We have never been to WDW during Christmas or the food/wine festival. I am really looking forward to going to one of these next year. Is it necessary to book our rooms at the 11 month window, our home resorts are BCV and BWV? Is Christmas more crowded than the food/wine and which one would you pick for the first non summer visit? What could I expect in terms of weather and crowds for both. Thanks.

It's very difficult, even with the 11 month window to get a large room at BWV during Chrimstas. We had to go on the wait list, but did end up getting the 2 bedroom for the duration of what we wanted to stay (even ended up with a boardwalk view).

We found it extremely easy to get a room during the food & wine festival and really enjoyed it too.

Good luck whichever you decide. No matter what time of year you go to Disney, it's magical!

If you've never been to WDW during the holidays, then Christmas is an absolute must. It's incredible. Make sure you to the Candlelight Processional.

My opinion..............

If you have kids do Christmas, if you don't do Food & Wine!!

We just did food & wine for the first time last week over the Columbus Day weekend. It was just DW and I and it was a chance to have some time for ourselves and celebrate our anniversary, while DS (16 yo) stayed at home w/his grandmother. We had a great time and the crowds were not bad at all.

We have ressies for Christmas week and NYE at BWV, which we made at the 11 month window with no trouble at all. It is a 1 BR w/Board Walk view, and this time DS is going along. We would have done Christmas, but we are expected at MIL's w/DW’s family in Jacksonville, FL.

If the Christmas holiday has special meaning for you, then that should be a major factor in your decision, since Disney's holiday decorating is absolutely tremendous. (It isn't that compelling for our family, since we're Jewish.) Otherwise you might prefer food and wine, when the crowds are less intense, the grazing is delicious, and the weather is better for swimming.

Christmas was always my favorite time to go to WDW, then we did the F &W and loved it. Both are great times to be there. We have done the F &W for the past 3 years and it may be time to re-visit during Christmas. My favorite week for Christmas is either the 1st or 2nd week of December. Very low crowds then. Or....your could always do both... we've done that before!!

We are in WDW now and have been for several days. We love Dec. here. Though the weather is a bit unpredictable then the crowds seem less. Early Dec. vs. F&W. Early Dec. by a landslide

Hey, you could always do what we do. Buy an annual pass. Go the first or second week of December one year, and then do Oct/Nov the next. Two trips for not much more than one, and you get to experience both seasons. Last year we did the Christmas party; this year it's Halloween and the Food and Wine Festival. :smooth:
