City, Sand, and Savanna - Link to new trip report

I swear you know exactly when I am tied up teaching a class with no access to a computer. :sad2:

I will agree with Magdalene and 1 in the first post the blurry Judy at Pecos Bill and 2 on BTMRR in the second post.

I probably would have counted the PoC one in error. :headache:

Amazing shots in PoC I have been after the Pirate with the cats and the hairy leg photo for a while but have not been successful yet. The last trip was probably the closest, but I have some editing to do since they have some "noise" so I need to see if I can "quiet " that a bit. :lmao:

Ok, I just realized that with all the excitement about counting Judys I totally missed out on commenting on the update! Sorry!!!

I loved your commentary on the pirate pictures! And I am very impressed how well some of them turned out. That's a difficult ride to get decent pictures on.

It's a shame that Poppy did not try BTMRR first, in the front cars he might have been fine as I find it to be much less jerky than Space Mountain because it relies more on speed than sudden movements.

The first few times I was at Pecos Bill was on sunny January days when we sat outside in the nice and warm (not hot) sun and there weren't any crowds. That for sure makes a difference. Also, I remember that a few years back they replaced the chairs (with a back) with the current stools and I think that makes the place much less comortable.

I must admit that on my recent trip I specifically took a picture of a Kodak Picture Spot Sign as those will be going away soon most likely. Kodak stopped being a sponsor, so I guess they will not keep those around.

Our lunch on this particular day would be somewhere new for us: Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café in Frontierland.
Really??? You've never been there before??? :faint:

Judy wasn't happy that she had to go back into the fray in order to get straws and napkins. You'd think that they could have some of those kinds of things in these separate dining areas so that you wouldn't have to walk all the way back. If they did, we didn't see them.
They do. You didn't see them.:thumbsup2

Unfortunately, to go to the fixin's bar I had to go back out into the chaos again. Here's a picture of my taco salad after I doctored it up a bit.
Unfortunately, this part is true. There's only one place to get your fixin's

Sorry Pecos Bills fans.
That's alright. One less family I have to jockey for position with at the fixin's bar.

But, this battle's been going on so long, you'd think they could get the range to fire the cannonballs figured out by now.
Oh, you know how inconsistent cannonballs fly. They hit on occasion. That's one strong fort. They don't build em like that these days.

Do you think if Disney were creating this attraction today, they'd include a human auction? Not too likely.
Not that I'm in favor of a human auction, but it really is a shame that society is becoming so PC that we're offended by pretty much everything.

But I tried one more as we went past, and I like how it turned out.
Very nice! :thumbsup2

I took a crowd picture from the fastpass line, looking back toward Splash and the intersection with Adventureland. Yes, it had become pretty crowded. After days and days of rain, we finally had a decent park-day and everyone was taking advantage of it.
 :scared1: :faint: That's a lot of people.

Time-out for a Public Service Announcement: People, the "Kodak Picture Spot" sign means that it's a picturesque spot for a photo, but you want to frame the shot so that the sign is not actually in the photograph.
If the sign isn't supposed to be in the photograph, then why is it there? :rolleyes1 :rotfl2::rotfl:

But I might have to start taking pictures with the signs, just for fun.
How do you know that isn't what they were doing? :confused3 :lmao:

I know 2, but I am going to take a huge chance and say three Judy's.......one that is very questionable...........

That was first post.........add two more Judy's from the second one

Pretty sure about four Judy's, but going with five for one that is a real push but seems to be Judy. :confused3

Nothing ventured nothing gained, right??? :rotfl:

At least I have a cushion to play with........... ;)

Oops, after reading you said you didn't know on the questionable one, so......

Four Judy's!

Rosie, is that you? :rotfl2:

After all your back and forth, you did hit the right answer finally so you have earned the point. :cheer2:

4, 2 in each post

The Rules Committee would like to award you an Eagle Eye point :magnify: for being the first with a clear, concise, post-specific answer.

Actually, I am going to change my answer to three Judys. The same ones as Marv but minus the blurry one in the PoC line.

No, but you can keep your Eagle Eye point :magnify:

My first post was from my mobile at Starbucks (went for an after work coffee). But on the big screen I can see that the "Judy" at PoC is actually Glenn's mother as the nose and the type of curl are both different.

first post one second post 2 grand total of 3.

the one in line for pirates is blury but is gram not judy.

No, it's Judy. I can tell by her glasses frames.

Updated scores:

Marvin - 16 Judy-sighting wins, 8 Eagle Eye points :magnify:
Pat - 6 Judy-sighting wins, 2 Eagle Eye points :magnify:
Mark - 4 Judy-sighting wins, 2 Eagle Eye points :magnify:
Dee - 4 Judy-sighting wins, 1 Eagle Eye point :magnify:
Rosie - 4 Judy-sighting wins, 2 Eagle Eye point :magnify:
Dan - 3 Judy-sighting wins, 3 Eagle Eye points :magnify:
Kelly - 3 Judy-sighting wins
Katharina - 3 Judy-sighting wins
Magdalene - 2 Judy-sighting wins, 1 Eagle Eye point :magnify:
Jenn (elphie101) - 1 Judy-sighting win, First Subscriber Honors!
Tanya - 1 Judy-sighting win
Molly - 1 Judy-sighting win
Kathy - 1 Judy-sighting win
Mary Ellen - 1 Judy-sighting win
MissLiz - 1 Judy-sighting win
sesame_123 - 1 Eagle Eye point :magnify:

Ptt pfft ptt......ptt pfft ptt ptt......

Marv, don't look now but I think you're leaking air.

My name's Judy, I'm here for the lunch.........
We came to Pecos Bill's but I don't like it a bunch.........

Oops, guess you didn't mean that type of wrap......... :rolleyes1

Oh, I get it now. :rotfl2: No, you start those out with "Boot....skirt....boot....skirt"

The "red blur" Judy........

Yep, can only be caught with special high-speed cameras.

That's doctored??? I would hate to have seen it to start with........ :confused3

Yeah, I didn't go overboard.

You got that trashcan pic just for Pat didn't you??

Oh, uh, yeah, that's right!

Right hand corner and side........blurry Judy number two.

Yep-er.

Not so sure........we all keep going back don't we???

But you're nervous about it, and that's what counts.

Probably not, but until they take my bid on the redhead I hope they keep it around......... :scratchin

It's all in a days pillagin'.

I'm guessing that's just that fake spray on stuff.......... :rotfl:

GLH! Great Looking Hair, from Ron Popeil. :thumbsup2

Nice pic.........interesting perspective that few probably look back and see! :thumbsup2

:)

Probably a wise decision by Poppy. We don't need to see another "Grumpy" photo so soon......... :rotfl2:

'zactly.

Judy's three and four

Correct and correct.

That is too funny!!! :lmao:

I thought so. :rotfl:

Marv, could you not have kept your answer?????

I thought I was going to catch him not reading.

Yeah I think Pecos Bill's "noise" might be part of it's atmosphere. The CM's working will at times start hootin' and hollerin' as well.

Well, that explains it! Kind of like the old west meets a rock concert.
Tumbleweed.gif
headbang.gif

OMG, the pirate leg hair. I have a half sister who hadn't been to Disney in, well, decades, but when we went in 2009 that's the one thing she remembered. It's real hair too. Ick.

Oh yeah, I forgot that it's real hair! I read that somewhere. Thanks for reminding me.
sick_zps81cba5a0.gif

The best time for Jack Sparrow is when the boats get backed up and you get stuck right in front of him. I've seen it happen for others... not me though. :sad2:

What we need, is a diversion!

I remember my first visit to Peco Bill's very well, and I was not too impressed by it at first, not only because Magdalene and I had an argument, but because I found it too dark. It was very very busy then at the counters as well, but we managed to find a nice quiet space somewhere in the back and I quite grew to like it there. But I guess it would have been impossible for you in June around lunchtime to find such a spot....

Aw, I think I remember reading about that. Oh well, there are lots of other places to try and I don't need to have an ever-increasing "must do" list!

I will have a look out for hairy male lags in DLP, but I'm afraid we will take only our small camera, so pictures might be blurry.

Yeah, and see if you can find some while on the PotC ride too! ;) :rotfl2:

Another great updated Glenn! Sorry you did not like Pecos Bills. It is one of my top 4 CS along with Boulangerie Patisserie, Tangerine Cafe, and Starring Rolls. That is why Disney has so many choices as there is something for everyone.

Great pix on pirates and I try and ignore the hairy leg. Of couse after riding Pirates in DL back in February I think it might be a bit of a let down when I ride it in October.

Looking forward to more and have a great summer!

Mary Kay

Our lunch on this particular day would be somewhere new for us: Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café in Frontierland. Walking in, my first impression was that it was loud and hectic,

And that was probably your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th impression too.

She wasn't really thrilled with the choices, which were basically burgers, the taco salad, bbq pork sandwich, caesar salad, or a chicken wrap.

Sounds like an awesome menu to me.:confused3

Most of the "hecticity" (yes, my word)

Good one! I'm totally stealing that.

It's amazing how these things blend in with the rest of the scenery when no one is playing the game.

::yes:: Like the spy missions, I thought the Imagineers did a great job with that. Our kids really liked the games a lot.

I tried to take some pictures while in line. Don't ask me whose head is in front of me here, I have no idea.

Carrot Top?

Dead men tell no tales. But their rotting corpses do make a mighty effective "no trespassing" sign.

:scratchin Maybe I'll try that in my back yard.

This scene when you emerge into the middle of a sea battle is my favorite, by far. I love how you can feel the spray of the cannonballs hitting the water. But, this battle's been going on so long, you'd think they could get the range to fire the cannonballs figured out by now.

:rotfl2: Maybe they're down to the point where they're firing forks and knives at each other.

Do you think if Disney were creating this attraction today, they'd include a human auction? Not too likely.

I think Andy summed it up best here.

Because he's the president of the "Leg Hair Club for Men". (But not only is he the president, he's also a client. ;))

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Never noticed that before.

But I tried one more as we went past, and I like how it turned out.

IMG_6463.jpg

Great one! That's a keeper.:thumbsup2

Walking back from Big Thunder, I had to laugh when I passed the Kodak Picture Spot near Splash Mountain because there were people getting their picture taken with the sign.

Time-out for a Public Service Announcement: People, the "Kodak Picture Spot" sign means that it's a picturesque spot for a photo, but you want to frame the shot so that the sign is not actually in the photograph.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I remember going to the Grand Canyon and watching this busload of foreign tourists pull up to an overlook (I won't mention the country, so as not to offend). All of the tourists piled off the bus, stood before one of the great natural wonders of the world, and took pictures with their family...in front of the bus. Then they piled back on and left. :confused3:rotfl:

But I might have to start taking pictures with the signs, just for fun.

Not that I'm in favor of a human auction, but it really is a shame that society is becoming so PC that we're offended by pretty much everything.

::yes::

This guy on the bridge is my favorite character in the attraction.

IMG_6459.jpg

Because he's the president of the "Leg Hair Club for Men". (But not only is he the president, he's also a client. ;))

On my first trip to WDW as a child ('83?, maybe), my father's girlfriend (who had been there before) pointed out the hair on the leg as a example of the level of detail at Disney World.

Now, if I'm riding Pirates with someone new, I can't NOT point out that little detail.

Having answered !!! I will now say I didn't think too much of the food and having to fight ypour way thru the crowd to get utensils and fixin' !!!Yuk!!!

Hi Glenn - I haven't replied in a long, long time on your thread but I wanted to say thank you for a tip I got from you on your trip report. We just spent the last week at WDW and we spent the first two nights at POR Riverside and went to see Yee Haw Bob based on your review. All I can say is fun, fun, fun. He came around and introduced himself before the show and we were absolutely amazed that when we said we were from Iowa he said that he had played a bar back in the late 70's in Iowa and it was in our hometown! We never said where we were from. Wow! We were amazed.

Plus, I don't think we stopped smiling or laughing the whole time we were there. What a great free entertainment spot to go to, well, almost free we did have a couple glasses of wine. :rolleyes1

So I just want to say thank you. If it weren't for your trip report I probably would have bypassed this. So glad you reported on it and that we didn't miss it. :worship:

I think we went on POTC enough times this trip that I noticed something different each time, more than I had from all my other trips. It's not the most thrilling ride and the DL one is much better, but it's still one of my favorite rides. ::yes:: :lovestruc

I will say, they really need to do a bit of a refurb, especially on the Jack's, his hair is too in his face most of the time. :rolleyes2 Some of the other animatronics I noticed needing some sprucing up.

We almost went into Peco's Bills this time around but Mackie kept reminding me we could have burgers any time, we we're in DW and we should partake of the things only DW offered. :goodvibes Girl after my own heart. :lovestruc Although we did use it to cut through faster at one point, I think to get to POTC.......the umpteen times we went on it.

You didn't offend me in the least...I'm not a fan of Pecos Bills at all (give me Cosmic Rays or Columbia Harbor House any day).

You got some graet shots in the Pirates attraction, and love the shots on Big Thunder as well.

