Christmas Shopping 2010

:cool1:We finished Christmas shopping for our DS5 last night!:cool1: It's bad when you finally get a "date night" with DH and all you do is shop or look for the kids!!!!!:lmao: Now we just need a good deal on a laptop for DD11. Any ideas?:wizard:

Are you kidding, sounds like a perfect date night to me. I would love it if dh was willing to do any shopping with me, I have to take care of it all by myself.

I am very fortunate that my DH loves to shop! He actually buys more than I would for our kids! We are going for our first WDW Christmas trip in December so we are trying to do as much as we can now! Good luck with you shopping!:thumbsup2

Dh gave me the :thumbsup2 to get the girls a pillow pet. So dd 5 wants a hippo but I have no idea what to get dd2. I think the pig is cute. They had these at toysrus last week. They had them at our local walmart but they didn't have the one my dd wants. I am going to take of the extra LPS triplets off the list. I'm really trying to cut back this year but it is so hard. I love Christmas. I did get dd 2 5 outfits from oldnavy baby sale going to put those away for Christmas also.

Went to the toys R us sale I did the buy 2 get 3rd free. But my mom bought my niece some stuff so it worked out to both of our benefit. I got my 2 LPS rescue centers and 2 of the LPS doll and figure total would have been 110.00. After the discounts and my mom paid 1/3 for her stuff my total was 65.00. I only have to get the pillow pets for my girls and I am done. I'm kind of gald I'm done we leave this week so when we get back I can work on the adults.

Im not sure who posted a question about gifts for teenagers, it was a couple pages back but here are a couple ideas. A teenage friend of ours just had her 16th birthday and some of the gifts she got included a underwater digital camera, matching bracelet and necklace, posters (she loves Glee), christmas ornament (Star Trek/Hallmark), Itunes cards, Skinit (adhesive protective covers for phones, mp3s, etc) and oh yea...a car.:lmao:

Hmmm, I will have to check out the Old Navy sale on Black Friday if it is THAT good :thumbsup2 I think DH and I may try to head out this year and get a couple of flat screens for our younger kids rooms. The oldest got our old one when we re-did the family room and the little ones are crying foul.

So, I have done a little more shopping. It is all going in rubbermaid totes to keep kids out (we store clothes in totes just like them so they never bother them.) In the totes so far:

DD 8:
Stocking stuffers: BABW lotion, Secret body spray (these two I got free when I bought something else, normally I wouldn't have gotten her anything by Secret LOL) A Squinkie bracelet and the Squinkie pink diamond thing, the purple and the pink Zoobles.

Barbies: Rocker Barbie and Peaches and Cream Barbie (reproductions) - taking me back to my childhood, I keep taking them out and gazing lovingly at them!
Build a Bear Hot Fudge Bear and 3 outfits
Part of Santa's gift - 4 bitty baby outfits (from Amazon), the Our Generation bed and shoe rack for her AG dolls, ordered but not here yet: Sugar Dog/Book

DS 11:
NOT MUCH!!! *Sigh* He is so hard to buy for, hoping to work on him this weekend. So far, a Caligraphy set. Woo hoo! LOL

DS 6:
Stocking: 2 baby potato heads, one construction worker and one cowboy

Build a Bear Mint Choc Chip Bear and 3 outfits
Ordered but not here yet: DS game Kung Zhu, comes with hamster toy

I'm almost done w/ DD. She is getting another doll and I'll order a couple of outfits when I get her. I plan to buy them a couple of DS games a piece. I'm thinking Kinect and some games for DS 11's xbox maybe. He also wants a year of XBox live and a new headset and a couple of the texter add ons. I know I want him to have a camera. I was also looking at some sketching stuff, he is a pretty good artist.Still stuck on the younger DS. Possibly Hot Wheels, maybe some Legos. He'd love an inflatable jumper so we may do that (do you think you could set one up in a basement? I have no idea how "huge" they get but that would be awesome winter fun for him and his friends!!)

