pool/Garden Suite area side of the Boardwalk Inn.

Also just before the Innkeeper's Club door and Cast Member desk area on the 4th floor is another exit, however I am not sure which part of the Boardwalk that goes to since I never went down there before.

LOVE the new thread and the pictures. Thanks to all involved with putting this together!
You're welcome, Scott MC. I'm glad you like it and I've enjoyed your GF photos:goodvibes

Thanks for this great, updated thread. Booked a trip to B'walk on Saturday and arrive there in just 12 day!
Congratulations on booking and thanks for the compliment:). I hope you have a great vacation.

In case anyone is interested, I posted a little about the various food offerings in the Club Lounge from our December 2011 trip here. Most details about breakfast and evening (5-7pm) offerings because that's what we took advantage of the most!
I was interested and thank you for posting the link, krb2g. I was excited to learn it seems they have sashimi:love:

CrResort and all. Just FYI that door behind the desk is the back stairs down the the 3rd floor deluxe rooms right by that entrance. Very convenient and with the bigger balcony we loved the 3rd floor deluxe just like KerryCM.:goodvibes

Thanks for that information.

We just returned from a one week stay in a Deluxe CL room #4255. I loved every minute of it! From David greeting us at check-in to the wonderful gourmet coffee machine in the lounge to Scott replacing a lost KTTW twice!
We loved having a balcony (though it was very small) overlooking the Boardwalk. The kids enjoyed watching the performers from there. With older kids you cannot beat being able to walk to DHS (their favorite) and Epcot.
One day we mentioned that we had minute ants in our sink and we never saw them again after that.
Even though we were on the meal plan, two nights we skipped dinner because we had eaten in the lounge. When we got back to the room after a night in the parks, we got a whole pizza with two drinks and two desserts for two CS credits at the Boardwalk Pizza place. Not the best pizza ever, but my kids really liked it and I thought is was a great value!
My husband and I both agreed that we would never stay anywhere else on Disney property!

Thanks for posting you're review and here is a tip if you ever stay in a Deluxe Room again.

The Deluxe Rooms located on the 3rd floor will have a bigger balcony compared to the ones located on the 4th floor like you stayed in.

However staying in a Deluxe Room on the 3rd floor means not being close to the lounge like you were on the 4th floor. Personally I like being closer to there and not having a bigger balcony.

Sorry if this was answered but, i was wondering how many rooms the Broadway Inn has? I saw the listing for the number for Villas but couldnt find for the inn.

Thanks

Thanks for the tip! I had read that going in and decided that we would not request anything and just see what we got. We really liked being on the fourth floor (our room was the first one right inside the CL door) because the kids could go back and fourth from the lounge. There was only one time (when watching a magician on the boardwalk) that the small balcony was an issue. We just loved having a balcony!

Good to know....was this the Pizza Window pictured in post #8? I was under the impression that the Boardwalk Pizza place DID NOT accept the dining plan :confused3
Also you mentioned desserts? There are no desserts listed on the menu for the Pizza Window? Are there TWO different places to get pizza on the Boardwalk???? :surfweb:
Thanks for the info :goodvibes

Hi everyone! :wave2: I'll be checking into the Boardwalk Villas in two weeks (side note: :woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:) and I wanted to put in an order with Edible Arrangements for chocolate-covered strawberries to be delivered to us on DH's birthday.

I know if I ship things down in advance, they go to the Convention Center for me to pick up---but what about things like chocolate-covered strawberries, flowers, etc.? Do they go to the front desk and they'll call to let us know they're in?

What address should I use for delivery of something to the Boardwalk?

Thanks everyone!
Ann

It all depends on how the items were sent. For example if they are sent via Fed Ex or UPS then they will go directly to the Convention Center and you will need to pay a fee when picking them up. However if they are sent via the United States Postal Service they go directly to the Boardwalk front desk and a Cast Member will then deliver the item to your room. So no matter what you also use the full address for the Boardwalk when sending them out.

AAA is offering a 20% discount for our dates for BWI Villas so we are going to reserve it! I will jump on any AP or general discount if it comes out (I'm getting an AP for the first time ever this May). I'm so excited, I can really get pumped up now for staying here!

My extended family will be staying with me at CSR for 6 nights. Then me and the kids head to BWI Villas to meet dad (um their dad!, my DH!) for a long weekend. The only downside is that we are going in JULY! MY DH said he would never go back when it is that hot but I've promised him lots of swimming and waterparks if he needs it :)

I'd like to try a restaurant we haven't eaten at yet. We have stayed at BC before and been to Cape May (blah), Beaches n Cream (blah), but no other table service in the area (other than Epcot!) I was thinking Kouzzina - thoughts??

Hi Tinkerbellie 16! In the Epcot resorts area, we've taken the kids to Il Mulino, Bluezoo and Yachtsman and Flying Fish and would recommend all of those. (We've also been to ESPN, Captain's Grille, Cape May and Beaches and Cream, but it looks like you'd like something different!) I know all the restaurants I'm mentioning are signatures, but they are all great with kids. While the menus at Bluezoo and Flying Fish are most interesting to us, and everyone enjoyed Il Mulino, and there's just something about Yachtsman that actually puts it pretty high up on our list. That really surprised me - it was just a nice atmosphere, and I remember the CMs were particularly friendly with the kids during our most recent visit.

Anyway, can't get our kids into the Kouzzina menu - our oldest refuses to order "kid food" so menu is important. So I'll be interested to hear more opinions about it!

I have a question for those of you who frequent BWI CL. As I've posted before, BWI CL is just amazing and the CMs there are incredible. I won't rehash all of our wonderful experiences with them last August, but I'll just say that when two pre-teen boys asked to send Jackie, Pete and the CL CMs a family Christmas card, I knew the BWI CL CMs made a huge impression.

So my very best friend is staying BWI CL with her family in a few months. They are a primary reason we tried BWI in the first place, and now we're recommending CL to them. So I'd like to arrange a surprise for them in their room. BWI IPO and Jackie helped us put together a great in-room pirate-themed surprise for our boys last year. So I'm wondering if I could contact IPO to arrange for and purchase some surprises for their room. But I don't know if that's appropriate because, while we'll return to BWI CL next year, we don't currently have a reservation. Alternatively, I could pick up some items for them when we're at WDW in April and deliver them to BWI CL (our friends are visiting just few days after us.) Thoughts?

Right now I like the idea of purchasing some stuff for them and giving it to the BWI CL Cast Members, because as you said right now you don't have a BWI CL reservation.
