i bet our kids would get along swimmingly. pokemon sun and moon comes out soon too and considering how many harry potter lego sets there were, i think it'd be unheard of for lego to not put out a few fantastic beasts sets.... i've been watching the web but so far all i've found was a few dimensions sets so far.

I totally forgot about the Fantastic Beasts movie. could not understand WHY Barnes Noble had tons of Harry Potter front and center. Now it makes sense. Will keep an eye out for their lego that would be great! For sure I will get the Pokémon sun moon thing. usually I am way more ahead this time of the year but oh well easy enough to catch up with the internet :)

Since she is headed to college in the fall I was thinking of getting some college things but it stresses her out thinking of college now so I might wait for grad gift but I loved this.

PEace of mind for me and she is an anxious kid at times https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EIS49S8/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_9?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

My son is now 15, but one thing I was surprised he really likes is his own 'Scentsy' which I bought at Target last year. He also really liked the Dr. Who Lego set last year of the interior of the Tardis. Another thing I was surprised that he likes is Bath & Body's sleep lavender & vanilla body wash. He is often camped out in the bath reading his English books.

I picked up a cute Hairy Otter t-shirt for him at Shedd Aquarium. I see they are available online too.

We thankfully had a conversation that we are focusing on experiences and we are off to the runDisney Star Wars 10K in January. So I don't have to come up with a perfect teen gift this year.

I just purchased a 3-month subscription to Nerd Block for my DS18. It's like the Geek box, but they have specific versions based on your taste. My DS is getting the Sci Fi one. I'm receiving them at home for Oct., Nov., and Dec., and then he will have 3 to open Christmas morning (he is away as a college freshman). I'm also getting him $100 Euros for his upcoming trip to Rome in January. I usually pick up new pajamas he opens on Christmas Eve (not sure if we're going to keep that tradition going), and now I'm adding the great Saran wrap idea for gift cards and little items!

We feel like the trip to Rome (part of a class for school) and college experience are a pretty big gift, but of course we need some things to open Christmas morning! :stitch:

Also, this is a "mom" gift for me, but might be good for an older teen girl...I just discovered L' Occitane has an advent calendar for $55. I purchased one for myself as a treat. I love their products and it will be nice to try some new ones. Plus we now have an empty nest so I'm always looking for little things to perk me up as we go through this first year and have to change traditions, etc.

We were in Target today and my dd14 said she wants the "Cards Against Humanity." I googled it when I got home. It looks rather inappropriate. Is anyone familiar with this game? It says 17+ for the age so I'm guessing it doesn't just look inappropriate, it is.

I've never played it, but my DDs have played with some older cousins and I know they were very embarrassed by some of the questions and answers.

I've played it...it's one I'd wait til college to give. That age range is for real.

Say Anything is a much better game for her age range...heck, it's a better game for all age ranges, having played both:)...

This is also a very popular option, although I have not played it yet - Not Parent Approved...https://notparentapproved.com/

My DD is 13. This is going to be a tough year. There aren't any "big" (expensive) things she wants. In the past there has always been an electronic device she wanted (iPad, etc) or a larger item like a futon. So far, I only have a few things...

- She loves The Little Mermaid and is always wrapped up in a blanket so I purchased a mermaid tail blanket for her. There are tons on Amazon, I think I paid about $20.
- Comfy patterned leggings

- I think I will also get her a hanging jewelry organizer and a handful of inexpensive jewelry to fill it. Likely all wrapped separately so it becomes an activity as she opens (or for later in the day).
- Tsum Tsums... she has just discovered these and would like to start a collection. The mini plush size. Seem like $5 is a typical cost for one??? Anyone have recommendations on where to find good deals for them? Her fave characters are from The Little Mermaid and The Lion King, if it matters... but I think I'll get some basics (Mickey and Minnie) too.
Sometimes the Disney Store will put some of the less popular ones on sale. We got a few for 1.99. Sometimes they also do a 2 for sale.

I agree. Definitely not appropriate for teens. It's an adult game.

Thanks everyone! I talked to her about it and she said some kids brought the cards to school to play at lunch but none of them had bad words so she didn't realize it was that kind of game.

Anyway, it's off the list - thanks!!!

My DD16 is a Disney nut and asked for/got some tsum tsum for her bday in March. I also bought her the advent calendar and think she will love it.

Tonight DH and I bought DD16 soft onesie pjs. Last year we gave her a Mickey pj suit and she wears it all the time. There is one on sale now at JCP if anyone is shopping. It has a good with ears and very cute if your teen likes that style.

One combined gift- a new flat screen TV for Playroom/Den currently have an ancient tube TV. Thinking of redoing this room to be more fitting for teens- hangout kind of room.

Already planning that next Christmas youngest will get a phone and oldest will get an upgrade- hopefully upgrade won't be needed before then.

Is this like the polaroid cameras you are referring to? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003B2GTY0?ref_=ams_ad_dp_asin_1&th=1

I was thinking of getting one for my 12 year old niece. Do the supplies end up costing lots of money? I don't want to leave my sister with a money pit lol! I also saw that there is a fuji brand that looks similar. They are pretty close in price too.

yes my oldest got one for her birthday last year and the youngest has wanted one ever since. We actually have the Fuji one and that is what I will get the youngest. Film isn't cheap but they have to use their own money for it. I plan on stocking them up with some for Christmas.

Thanks! I'm thinking I might try this for my niece. She gets money for various things she does around the house, so if she likes it she could use some of her money for that.