I had never been to Pecos Bill's until my trip in Oct and can see where it could be full of hecticity. It was confusing to me and it wasn't that busy. I liked the Taco Salad and if I had to pick between that and Cosmic Rays, I do think Pecos would win but still prefer CHH.

Time-out for a Public Service Announcement: People, the "Kodak Picture Spot" sign means that it's a picturesque spot for a photo, but you want to frame the shot so that the sign is not actually in the photograph.

:rotfl2:

that is classic!

Oy those CROWDS!

Great Pirates Pics.

Great BTMMR pics.

Great Judy pics. I'm days late, but going with 4 Judys.

Hmmm - not sure why your Jack Sparrow is coming out blurry because that's usually the one picture I do get. :confused3

Yup - looks crowded. I guess that picture is just in time to remind me about June crowds since I plan to be in the MK in 9 days.

Your Pecos Bill taco salad looks yummy! But I agree with you - it IS hectic in there.

I swear you know exactly when I am tied up teaching a class with no access to a computer. :sad2:

Sorry about that. You really need to invest in a waterproof computer.

I will agree with Magdalene and 1 in the first post the blurry Judy at Pecos Bill and 2 on BTMRR in the second post.

I probably would have counted the PoC one in error. :headache:

The one in PotC as we got down to the boats was her, actually.

Amazing shots in PoC I have been after the Pirate with the cats and the hairy leg photo for a while but have not been successful yet. The last trip was probably the closest, but I have some editing to do since they have some "noise" so I need to see if I can "quiet " that a bit. :lmao:

If you ever need to borrow a hairy leg picture, you can borrow mine. Picture, I mean. ;)

Ok, I just realized that with all the excitement about counting Judys I totally missed out on commenting on the update! Sorry!!!

No problem, thanks for circling back!

I loved your commentary on the pirate pictures! And I am very impressed how well some of them turned out. That's a difficult ride to get decent pictures on.

Thank you. It is difficult, not quite as hard as Haunted Mansion, but hard.

It's a shame that Poppy did not try BTMRR first, in the front cars he might have been fine as I find it to be much less jerky than Space Mountain because it relies more on speed than sudden movements.

He was on BTMRR back in 2001 and liked it, but at that point of this trip he was just "done" with anything even approaching "adventurous".

January has to be great, just from a crowd standpoint! Yes, I’m all for chairs with backs versus stools.

I must admit that on my recent trip I specifically took a picture of a Kodak Picture Spot Sign as those will be going away soon most likely. Kodak stopped being a sponsor, so I guess they will not keep those around.

Oh wow, I hadn’t heard that. It makes sense though, Kodak is struggling.

Really??? You've never been there before??? :faint:

Nope. Only through trip reports from people like yourself.

They do. You didn't see them.:thumbsup2

Auugh. It figures. They need big neon signs then. I suppose they have those too?

Unfortunately, this part is true. There's only one place to get your fixin's

Aha!

That's alright. One less family I have to jockey for position with at the fixin's bar.

Whatever I can do to help.

Oh, you know how inconsistent cannonballs fly. They hit on occasion. That's one strong fort. They don't build em like that these days.

They've got the aim of a stormtrooper.

Not that I'm in favor of a human auction, but it really is a shame that society is becoming so PC that we're offended by pretty much everything.

I'm with you. But the times, they are a-changin'.

Very nice! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

 :scared1: :faint: That's a lot of people.

It was not easy to get through that crowd. Glad I wasn’t pushing a stroller.

If the sign isn't supposed to be in the photograph, then why is it there? :rolleyes1 :rotfl2::rotfl:

Do I hafta 'splain it? :faint:

How do you know that isn't what they were doing? :confused3 :lmao:

Okay, okay, maybe there were. Or maybe there was one person on each side of it, I can't remember.

Another great updated Glenn! Sorry you did not like Pecos Bills. It is one of my top 4 CS along with Boulangerie Patisserie, Tangerine Cafe, and Starring Rolls. That is why Disney has so many choices as there is something for everyone.

I totally agree…lots of choices for all kinds of tastes, and that makes it great!

Great pix on pirates and I try and ignore the hairy leg. Of couse after riding Pirates in DL back in February I think it might be a bit of a let down when I ride it in October.

I've been hearing that Pirates is great at DL, I can't wait to see it for myself!

Looking forward to more and have a great summer!

Mary Kay

Thanks Mary Kay, you have a great summer too.

And that was probably your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th impression too.

