Last time we got the exact opposite of our request, so it may not matter. :confused3

That being said, I would stil request what you feel is most important, in order. Just in case it does make a difference, it couldn't hurt to try. Since you are arriving early, I would ask when you check in if your requests were filled, and if not, maybe they would be able to check again to move you. Good luck!

psac - I am curious since you say about last time getting the exact opposite of what your requested.........did you do online check-in? I read a few weeks back a post that said they were told if you do online check in it wipes out any requests you made previously, which I could see being a possibility since the online check-in requests are quite limited.

I just called today to verify my requests and only the one when I originally made the reservation was listed not the one I called back and made at a later date. :headache:

Morning everyone! I just figured out that we will be at the Boardwalk when the Olympics start. Has anyone been there during the Olympics? Just wondered if ESPN Club would do anything interesting. Actually, I think I'll post another thread about this in general. Thanks!
I am sure they would show some events like Basketball. However with the time difference between Orlando and London when they are on live how many people would take the time to go there to watch any of the events and not spend time in the Theme Parks.

WDWKOOK,
In the description of the ESPN Club on the 1st page here is something else which I think you should add.

If anyone wants to place a take out order from there all they do is tell the Cast Member working behind the Bar who will then put in their order. Also with all take out orders they automatically add 18% gratuity to your bill.
Off I go to the first page - thanks:thumbsup2

People might go in for the events that would be morning for us. Plus, you might get local traffic? I remember I was in Disneyland during the 2006 World Cup. I was staying at the Disneyland Hotel on points. Since the Cup was in Germany, the first game was at 6:00am. I would get up at 5, have breakfast at the ESPN Club while watching the two games, then head into the park. The place was packed and I'd have to guess there were a lot of locals there.

Something else to remember is the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk doesn't open until 11:30 AM. Plus since they are broadcast on NBC in the United States it's not like others can't watch it in their Hotel rooms and etc, since they get the NBC Orlando channel. So unless they want the sports bar atmosphere it's not a must that they go off to the ESPN Club.

We are staying CL in Dec. I am just trying to get an idea of what the CL offerings are.

In the pics on page 1 it looks like cereal, pastries, fruit, yogurt for bkfst.

What are the snack offerings? Appetizer offerings? Dessert offerings? Just trying to get an idea of what might be there.

:)

In December 2010 I got to see the Leafs games when they were playing in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. I requested that they put the Calgary and Vancouver games on one of their TV's in the bar area which was never a problem. As for the game against Edmonton that happened to be on one of their big screen TV's with sound in the bar area, so that was a nice surprise.

In December 2011 the only game I saw was another Toronto vs Vancouver match up, which I asked to be put on one of their TV's in the dining room area.

So to answer your question if there is an NHL game you want to watch just tell them the teams who are playing that night and they will put it on for you.

thanks for the info:thumbsup2

I left out an important part to that story. The ESPN Club had opened up early especially for the World Cup. I don't know if the Olympics would be considered as big a deal to make it worth opening early.

Each day from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM they have two different types of Salad, Cheese, Bread and different hot food offerings. Some of those have been Veggie Spring Rolls, Bacon Wrapped Scallops, Spaniktapita, Duck Quesadillas, along with oter items that I forget.

Their dessert offerings are also different each night which could be Rice Krispy Squares, Mickey Cup Cakes, Brownies and etc.

The snack offerings from 11:30 AM - 4:00 PM could be some of the items used during the dessert rotation. Plus some different items they offer is Chips, White Chocolate Pretzels, Gummy Worms and etc.

Since I am staying at the Boardwalk Inn during the London Olympics I can see for myself if they are planning on doing that. However if I had to guess I can't see it happening and this is why. During previous Olympics that took place in Europe, Asia or Australia NBC didn't really show the events live. They would have been shown during prime time viewing hours after they happened and when everyone would know the results.

Also don't forget about all the Major League Baseball games that will also be going on during that time, so I am sure those will be broadcast on a lot of their TV's. Plus around mid August is when the NFL pre-season games start which have also been shown at the ESPN Club. So I think people might be going there for those events and not the Olympics.

Great, thank you SO much! Those hot appetizers sound yummy :thumbsup2

Does anyone know of the Luna Park slide has a height requirement? My youngest loves water park slides and will bummed if he can go down this one.

It doesn't seem so, it looked like some pretty young kids going down the slide.

I agree! Our youngest son went down the slide several times last summer on his own (although we needed to catch him at the bottom.) At that time, he was four years old, and under 40" and not yet swimming independently.

We plan on arriving early on our check in day, probably around 10am. Will we be able to make use of the facilities (ie. pool) when we arrive?

Absolutely. Even if your room isn't ready, you can use all the facilities from the time you check-in until midnight of the day you check-out. You can check-in as early as 0700.
