City, Sand, and Savanna - Link to new trip report

So it wasn't obvious when you took the picture? :rolleyes1

What, you think I'm looking at the subject matter??? Sheesh!

I figured Poppy would be all over that one. :lmao:

Well, something would've been all over.

Wow!!! Thanks, Glenn!

Hey, just one more service that this trip report provides.

Well, technically it isn't finished, but I think that dwarf coaster might actually make it worth checking the area out once it is done. :rotfl:

I'm with you, I can't wait to try that one out. :)

I agree. As impressive as all the animatronics are, you'd think they'd at least be able to program in something a little different just to change it up. Maybe a little chest pound and point to the sky like you see a lot when a basketball player is introduced? :confused3

Here you go Imagineers....get on it:

Our lunch on this particular day would be somewhere new for us: Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café in Frontierland. Walking in, my first impression was that it was loud and hectic, but in all fairness, that's probably the case with most counter service places at lunchtime in June in the Magic Kingdom. From my prior research on the DIS, I knew that I was going to get the taco salad and take advantage of the fixin's bar, but Judy had trouble deciding. She wasn't really thrilled with the choices, which were basically burgers, the taco salad, bbq pork sandwich, caesar salad, or a chicken wrap. I think she finally settled on the wrap, and most everybody else got a hamburger although there may have been another wrap or two.

IMG_6415.jpg

Most of the "hecticity" (yes, my word) was at the ordering and cashier areas, and there were cast members helping people find open tables. I set my food down and took a couple of pictures of the section of the restaurant where we sat down. Judy wasn't happy that she had to go back into the fray in order to get straws and napkins. You'd think that they could have some of those kinds of things in these separate dining areas so that you wouldn't have to walk all the way back. If they did, we didn't see them.

IMG_6417.jpg

Unfortunately, to go to the fixin's bar I had to go back out into the chaos again. Here's a picture of my taco salad after I doctored it up a bit.

IMG_6418.jpg

The food was fine, but overall it was just too loud and hectic and we didn't like the running back and forth before we could finally eat. I think we'll try another restaurant next time. Sorry Pecos Bills fans.

James finished eating and was dying to get back to Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, especially since his next portal was right around the corner from the restaurant. While the rest of our group finished eating and cleaning up their trash, I went with James to battle another villain.

IMG_6421.jpg

And from there he darted across the street to another portal near Pirates of the Caribbean. It's amazing how these things blend in with the rest of the scenery when no one is playing the game.

IMG_6422.jpg

Then we met up with Judy, Gram, and Poppy, and got in line for Pirates. The line extended out into the serpentine queue area, but at least it allowed me to get this picture as we entered the tunnels.

IMG_6425.jpg

I tried to take some pictures while in line. Don't ask me whose head is in front of me here, I have no idea.

IMG_6434.jpg

Now we're getting close to boarding.

IMG_6437.jpg

Our boat traveled through an eerie mist, and we went back, back, back, to a strange place and time when pirates ruled the high seas.

IMG_6438.jpg

Dead men tell no tales. But their rotting corpses do make a mighty effective "no trespassing" sign.

IMG_6440.jpg

This scene when you emerge into the middle of a sea battle is my favorite, by far. I love how you can feel the spray of the cannonballs hitting the water. But, this battle's been going on so long, you'd think they could get the range to fire the cannonballs figured out by now.

Do you think if Disney were creating this attraction today, they'd include a human auction? Not too likely.

Drink up, me 'earties.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.

This guy on the bridge is my favorite character in the attraction.

IMG_6459.jpg

Because he's the president of the "Leg Hair Club for Men". (But not only is he the president, he's also a client. ;))

IMG_6461.jpg

This shot of the dog with the jail cell key turned out too blurry.

IMG_6462.jpg

But I tried one more as we went past, and I like how it turned out.

IMG_6463.jpg

I've seen other reports where people have gotten great pictures of Jack Sparrow at the end, but I still haven't been able to get one that I'm happy with. I'll have to keep trying, I guess.

IMG_6464.jpg

When we exited Pirates, it was time to use our Big Thunder Mountain fastpasses. Poppy said that he would not be going (remember his Space Mountain experience), and so he and Gram found a shady spot to hang out while Judy, James, and I went.

I took a crowd picture from the fastpass line, looking back toward Splash and the intersection with Adventureland. Yes, it had become pretty crowded. After days and days of rain, we finally had a decent park-day and everyone was taking advantage of it.

IMG_6467.jpg

I took a few pictures on the ride, not like I've ever done that before.

Oh yeah, as much fun as always!