Yeah, pretty much my first impression didn't change!

Sounds like an awesome menu to me.:confused3

It could use more bacon, but other than that…

Good one! I'm totally stealing that.

You're welcome to it.

::yes:: Like the spy missions, I thought the Imagineers did a great job with that. Our kids really liked the games a lot.

It's fun just trying to find the portals sometimes.

Carrot Top?

No, not enough props to be him.

:scratchin Maybe I'll try that in my back yard.

That's quite a sacrifice you'll be making for the rest of the family, and on behalf of them, I thank you.

:rotfl2: Maybe they're down to the point where they're firing forks and knives at each other.

I recently read in my favorite book series (The Bathroom Reader) that some ancient civilization, (maybe the Romans?), used to put a bunch of poisonous snakes into a clay pot and loft that baby onto the deck of an enemy ship. It'd break open and the enemy sailors would scatter.

I think Andy summed it up best here.

Yup.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Never noticed that before.

Oh yeah. And as pointed out by Rob, it's real hair. :crazy2:

Great one! That's a keeper.:thumbsup2

Thanks, sir.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I remember going to the Grand Canyon and watching this busload of foreign tourists pull up to an overlook (I won't mention the country, so as not to offend).

Oh come on, admit that it's because you're so PC.

All of the tourists piled off the bus, stood before one of the great natural wonders of the world, and took pictures with their family...in front of the bus. Then they piled back on and left. :confused3:rotfl:

Well, their friends and family will need to see how they got there.

On my first trip to WDW as a child ('83?, maybe), my father's girlfriend (who had been there before) pointed out the hair on the leg as a example of the level of detail at Disney World.

That is a good example. Maybe too good.

Now, if I'm riding Pirates with someone new, I can't NOT point out that little detail.

I know, and you can't miss it, it hangs right over your head as you pass under the bridge.

I am gonna say 2 and 2 !!!:rolleyes1:lmao:

I'm rooting for you to win, Rosie!

Having answered !!! I will now say I didn't think too much of the food and having to fight ypour way thru the crowd to get utensils and fixin' !!!Yuk!!!

So you’re with me. Right answer.

So I just want to say thank you. If it weren't for your trip report I probably would have bypassed this. So glad you reported on it and that we didn't miss it. :worship:

Hi Chris, thanks for coming back to share that! I really appreciate that you let me know. But honestly, I’m just sharing the love…I read about Bob’s show on somebody else’s trip report, maybe several reports, and I don’t even remember whose.

He does have an amazing memory, right? He remembered your town from like 40 years ago and I’m sure that he remembered your names and called on you all throughout his show. “I don’t think we stopped smiling or laughing the whole time we were there” is a great way to sum it up. His show is definitely the best entertainment bargain in DisneyWorld. I’m glad that you got to experience it! And thanks again for your post!

I think we went on POTC enough times this trip that I noticed something different each time, more than I had from all my other trips. It's not the most thrilling ride and the DL one is much better, but it's still one of my favorite rides. ::yes:: :lovestruc

It's kind of funny -- it's not meant to be a thrill ride at all, yet the mist and the little drop at the beginning really scare the carp out of the little kids. You can't tell a 6 year old that it isn't a thrill ride!

I will say, they really need to do a bit of a refurb, especially on the Jack's, his hair is too in his face most of the time. :rolleyes2 Some of the other animatronics I noticed needing some sprucing up.

I agree.

Good call by Mackie! I wonder if the New Fantasyland is taking a big chunk of the lunch crowd.

You didn't offend me in the least...I'm not a fan of Pecos Bills at all (give me Cosmic Rays or Columbia Harbor House any day).

CHH is now my favorite. But I need to try your recommendation of The Plaza one of these days, even though that's not counter service. We can't go to Cosmic Rays because Judy had an unfavorable reaction to their food back in 2001. You know how that goes!

You got some graet shots in the Pirates attraction, and love the shots on Big Thunder as well.

Thanks Kathy.

I had never been to Pecos Bill's until my trip in Oct and can see where it could be full of hecticity. It was confusing to me and it wasn't that busy. I liked the Taco Salad and if I had to pick between that and Cosmic Rays, I do think Pecos would win but still prefer CHH.

I like that you can go upstairs at CHH, not a lot of people realize that.

:rotfl2:

that is classic!

I was just like ---> :sad2:

Oy those CROWDS!

Yeah, oy! And this smiley applies again ---> :sad2:
