Citricos or California Grill

Both are good restaurants. We prefer Citricos over Cali Grill. Citricos has a nice quiet atmosphere, while Cali tends to be very loud. The food and service at Citricos are incredible. Citricos is the one place my family has requested to return to the last 3 years in a row. We have been to Cali in that time frame as well and they have not requested to return there. ::MinnieMo

They are both 2 TS credits. I would have to recommend the California Grill because it is my favorite restaurant on property :)

I HIGHLY recommend Cali Grill over Citricos.

Cali Grill's food is much better. Yes, its a busy restaurant, but if you make a reservation for later in the evening, after regular dinner time, it will be quieter.

Citricos is a lot quieter but the cusine doesnt hold a candle to Cali Grill (which is probably why its a lot quieter!). Dont let the fancy ingredients fool you; there is no rhyme or reason to each dish. I like ingredients that compliment eachother on the plate and add flavor..not random ingredients thrown together to look and sound better than it is!

Please..trust me! Im not a PR person and have always had trouble explaining things, but simply said..go to Cali Grill!

Both are good but as far as "pure" restaurant food goes, Citrico's is probably a bit better. California Grill does have the edge in appetizers though---

We like Citricos better than Ca Grill. Ca Grill does have a stunning view (and sushi) but Citricos has better food.

No signature restaurant is worth two credits unless you are on the deluxe DP.

I guess it would depend on whether or not you're looking for more of a quiet low-key meal or more lively, exciting atmosphere. Like the above posters said, that seems to be one of the main differences. Food quality...both, IMO, are outstanding, so I don't think you could go wrong with either. I'm not sure if this is right...but I do think the CG does have a slightly bigger menu, but I'm not 100% sure, so don't quote me (I'm sure you could find sample menus online to get an idea).

We prefer the CG just because of the view and the atmosphere of the place, but still try to go to Citrico's if possible. Good luck!

I preferred the food at CG over Citrico's but not by much (I agree that CG has better appetizers, too...and the filet there was just amazing). Had great experiences at both restaurants. It's cool being able to walk outside at CG and look around the property (and see the MK fireworks if you time your meal right).

100% citricos, the menu is a little smaller than CA grill but the food is a bit superior and the pairings are perfect while at CA grill a lot of the time I was thinking that a few things on my plate just didn't taste right together it just seemed not as refined of a whole plate. Both are great restaurants and you can't go wrong with either DH and I just both felt that citricos food was a notch above although DH had some amazing sushi at CA grill. Also Citricos was much quieter eventhough all the tables were full when we went which made for a better overall experience.

Those are my two favorite restaurants on property, and yes, both are two credits on the dining plan. If you've never been to either, I'd pick CA Grill for the view.

I liked then both an have gone to both a few times. You really can't go wrong with either one. The service and food are good at both. My nod would go to Cali grill. I would look at the menus and see which one looks better. If you can do both, I would.

What does the OP want to do? If the OP wants to see the fireworks during dinner, then go to Cali Grill. If the OP can do without the fireworks, and simply wants a good meal, then either restaurant will work. In a straight comparison for the quality of the food, the two are quite close. In a straight comparison for the quality of the service, ditto. Citrico's always feels like a smaller restaurant than the Cali Grill, and it is located off the beaten track in the GF main building, so I find the atmosphere more relaxing than at the Cali Grill in part because there is a lot less traffic.

You say "lively, exciting atmosphere," I say "really loud with too many kids running around with nothing to do since everywhere is stretching out their meals in order to see the fireworks." Potato, potahtoe, I guess.

That being said, I like California Grill very much, but find the food, service, ambience and decor at Citricos to be superior.

:lmao: Exactly! We really used to love Cali Grill but it's such an odd disconnect for me to have a really divine dining experience with such chaotic craziness ensuing.

One of the previous posters recommended eating later at CG to avoid the noise - Au contraire! That is the peak of the insanity! The closer you get to fireworks time, the louder the place gets & the more kids have been stretched to the limit. Since we like to dine later at night, esp. on vacation, we don't go to CG anymore. It's just TOO loud & there is other deliciousness to be had in calmer waters..... like Citricos.

Hmmm, it's a tough one but overall I would go for the Cali grill. We ended up eating there twice last year as we just loved it, especially for wishes! Saying that, the staff, service and food at Citricos were all awesome. They printed us custom menus with our names on them and took a photo, put it in a card etc. I was really impressed!

Citrico's hands down. I have eaten at both places twice and though they are both great with high quality food, excellent service and an open kitchen, our whole family prefers Citricos a little bit more. Mainly we feel the food is just a bit better and the atmosphere is more laid back. It's still ritzy and indulgent but with that wonderful feeling like "relax, we got it, you just sit back". CG hooks you in with the invite to see Wishes, but the first time we went it rained and the fireworks were obscured by clouds, and the second time we were seated far from the windows and the view of the castle was obscured. The kids went out to the balcony to watch but came right back in saying it was too cold (we went in mid March and at night it was in the 50's). Not to say the fireworks aren't cool during dinner, just don't let that be your selling point because you may not get to see them like you wanted to.

Luckily, you cannot go wrong. Both places are great.

I'm totally agree. The last time we were at Citricos it was like the Chef had gone crazy with the blood oranges. They were in everything! I'll go again but they're going to have to change that menu. The apps were great but the entrees were hugely disappointing. I told my husband I've tasted better beef at Cracker Barrel. The chocolate cake was just so-so (and a little dry) and the spice cake that my husband had, while inventive and pretty to look at, was boring. It's very quiet though and the service is excellent.
