You know what's sad...if you assume the average worker in the US makes 50k and pays 1/3 to income tax there are about 75 people who would have their entire lifetime of income taxes go to that jet or if you just look at this year about 3000 people paid for that with their taxes and nothing else. But in reality it's probably even more than that since the US in into deficiet spending and the government will have to pay interest on that. They clearly gave citi group about 50 000 000 too much. Even if they were selling those two jets for the amount they paid they obviously still had one too many and could have just saved tax payers that money...

Citi is just one straight up greedy nasty slimy despicable company. I especially love they told Congress they wouldn't raise interest rates on credit cards for no reason, then turned around and raised the rates for millions of customers! THAT ALONE SHOULD PREVENT THEM FROM GETTING A BAILOUT. They are LIARS and cheats who can't be trusted. I opted out. They can take their interest rate hike and shove it where the sun don't shine! I am DONE with them and hope they FAIL.

Makes me glad that I make money off of Citi - we pay our dividend card off each month so we pay them zero interest and they turn around and have to give us anywhere from 1%-5% cash back so I get a check every three months or so. I know they get fees from the retailers, but still... up theirs.

I have a Citi card but I wouldn't jeopardize my credit in this day and age to teach them a lesson they aren't going to learn.

That's how the financial industry has, pardon the expression, completely screwed American citizens. THEY control the credit reporting agencies, so THEY make all the rules. THEY wrote the bankruptcy laws, THEY wrote the "regulations" on credit cards. And now THEY have taken billions of taxpayer dollars without having to tell the taxpayers what they are spending that money on.

I completely blame President Bush and Congress for allowing this travesty to occur.

You know....I voted for Obama, but was not his biggest supporter. However, I have been so proud to see some of the changes he has made...I really like him more and more with each passing day!!! I hope this trend continues, and I pray he does not come to any ill end.....

I don't know which disturbs me more... that Citibank bought the plane or that Obama has made it gov't business to care about such things. The fact that the White House dialed up Citibank and informed them about business decisions is a great example of how the concept of free enterprise in America is in deep trouble.

It is a shame though, that in thes country the President of the US has to call up CEO's of Companies to tell them that they are "Bad Boys". and should get a time out!