Walking back from Big Thunder, I had to laugh when I passed the Kodak Picture Spot near Splash Mountain because there were people getting their picture taken with the sign.

Time-out for a Public Service Announcement: People, the "Kodak Picture Spot" sign means that it's a picturesque spot for a photo, but you want to frame the shot so that the sign is not actually in the photograph.

But I might have to start taking pictures with the signs, just for fun.

Our next order of business was planned while we were in line for Big Thunder Mountain&after the "wildest ride in the wilderness" we needed to introduce Gram and Poppy to a new definition of deliciousness, found only in Adventureland.

Up next: Isle say Aloha and the Tiki Tiki Tiki Room

I know 2, but I am going to take a huge chance and say three Judy's.......one that is very questionable...........

Pretty sure about four Judy's, but going with five for one that is a real push but seems to be Judy. :confused3

Nothing ventured nothing gained, right??? :rotfl:

At least I have a cushion to play with........... ;)

Oops, after reading you said you didn't know on the questionable one, so......

Four Judy's!

Ptt pfft ptt......ptt pfft ptt ptt......
My name's Judy, I'm here for the lunch.........
We came to Pecos Bill's but I don't like it a bunch.........

Oops, guess you didn't mean that type of wrap......... :rolleyes1

Judy wasn't happy that she had to go back into the fray in order to get straws and napkins. You'd think that they could have some of those kinds of things in these separate dining areas so that you wouldn't have to walk all the way back. If they did, we didn't see them.

The "red blur" Judy........

Unfortunately, to go to the fixin's bar I had to go back out into the chaos again. Here's a picture of my taco salad after I doctored it up a bit.

IMG_6418.jpg
That's doctored??? I would hate to have seen it to start with........ :confused3

James finished eating and was dying to get back to Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, especially since his next portal was right around the corner from the restaurant. While the rest of our group finished eating and cleaning up their trash, I went with James to battle another villain.

IMG_6421.jpg
You got that trashcan pic just for Pat didn't you??

Now we're getting close to boarding.

IMG_6437.jpg
Right hand corner and side........blurry Judy number two.

Dead men tell no tales. But their rotting corpses do make a mighty effective "no trespassing" sign.
:rotfl2:

Not so sure........we all keep going back don't we???

Do you think if Disney were creating this attraction today, they'd include a human auction? Not too likely.

IMG_6448.jpg
Probably not, but until they take my bid on the redhead I hope they keep it around......... :scratchin

This guy on the bridge is my favorite character in the attraction.

IMG_6459.jpg

Because he's the president of the "Leg Hair Club for Men". (But not only is he the president, he's also a client. ;))

IMG_6461.jpg
I'm guessing that's just that fake spray on stuff.......... :rotfl:

But I tried one more as we went past, and I like how it turned out.

IMG_6463.jpg
Nice pic.........interesting perspective that few probably look back and see! :thumbsup2

When we exited Pirates, it was time to use our Big Thunder Mountain fastpasses. Poppy said that he would not be going (remember his Space Mountain experience), and so he and Gram found a shady spot to hang out while Judy, James, and I went.
Probably a wise decision by Poppy. We don't need to see another "Grumpy" photo so soon......... :rotfl2:

Judy's three and four

Time-out for a Public Service Announcement: People, the "Kodak Picture Spot" sign means that it's a picturesque spot for a photo, but you want to frame the shot so that the sign is not actually in the photograph.
That is too funny!!! :lmao:

Actually, I am going to change my answer to three Judys. The same ones as Marv but minus the blurry one in the PoC line.

My first post was from my mobile at Starbucks (went for an after work coffee). But on the big screen I can see that the "Judy" at PoC is actually Glenn's mother as the nose and the type of curl are both different.

first post one second post 2 grand total of 3.

the one in line for pirates is blury but is gram not judy.

Yeah I think Pecos Bill's "noise" might be part of it's atmosphere. The CM's working will at times start hootin' and hollerin' as well.

OMG, the pirate leg hair. I have a half sister who hadn't been to Disney in, well, decades, but when we went in 2009 that's the one thing she remembered. It's real hair too. Ick.

The best time for Jack Sparrow is when the boats get backed up and you get stuck right in front of him. I've seen it happen for others... not me though. :sad2:

I remember my first visit to Peco Bill's very well, and I was not too impressed by it at first, not only because Magdalene and I had an argument, but because I found it too dark. It was very very busy then at the counters as well, but we managed to find a nice quiet space somewhere in the back and I quite grew to like it there. But I guess it would have been impossible for you in June around lunchtime to find such a spot....

I will have a look out for hairy male lags in DLP, but I'm afraid we will take only our small camera, so pictures might be blurry.