PS - do those of you with girls AND boys find it's easier to find gifts for your girls? I guess just because she likes what I liked as a little girl so anything I see that I go "Ooooh!" over I know she'll love LOL Dh has no ideas for boys, he says it's all changed too much! ;)

Did a little more shopping today with my craigslist money :) Actually, I guess a lot more LOL For DS 6 I got 5 mystery lego pks and a lego helicopter w/ man, a TON of Play-Doh stuff (a big activity set, a medium activity set, and a grill), and a Disney Guess Who game. For DS 11 I got some Nano Hexbugs for his stocking and a Disney Monopoly game, I also preordered his Kinect at Gamestop. Both boys got a Flip Track and two packs of Mighty Beanz for stocking stuffers, DS 11 got Star Wars and DS 6 got Marvel then they each got a regular pack. For our "family box" we are doing bluray movies and wii games so I bought Prince of Persia and preordered Tink. I also preordered the Epic Mickey game at Gamestop (for a little extra I got a 5 inch figurine, faceplate, box and maybe some other stuff.) I need to get the six year old a tub of legos, his kindergarten teacher said they help with dexterity, and TRU online had a cool looking storage tower for them. That may be one of his gifts because I sure don't want them everywhere  I am also debating the VReader or a Leapfrog system of some sort. Definately something that will be fun but still help with his literacy skills....

Sounds like you've made a lot of progress!!!:thumbsup2

I found a few wii games on toyrus that I could get. My SIL bought us a wii for Christmas last year with Toy Story Mania and a High School Musical sing it. I found Up on sale later in the year. So that is all we have other than sports that came with it. So getting a few more games for Christmas would be good.

Then I started looking at Legos. My DS(9) was never crazy about them-enjoyed them ok but never asked for any. Santa has been putting small sets (like the $4 ones) in their stockings for a few years. My DD(7) has been very interested in them lately-using all those small sets to make bigger things. I was thinking of getting her something bigger for Christmas. I was thinking of the airplane but I think DS would really like that one too. So do I just order the plane from Amazon and give it to DS or do I do the buy 2 get 1 free from toysrus. I also have DD(11) who is mildly interested in Legos. Don't know how she would feel if other 2 get them and she didn't.

I don't know if I want 3 large sets in the house or if I should take advantage of the toysrus deal and get 3 $20ish ones. I guess I just can't decide which ones to get. We do have very limited storage so that is a issue. My girls room has no closet, DS's room has very small closet, we have 1 closet on the first floor, a wet basement and no attic or garage.

DS & younger DD also have birthdays in January so I guess I could give them Legos on their bdays and skip older DD.

I had foot surgery on my right foot 7 weeks ago so I'm still not up for much retail shopping and just made an appointment to get my other foot done 11/22-the Monday before Thanksgiving so I better start making some decisions.

I have already ordered my youngest a bunch of Schleich toys. She loves those and does a good job putting them away after she plays with them.

I think I'm going to get older DD a new Nintendo as hers isn't working well. I need to decide if I should go the DSi or DSi XL.

I really need to get moving on all this! Plus I want to make other family member gifts and the kids all want me to make them Halloween costumes and this is the crazy busy time at work and my boss's boss just tore his achillle's tendon so things will be even crazier.

If you take the lego sets out of their original boxes the don't take up much space. I think Lego packages them in gigantic boxes so you think you're getting more for your money. ;) We store our disassembled sets and instructions in gallon size ziploc bags, then all the bags go in a rubbermaid container. Our kids take out the sets one at a time and build them. That way all the pieces for the sets are kept together and we don't have legoes everywhere!

If you don't get Legoes this week at TRU I'm sure there will be some deals closer to Christmas. There seems to always be some Black Friday deals on legoes.

Good luck with your Halloween costumes. I just finished a Luke Skywalker costume and am waiting for my other son to decide what he wants to be. :confused3

Ok people! Enough with that Christmas shopping! :goodvibes I have one present bought. One!!! Usually I have a million things and this year I have one!

I hope you are all finding great deals. I can't wait to start shopping. I really need to because we have "nothing to do at our house!" My poor kids, with only a Wii and PS3, over 60 Barbies, too many games, LPS, PP, and every art supply known to man, my poor kids are mistreated! :rotfl2:

I ordered each of my boys 3 lego mini's from Lego website as I had earned $10 in VIP points so just used those to help pay for them. Our Target did not carry them.

My DD gave me her list this weekend and the one item I thought she would never want she does, zoobles. So I hope TRU will have some for the B2G1 sale this week. I won't be able to get there until Friday night or Saturday so they maybe cleaned out by then.

I am also hoping to hit up sale at Justice this week with my 40% off coupon as DD showed me a few things she wants from there as well. My kids are actually easy this year. I know exactly what they want now I just need find time to pick the items up. Living at soccer fields 6 nights a week makes it really tough.

My toys r us was sort of wiped out of some things. My girls are into LPS so I was able to get 2 lps rescue centers and the LPS dolls. They had alot of the zobble playsets but not one single zooble. The did have the pack of zoobles for 30.00. Toys r us gets 2 shipments a week so they may be stocked up again for the weekend. They had what I wanted but there was only 2 lps dolls left and 1 rescue center left after I bought mine. They had basically 3 of everything when we went. I kind of made me laugh. My mom was asked me don't they stock there shelves for these sales.

Apparently Bop-It Bounce is popular :confused3. I went to buy it at Walmart this morning for my 9yo for Christmas and the shelf was cleaned out. My kids have given me some ideas of what they want and now I think I have my 6yo figured out so that's half the battle.

I ordered Eyeclops night vision binoculars for DS11 and preordered a pillow pet for the 6yo. I had already ordered one from somewhere, but it turned out not to be the real thing and it went back so I did this one from Walgreens. I'm getting ready to order some things from Amazon, I have them in my cart, but I'm waiting for another $5 GC from swagbucks to hit my account.

my son got the Eyeclops one year-he loved it! He still drags it out every now and then and goes scoping around the yard! It's hilarious!!!

I'm glad to hear that, I wasn't sure if he would get alot of use out of it, but I figured if nothing else he could take it camping.

My Target had some toys on clearance last week...several Toy Story toys, some LPS, and some learning games. I was surprised to see clearance as this noramlly is not the time for markdowns.

jacksmomma, I was thinking the same thing about all of these sales. I mean, i'm glad they're going on, but it does seem odd. Toys r us had zhu zhu pets, buy one get one free or 50% off twice already in the past month or so. They also had 25% off their squinkies stuff when I went out for those a few weeks ago.

Here's to hoping the sales only get better! Although I guess it's not a great thing if you really think about it. I hope the economy is getting better not worse.

They had some of the same sales last year. Becasue I remeber almost being done Christmas shopping before we left last year. Toys r us had the buy 2 get 1 free deal around the same time last year. Because I bought my LPS stuff then also.

I usually start my Christmas shopping gettng everyone Pjs and a robe. Got that done at Sam's Monday. Now for the good suff.

It looks like everyone is making good progress, including me finally  I got dd pretty much done, I am just waiting for Target to put the Kindle on display so I can compare it to the Nook. I decided that instead of a TV in her room she would be better with a digital reader. Her sleep pattern has changed and she has a tough time falling asleep, she would stay up and watch TV all night if I let her but I make her read in bed to try to make her tired. She loves to read anyway but she said the only thing is she wouldn't be able to take it to school and use it there. They do still get library books so at least she will have that.
I also got her a pair of Uggs, some squinkies, LPS and some make-up. She wants a Pandora-like necklace too but I may save that for her b-day a few weeks after Christmas.
My 2 dses are almost done. So far I got them each an ipod nano, some lego sets and minifigs, might beanz, spongebob connect 4, a cuponk game, erector set and I forgot that I had some DS and Wii games packed away. I just need to find some specific Star Wars figures, and SW mighty beanz and they'll be finished with under the tree gifts and I'll just have to get everyone's stocking stuffers

The Kindle was on display at my Target last night when I was there.

I was just there today and they have the display in the back but nobody has put it out yet, and the man in electronics had no idea when they would be setting it up. I have no idea why he couldn't do it himself, or why he had to call someone else on his radio to ask when someone would put it on display. :confused3
